I am currently using "three ions" from Fluval (from regular group purchases) - in fact, in two bottles - there is a considerable amount of micronutrients, as well as calcium, strontium, magnesium, and buffer... I am satisfied. The buffer is not super, but at a price of 50 per liter, it's quite reasonable... The cost of maintaining a 200 net liters of water aquarium for 3 months is around 100-300, depending on the population density (I change 3-8% of the water per quarter, no more).

Emma

I am currently trying aquarium systems reef tonic, but the Kh just won't rise. I'm already pouring in 30 ml a day for my 140 liters. And the only inhabitants in the aquarium are soft corals and two euphyllias... Before that, I used Seachem reef carbonate and Seachem reef complete, and the Kh, for example, would rise with a much smaller dose of the product.

Laura7633

What is the level of kh and what is needed?

Lisa

The Kh was 5, after dosing 50 ml of the product it rose to 7. Now the Reef Tonic is finished and the Kh literally dropped to 6 in just one day (I did tests yesterday). Ca and Mg remained at the same levels, 420 and 1250 respectively...

Yolanda

KH tends to decrease, even in a soft reef there are Carolina and other calcium/alkalinity consumers. I use balling to maintain KH/CA at the necessary level. In a soft reef, there are fewer consumers, but they do exist. In the beginning, even when there were no hard corals, KH dropped to 6-7, despite the aquarium being almost empty and having a considerable volume. On the other hand, such KH may not be critical in a soft reef...

Anthony

Yes, it's not critical, but it seems to affect the growth rate and color. So which balling method is better to use? It shouldn't be expensive. It doesn't even have to be from ready-made solutions; you can make your own mixtures. From ready-made solutions, I'm looking at Seachem Reef Carbonate, which in the instructions says it can raise Kh to 9 and also raises pH... Does anyone use this wonder?

Holly

Used in a small sea. And the reef builder from Sikema as well. It turns out to be expensive. It's an extremely uneconomical option, especially where the price is twice the retail price. The cost of maintaining 200 liters in terms of money is 100 per kN/rN, but raising it to the norm is half a liter as if from a bush.

Antonio

I have a question about which baling machine and self-mixer people use. The trendy ones are quite expensive. What can you recommend?

Troy8808

I use calcium chloride hexahydrate from chemical reagents + soda also from chemical reagents. Salt without salt, Tropic Marin. Once I took anhydrous calcium chloride, but it had a brown residue, so I didn't use it.

Guy

I use anhydrous sodium bicarbonate.

Marie5735

I also think about anhydrous soda that has been calcined. And what can replace salt without salt?

Rodney7316

It is also interesting and informative.

and that two is better than one

Which magnesium is better?

Ryan

Magnesium sulfate + magnesium chloride, I will provide the weights later.

Nicole

Here you can find everything from different types of balling to magnesium.

I really liked the very simplified balling method. I only have two dispensers. Apparently, I will need to add magnesium manually. It seems like it needs to be added once a week.
