The topic in which the question about the quality of J.K. (living stones) was asked has been closed..., but the question remains... So! In the photo, there is a stone! J.K. (living stones) or not, I ask for an evaluation and opinions on this stone. Please write honestly about what everyone thinks! Everyone is invited - professionals, amateurs, and beginners!!! Please write only on topic; all off-topic messages will be deleted...

In my opinion, it's of average quality. At least it falls short compared to "fresh." Although the quality of J.K. (live rocks) cannot be determined by sight, the main factor is not the Carolina but the quantity of bacteria.

Dennis

They didn't include a multiple selection feature. I would vote for both the basic and the live rocks. For the basic one - personally, I like to place such rocks lower. For the live rocks - it looks like a normal live rock that may have been in an inverted position for a long time.

In my opinion, the quality of live rocks can be determined in order of importance by: the seller's word appearance, volume/weight, visible life luck I prefer pre-owned live rocks.

James4342

It is clear that J.K. (living stones). Only basic or standard, I can't say. I voted for basic.

Is the photo taken in water or out of water? If it's in water for at least a week and there are no aiptasia, then it's good live rock. If it's out of water, then it could be dry reef rock. In general, I've switched to soluble, otherwise, I could have mixed it with the sludge.

As for me, live rocks seem to be "silted," as if they have sediment on them. Do such rocks exist at the very bottom of the reef? Update: Is this asking to know what appearance of live rocks buyers prefer?

I may not have seen many stones, but what’s in the photo clearly used to look cooler—the white spots were Carolina, right? Determining the quality of a stone from a photo is like diagnosing a patient. Weight, smell, and appearance are the three main parameters. We only see one in the photo. It's completely unrealistic to determine how "alive" a stone really is without a lab and a microscope. So, it leaves us to trust the sellers and our own feelings.

Jesse

By the way, it's quite a reasonable move; if the stone works but doesn't satisfy the exterior, it should be adjusted to meet the buyers' needs.

I classified this J.K. (live stones) as basic.... Firstly, it has some biofilm, albeit a little. Secondly, there is a clear likelihood of some types of macrophytes sprouting in the future. Their traces are clearly visible. And thirdly, the porosity is sufficient. They should work quite well.

James3382

A new product on the market of live stones - now with reinforcement.

Todd8452

The photos are taken very close, and you can't understand anything from the angle.

Kimberly

set up a basic J.K. (living stones)

Melissa

I moved the post from to your topic. As for who deleted the post, it was deleted by , not me. Regarding the rating of J.K. (living stones), I set the basic J.K. (living stones).

Gene1948

I know it's not you... I just asked you to move it... Thank you!

Susan1358

set the basic J.K. (living stones)

Maria6659

There is no such thing as basic, J.K. (living stones), premium... It's subjective. A stone is either J.K. (living stones) or not J.K. (living stones). I set J.K. (living stones).

Nancy758

It looks very modest, yet it can range from dry reef rocks (DRR) to even decent live rocks (LR), better to "feel" it up close and assess what is "on the other side of the Moon."

Amber

Here is this message.

I have a colony of zoanthids growing on the base live rock. So that's not an indicator either. If a living one comes out of the rock, then it's definitely fresh live rock.

Anthony

this is definitely not an indicator

Gabrielle5053

Thank you all! But there are still too few participants in the survey... The survey is anonymous, you can just make a choice without leaving a comment. Although I would also like to read the feedback... Here are more photos, as requested, the stone has been taken out of the water and turned over! It has a peculiar smell. There are no crabs or vegetation!

Matthew1280

Either this part is photographed from below, which I allow, or it is soaked S.R.K. (dry reef stones). It's hard to say anything else about this photo until you hold it in your hands.

Joseph8592

, "not premium" Closer to pickled

Kathryn514

If these stones arrived today (yesterday, at most the day before yesterday...) morning from the Asians-J.K. (living stones), and if they have been in the aquarium for at least six months, anything can happen. The dry one will look exactly like the stones in the photo (and if you add some fish to it, even better).

Michelle1505

It is quite possible that most people want to see exactly the growths and polyps on the rocks. They are not interested in the sterility of the rock for an SPS aquarium. That's why the results are like this. I set up the basic one myself, as it is very similar to Primo Rock.
