Recently, I bought a book by Savchuk, and it says that a mature aquarium of 6-12 months is needed for Mandarins. This is to ensure that a sufficient number of microorganisms develop in it, which the Mandarins start to feed on. Of course, the water quality after 6 months will be incomparably better than in a 2-month-old aquarium.

Strange things are happening. Did they sell water with substrate? And water from the aquarium with crypto? Sorry, but my remaining hair is standing on end; why? Let's read about crypto from Morshnev (it's worth listening to this person's opinion, but that's just my take). If you took substrate from the tank where this water was, or if there was detritus, you most likely got cysts as a bonus. I can only reassure you that they are present in almost every aquarium.

Fish with wheels almost always carries crypt, on Friday for the first time in a year I saw crypt on the new Hepatus, before that I had only seen it at the beginning of my marine career (I turned on UV, shouted on the forum)... now I'm sure it's about water quality (good skimmer, carbon, lots of corals, mature aquarium) and the presence of nutrients.
Rick
I had two cases of crypto with the arrival of new fish. Fortunately, everything turned out fine. I ordered one small gram, and it affected all the fish. So it seems it's not just about the quality of the water. The second case was similar.
David
I currently have a well-established aquarium with mature fish without any crypto. On Friday, I brought in one with crypto; I will conduct an experiment and report back... will it infect the others? I have 5 toros right now, actively cleaning the sick fish... let's see...
Frank7213
Interestingly, in real seas, in 99% of cases, toros can be seen near predatory fish. This is likely related to the diet of the predators. There are more bacilli on carnivores than on vegetarians.

Cryptocaryon can appear on its own. I transferred a completely healthy fish from one aquarium to another, and the next morning it had cryptocaryon. After a week, it was all gone.

In nature, the "turtles" stay in one place, and clients come to their "office" for cleaning, including herbivorous surgeons.

I'm talking about fish tanks, not shrimp.
Rachel
I was not writing about shrimp, but about dimidiatus (Labroides dimidiatus), which are resident fish.
Eric8832
I'm talking about Lismata shrimp, sorry for not clarifying... by the way, I'm starting to seriously doubt that if you transplant a fish from a healthy reef, it will have crypt (all the fish I've gotten lately are clean)... unfortunately, it's not always possible to buy fish that have been held for a while... it's interesting to see what the gurus will say, for example, Hepatus can be without crypt even in stress...

1. The meaning of my topic is water or fish; the question is not about mandarins, oranges, and grapefruit.
2. I see you enjoy stirring things up in discussions and harshly crossing personal boundaries, for example, with "Pashka," "Discussion of J.K. (live stones)..." and now in my thread.
Off-topic 3. I gave you my mobile number (067-612-90-87); call me back and let's talk about my brain and other awkward things you said about me in the group, not in private messages.

Tolia is right. Cryptocaryon cysts are present in almost every aquarium. In normal conditions, fish do not get sick, but if there is stress or something else, they can easily fall ill. So when introducing new fish, either quarantine with preventive medication or at least UV treatment is necessary. Quarantine is definitely better. I know that Tolia keeps 100% of new fish in quarantine for a month.

And what now?

I had 5 leeches living in my aquarium for 3 months, and I fed them once a week, and only if I wasn't on vacation... The question is, could the leeches have found all the cysts during this time, and how long can crypts "sleep" without fish?
That's a good question about quarantine. If there's a possibility to set up an adequate container, I've heard that fish are put in osmosis for about two hours...
Angela
Different timeframes are mentioned, ranging from 3-4 days to a couple of weeks. And the lismats can also feed on algae.
James
How many tomonts can be in a resting state? There are indications of an incubation period of 6 to 10 days, followed by hatching and the search for a new host by the wanderers.
Brooke3987
There was once a topic about cysts from dead fish infected with cryptosporidium; they have a different cycle and are much more dangerous... The answer seems to be that cryptosporidium brings fish, and while water itself can carry cysts, they disappear without fish or cannot find a weakened host...
Alexander
That's right.

Usually, if fish are removed from the reef for treatment after an outbreak and placed in subsequent quarantine, leaving invertebrates as usual without changing the conditions, the aquarium will self-clear from the pathogen, and fish can then be reintroduced. The duration of quarantine can be 15 days, but it can also be longer.

It's funny to remember now, but I once fell for the story of the Hepatus seller... saying that it's not a crypt on it, but a protective reaction to stress, like a predator would see a fish covered in it and say "yuck, I won't eat that." I can just imagine that gourmet predator...
Nicole263
The protective response... means that the crypt can also act as a defender... how about that...
Thomas5021
I would trust the seller.

Thank you to everyone participating. I also wanted to hear from those who were escaping this plague in the reef.
Brian
In the reef, just don't touch anything; it should resolve itself (crypt). If there's a chance to catch the fish, you can treat it separately and release it back after two weeks. Once, two hippos got sick; I caught one and treated it, but I couldn't catch the other. The one I treated unfortunately died, while the other one remained alive and healthy... That's how it is.
Diana8604
The UV was turned on for a month, and now... it's unclear what helped, maybe the aquarium just stabilized... some UVs are never turned off, but they kill everything, including plankton...
In general, the author of the topic is probably a very lazy person; there's no need to even search, just go to the Diseases section of the aquarium and on the first page:
and there are more topics about crypts and more...
Wendy8540
I try to keep myself from making unnecessary comments on some of your phrases to avoid starting ... I'm in the loop. I'll explain that I read about these topics two weeks ago when I had this problem in my aquarium, which is why I turned to Anatoly to borrow ParaGuard, because it was Saturday evening and it was too late to order. Besides you and me, there are at least three dozen other sailors who have faced this issue.
Jade
1. Based on the main medical principle "It's easier to prevent a disease than to treat it," I support the advice on quarantine. Keep everything in quarantine. Prevention is the key to health.
2. There is also a joke: "Shall we treat it or let it live?" Many experienced aquarists believe that it's much easier to heal than to cure.
To be a professional, one must study a lot and have plenty of practice, while self-treatment can ruin the entire reef.
Angela
What’s the point of creating yet another thread about crypto when an existing one could be bumped? There aren’t three dozen threads; everyone who has encountered this has posted in one of the three topics... it’s unclear what exactly the author didn’t like.
John
Off-topic, the author seems to be confused; there are enemies everywhere, betrayal everywhere. Instead of resolving everything civilly, he argues with everyone and thinks that everyone is trying to deceive him.
