I haven't used the TDS-4 device, but I've heard positive reviews about it.

Not suitable. Measures up to 10 ‰. For osmosis, this is normal. A refractometer is needed for seawater.
Vanessa
I bought it here for osmosis.
It measures normally - it has 2 channels. Definitely not suitable for saltwater.

So it will work as TDS, but not for measuring salinity? Do we need to use separate devices only?
Emily
Absolutely right. Salinity and total dissolved solids (TDS) are related concepts, but they are very different measurement scales.
Nicholas
And that device in the link a? Or one like this? Do these work like a real salinity meter and TDS?
Cheryl9296
This is like a density meter, it won't work for you; you need a refractometer. Here are the links or a regular water density meter.

Chuck is probably on a break?
Amanda
Thank you.
Is this glass enough for the sea?
Then the question is settled.
Thank you all.

I have been using this for a year and a half. I am completely satisfied. As they say, cheap and cheerful. I have two Aqua Medic Salimeters, just in case, and one smaller SERA one. SERA Saltwater Hydrometer - SERA hydrometer. Best regards.
Kyle
I have been using this device for about a month.
I am very satisfied. Before this, I had and still have a simple refractometer in reserve. I also have an aquamedic hydrometer somewhere. That's where I started.
Andrew4194
If you buy a refractometer, can you also measure the quality of osmosis with it, or do you need to have two devices, a refractometer and a TDS meter?
Vincent
No, it won't be possible to measure the quality of osmosis with a refractometer. The sensitivity of the refractometer is too low for that. Tap water won't deviate much from its scale.
Lauren
Has anyone used or have reviews about this device - TDS meter combined with a thermometer TDS-3TM (comes with a case)?
The low price compared to other offers was appealing. It is needed for monitoring water from an osmosis filter.
Denise
A normal TDS meter, I think the price doesn't matter...

To the topic author.
If you want to measure both here and there...
You need a calorimeter.
But the cost, unfortunately...
If you buy one separately for the sea and for osmosis,
It will be cheaper
Than one for both purposes.

Thank you! I bought it and I'm using it.

I ordered it there at Mir Komfort, and how about the responsiveness.
Karen
Yes, that's where I ordered it. It's been half a year already, I just saw the unanswered post. There didn't seem to be any problems, I sent the money and received it through a shipping company a couple of days later. The device came in a case. I check the osmosis once a week just in case.
