I used to power the main flow with a timer for the power outage. Now I've kind of neglected that. Visually, everything is unchanged.

For some reason, I think that since such serious manufacturers as Vortec and Tunze have provided a night mode, it must be necessary. And if there are SPS corals in the aquarium, they also feed at night, so how can it be without flow? You can't catch much in still water!

In a real reef, the intensity of water movement does not seem to depend on the time of day and is roughly the same both day and night. Only the direction of the currents may change slightly. Storms are not taken into account. We can change the directions of the currents with a controller - this is well thought out in Vortech pumps. Night modes are likely designed for those who are disturbed by the noise of the pumps while sleeping. Fish will find a comfortable place to rest according to their habits. Corals do the same: those that sleep contract and are indifferent to the current, while those that are active and feeding find the current helpful.

At night, the reef still sways just like during the day.

I have in my M.A. that day and night there is one current, there are no changes at all. The animals are used to it and they really like it.

I think that the current at night should not differ from the daytime conditions. Let me give you an example from nature: I have dived in Bali both during the day and at night, and the current on the reef is constant, except for the times when there are tides. So in an artificial environment, we should create conditions that are as similar as possible to the natural habitat.

The thing is that at night, the current in my reef is laminar. When in the morning, along with the first group of lamps, the wave and turbulent currents are turned on, everything that could have accumulated on the corals and rocks overnight is washed away by the current, and there’s very little of it... Sometimes I didn’t turn off the streams at night, and in general, I didn’t notice any significant changes. In my humble opinion, I will only turn off one Waver, otherwise it won’t let me sleep, and let the rest keep running. Or I will switch it to "non-burst" mode at night.
