The resin needs to be complex, not what is sold on the market. After osmosis, another flask with a replaceable cartridge is installed, and the resin is poured into it. At least that's the case in freshwater.
Diana8604
It's the same in the sea.
I use Dowex MB-50 resin.
Look for companies that deal with filters.
Or ask at ireef. They used to sell it too.
Breanna9982
Any flask, it can be one like the one below the osmosis, or another one available in the store. The cartridge is disassemblable, it can be like that. No. This is a cation exchange resin.
Michelle1662
Ray, according to your resin
Here is the flask
Here is the internal disassembled part
Here I assembled yesterday both the osmosis and the resin (the resin is in the transparent one)

Unfortunately, I don't have a test for silicates. There may be a problem. I have 2 cartridges with resins. 1 - KZ, the second MB-50. TDS-0.
Do you do repairs?
Frank7213
Is resin purchased in Irif?
Patricia
I buy at the filter office. But I saw it for sale at Airife. Ask them.
Danielle8118
I took resin in iRife. It has been lying for six months and still TDS=0!
Stefanie9771
I recently received resin from Airif.

Discussed.

Offtopic, but will there be a prize?
I don't know about others, but for me, there's always "horror" before "beauty," it just doesn't work out any other way with repairs.
I also think that the connection of the resin and the quality of water purification doesn't significantly affect the "background," the stream instead of the pump (the tubes are just not visible there).
By the way, when I replaced my filtered water yesterday, the fish didn't complain either, even though I was dripping in the aquarium for a long time - the fish also had their "electricity changed" yesterday.

I understand that the carbon filter fails, but why do the filters need to be replaced so often? Does the membrane really fail after a year? I'm also confused about the fact that the water just drains into the sewer through the carbon, and the cost of water as well. Has anyone tried shutting off the faucet before the reverse osmosis if it's not needed? Why let the water flow unnecessarily? Does anyone perform disinfection after a long period of non-use?
Tracy
Respected sells (and sells) resin and cartridges.

Huge thanks for the links, and to the moderator for not losing them. I was at this company today: I bought a flask, cartridges, and also gathered all the spare parts with fittings. I had a very pleasant impression of the company located at Turgenevskaya 74, and I bought resin-50 for this cartridge at Airif. I've already connected everything; the TDS is still on the way, and we'll be monitoring the aquarium... For now, the question is closed. I'll leave the topic in case someone else is interested in the question... Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best!

When you poured the resin, did it completely fill the cartridge or not? And how many cartridges with resin did you set up?
I bought 1 liter of resin in iRiff, I want to set up two, is there any point in setting up two?
Christopher1774
Yes, I have one full internal cartridge. One flask holds 650-700 ml, 1 kg won't be enough for two. One or two - a TDS meter in your hands, you need zero at the output.
Joseph8592
The amount of resin affects the "output" time of 0 according to TDS; the more there is, the longer it takes. I have 2 cartridges that last 5-6 months. One lasted up to 2 months. Although it's all individual, I know people from the forum who have one cartridge that lasts 8 months. It's better not to pack it too tightly.
Travis572
In one liter of resin, 750 grams came out. I want to purchase a dismantlable, transparent cartridge.
My tap water showed TDS - 880, after carbon - 930, after the membrane - 16.
A friend has already tested this resin, but just by pouring tap water without osmosis, and he says that the carbonate hardness remained the same while GH dropped. Should KH change in this case, or was he doing something wrong?
Judy
I only saw the outer flask as transparent, I haven't seen the inner one. I don't know, I'm not testing.

Off-topic In the spirit of off-topic, I ask for help: maybe someone has about 5 liters of mixed resin that has exhausted its resources and doesn't want/can't deal with regeneration - I will buy it for 20 per liter (price is negotiable, delivery preferably via Autolux at my expense). You're going to throw it away anyway. P.S. This is not an attempt to buy cheaply, regenerate, and sell as new.
Eric
I found this message from balex on the logo. Is it true that MV-46 is better? What resin is everyone using, and has anyone measured the water output besides using a TDS meter?
Elizabeth6302
I think this information is already outdated. It depends on the SPECIFIC manufacturer, and it doesn't matter if it's MV-46 or MV-50; after osmosis and freshly loaded resin, with a low flow through the resin cartridge, the TDS should be zero. Further on...
Adam4310
It's easy to find out the resin manufacturer if, for example, I buy from a regular company that sells filters.
Emily3506
Duwex or Purolait. (I might have made a spelling mistake). P.S. I would buy it at Ireef right now ....... and wouldn't have to deal with companies and bags....
Justin9867
I set the resin. Let 2-3 liters run off, measured TDS first at 4, then after some time at 3. After the membrane, it was 5-7. The flow is small - it seems like the water should be in good contact with the resin. Or should I let it run off a bit more?
Heather
Let it flow for an hour or two, let the resin swell, my TDS shows 001 after the resin, the stream is also small.
Stephen5841
I have less than a liter left and already 0.
Vanessa
What is the TDS of the water at your inlet?
Charles894
Is it a lot or a little? There were 251. I was surprised that such water flows from the tap in Dnipro.
Eric5208
I have a new osmosis system that has never shown below 30 ppm. In Donetsk, the tap water is 650-670 ppm.
Vanessa6144
Hmm. It seems that the TDS of an ordinary Chinese product is not lying. I should check it. I also expected to see around 600 in the tap.
Scott9892
Has anyone tried regenerating Dowex MB-50 resin? Yesterday, an employee at the filter sales company told me that this resin can be regenerated in a saline solution. Is that true???
Amy9618
Yes, these resins can be regenerated, but they need to be separated first.
Jennifer5784
Thank you for the response, you gave me a link to the article.
