Take from FAUNA, the quality and price are excellent.

I use Seachem charcoal. In small aquariums where there are no foamers. There are no unwanted algae, and the water is crystal clear.
Monica
I had a thread starting to come out from it in the previous aquarium.
Brent5588
Yes, I think I will do that, thank you all)
Maria6659
Strange. I have never seen a thread in my aquariums.
Ryan1989
I have been using Aquamedic's granulated carbon for several years, and I have only positive feelings about it. The thread is definitely not from it.
Nicole7122
I might not understand something, but what does coal have to do with thread?????
Judy
The best coal is D-D ROWA Carbon; it doesn't produce dust and doesn't leach phosphates, but it's also the most expensive and not available for sale here. A more affordable option that has a good reputation is Two Little Fishies Hydrocarbon 2 Granulated Activated Carbon and Reef Carbon. You can ask A about the first one, as he seems to sell Two Little Fishies, but the second one is only available for shopping from abroad.
I haven't used FAUNA in Ultra Carb L, but I plan to try it; in terms of price/quality, I think it's the best option. Max, how does it perform with dust? Does it require a long wash?
In principle, any branded coal can be used as long as it doesn't leach phosphates.
Chelsea567
I consider it the best among brands, and the price is twice as low. I don't see the point in ordering coal from America; we have plenty of it here. In any case, coal needs to be soaked for at least 12 hours, then thoroughly rinsed under running water, and everything will be fine.
Lynn4242
Or pour boiling water over it a couple of times with rinsing.
Lindsey3628
well, or like this
Gabrielle5053
The thread is not from coal; it was present in the aquarium in small amounts. When adding coal, it started to act up, and it was checked twice. There was information online that almost any coal contains phosphates, which is possibly why there is a "coal-antiphose" sigel. In general, right now there is only Purigen in the aquarium, and PhosGuard is added periodically; coal is not used, and I don't see any particular problems with that.

What about KZ? Has anyone used it? It doesn't respond to requests.
Alexander
KZ is more expensive than FAUNA. Both coals are of good quality.
Eric8832
I'm currently using Deltake, previously KZ. I haven't noticed much difference, except for the grain size of the coal; Deltake is finer. I rinse it with hot water thoroughly! I remembered that in the annotation for some coal (not Deltake) it was written to use it for only a few days if necessary... 3-5 days, I think, and that confused me.
Rita
That's right. FAUNA also has two types, a three-day and a monthly deposit. One takes it slowly, the other takes everything at once.
Johnny
Damn, it's time to start charging for advertising with alcohol.
David3217
Max, where can I buy FAUNA in Ultra Carb L coal?
