I want to set up a 110-liter marine aquarium for the New Year! I have a few questions! How do I properly make a sump? How much should be in it? And where should everything be located? If possible, photos of your sumps! Thank you in advance!

Erica

take an aquarium and glue dividers into it the number, sizes, etc. will depend only on the owner's preferences and what they will be doing there. the standard option is two dividers, three compartments - after that, everyone "makes it up" as they want and how they want

I am currently preparing to set up a marine aquarium. The size will be 60*40*45 or 60*40*40. Is it a crazy idea to start without a sump, relying only on a hang-on or external filter? For this, I am even willing to reduce the aquarium to, well... 75 liters.

Melanie

A normal idea is an "aquarium without a sump" with a hang-on skimmer and an external filter. I once had a 250L tank with a hang-on skimmer and an external filter, changed 20% of the water per month, and everything was fine! Here’s a photo from 2003. But if there is a possibility to install a sump, it should be done.

Danielle

Not nonsense at all. The aquarium also has no sump. It just has a refugium with a cassette at the end of the aquarium, where the core is. There is also an aerobic filter.

My (or rather a) version of the sample:

Thank you, you gave me hope. Can the external filter be selected the same way as for freshwater? 3-5 volumes? Is it possible? Well, it is basically possible, I just don't want to complicate things right now; this aquarium will be more of a test, a trial, so to speak (this doesn't mean I will be a cruel person and conduct experiments).

As a rule, the first marine aquarium is indeed a test.

Aha... and then seasickness starts, and the neon colors are no longer neon, and the discus fish are no longer royal))). Everything changes places, a big sea )) a small freshwater one.

It turns out there are 2 types of seasickness.

Why an external filter? For 110 liters (if you don't install a sump), buy a Deltec 300 and you won't need any external filter - I just don't remember if the 300 has a container for absorbents.
