• Inadequate coloration of the hepatocyte...

  • Matthew

This Paracanthurus hepatus was acquired with the usual (classic) coloration. However, after about six months of normal keeping in the reef, the coloration became completely dark blue, without the characteristic pattern. Has anyone among the sailors encountered a similar phenomenon, and what do they think could have contributed to this?

In our office, it was something like that with the hapatus, but the black spot was almost all over the body. It came in normal, about 5-6 cm, and then it became almost black and didn't grow for 2 years. Now the coloration is normal, and it has started to grow very quickly (catching up on lost time).
