The topic is interesting, but there can be different opinions here. "Fertilizers for the sea" can basically be made by oneself. For example, in our city, there is a store-warehouse for chemical reagents. Once, you could buy some things there. However, times have changed. Now, if you manage to buy something, it’s only in quantities of 5 kg or more. But why would I need, say, 5 kg of potassium iodide, or 5 kg of magnesium sulfate? To turn my place into a branch of their warehouse? And it's not cheap either. You can get what you need at the pharmacy, but they don’t have everything that is necessary.

Emma

Here are the reflections on the ME, etc., even though the topic is about the Black Sea water.

Daniel

Here Sleepy described some homemade supplements. Here's another interesting topic about homemade sea salt. Basically, it's a ready-made recipe for supplements, but how to determine what and how much to add to the aquarium...

Paul

In the late 80s to the mid-90s, we had one specialist in the whole city who mixed seawater with improvised materials. However, with the arrival of branded salts, he stopped this practice. Soon, he completely gave up on the sea, but that's another story. Now, with a rich selection of salts and minerals at hand, there's no need to look for ways to obtain various components and complicate things with pharmacy scales. The main thing is that the prices are not outrageous, but that depends on who you encounter. I bought all sorts of jars with liquids and powders, and just add them, but make sure to add them wisely.

This puzzled you in the morning)) But seriously, it is necessary to have a sufficiently accurate tool for determining concentrations of magnesium in water. Even test kits like Salifert can give significant errors in measurements, not to mention cheaper ones. There was a case when five GBL tests for magnesium showed different results ranging from 800 to 1500 mg per liter.

Have the calculations already been canceled? You are wrong. I easily buy ANY weights from 50 grams and above. We were drinking beer and chatting yesterday.

Jason9385

That's how it is for you there in Donetsk. We had it like that 5 years ago. Now it's only like this. And there's only one warehouse of its kind for the whole city. The last time, I tell you, was 5 years ago, they released 200 grams of rivanol and said that's it...

Courtney4094

Especially for Anatoly

Joseph8592

No, dear, I buy it in Kryvyi Rih, it's closer to you.

Brandy1134

Yes, I would rather order from Lazarchuk. It's a 10-minute drive from me. JBL triple, Aqua Medic, Sera, etc. I've been working with him for several years now.

Jennifer7159

Off-topic ...you bourgeois, Taranenko))

Wendy8540

It would be interesting to try to whip up this ME on the fly and calculate the cost of the entire product. Including the trip to the supplier, shipping, and preliminary and final washing, because as we know, an unwashed product is not guaranteed. If it's profitable, we can think about pooling our resources to brew this potion and enjoy it wholeheartedly. I would also help novice sailors; the act of helping is the noblest endeavor.

Nicholas5194

It's quite simple. Just about the iron ...... I think it's better to take iron gluconate and not deal with chelating with Trilon or acid.

Sarah7284

Off-topic, Seryoga... how's the wildlife in the sea? I'm worried... will they starve? And the corals, soft as they are, still need attention. Asterinas, ophiuroids, and polychaetes will figure out who to eat...

Jill1815

In my opinion, it's better not to take anything and not to try to outsmart fate, otherwise you might end up with a mess. Currently, there is salt without salt that has been tested for years by leading companies before being released for sale. Don't create problems for yourself and your reef.

Hannah

Everything is fine. Rakov Olga fed her yesterday with pieces of fish (without excess). As for the rest, they are sitting quietly for now.

Angel2396

I'll wait to see whose aquarium will suffer from such homemade chemicals. A marine aquarium is so cheap!

David3217

Here is the detailed information from Facebook about the billing. From the author's aquarium photo, it is clear that without KR SPS, LPS corals thrive.

Andrea8397

edit... sitty from the magazine "Reef Aquarium"; Fedor copied it on our forum.

Mitchell3177

What do calculations have to do with it? How can you know that you are lacking cobalt or vanadium? For making salt, yes, you can calculate, but what then? The simplest way is to use high-quality sea salt, plus KR, you won't go wrong. Once, on the manufacturer's recommendation, I added iodine to a three-ton reef, then I bought a Salifert test in Moscow (it was about eight years ago), and when I measured it, the iodine level was off the charts by about five times.

Jeffrey6189

If you simply repeat the signature salt 1:1, you will get the same result as from the original. Once, a literary scholar claimed that the "Iliad" was not written by Homer, but by another Greek with the same name - it didn't make it any worse. However, in this case, I am not suggesting to replicate the salts in all their details. I know the prices of vanadium, cobalt, and more "exotic" salts. The discussion is about simpler things, particularly calcium.

Johnny

I personally use calcium supplements from Labreactives. However, I had issues with magnesium a couple of times, but I can't blame the purity of the reagents, as there are many other accompanying factors that affect the animals. Moreover, we mainly have hexahydrate calcium, or even more (very hygroscopic). So, it's like paying for water)) Dihydrate is significantly more expensive and harder to store.

Darlene4238

Yes, it's harder to store without water. No matter how hard you try, it still "gets used up." But it turns out that in principle, it's possible, and not just possible, but many people use it.

Sarah5423

There can also be problems with the use of KR, especially regarding the hydrogen indicator - pH. Before achieving acceptable results, one needs to gain specific experience working with it; otherwise, everything may end sadly. Such cases have already occurred.

Brooke3987

The method with balling is associated with the highest number of errors. It's very easy to destabilize the carbonate system. From anecdotal cases, I ended up with a reef... for conservation, as few are left alive, and they were blowing carbon dioxide directly into the sump.

Rodney

On .......... ???

Mark7376

I don't know, maybe they lowered the pH, there was no one to ask, they kicked this person out.

Jessica5348

With balling, one must stay sharp. Here, excessive generosity is akin to death. Experience also plays a key role.
