Hello! In principle, the water from the Black Sea is quite suitable; just add salt to achieve the desired density. However, I would recommend preparing the water for salting separately, rather than adding salt directly to the Black Sea water.

Caleb6320

Good afternoon! The Black Sea water can be brought to full salinity through evaporation and adding seawater. This was done from Crimea, successfully keeping tropical creatures. However, of course, having unlimited access to natural water, decorations, and animals makes it easier and cheaper to maintain a Black Sea aquarium. Sincerely.

Sarah

Thank you for the answers. In general, the idea was to save on the osmotic installation and the amount of salt. If it's not too much trouble, could you please explain why it would be better to dissolve salt separately from seawater? Did I understand correctly that I took a larger volume of water than the one being replaced, and due to evaporation, I obtained a smaller volume with higher salinity? The Black Sea is probably easier (relatively speaking) to maintain, but I would like more exotic options for myself and my family, especially for the children. I might set up the Black Sea at work, but it's already a bit too cold to get into the water behind the rocks.

Gabriel

The fact is that when dissolving salt in seawater (Black Sea water), a precipitate may form and the ratios of elements in the water may be disrupted; artificial salts are initially designed to dissolve in low-mineralized water...

Cynthia

Thank you! I wanted to save a bit, after all, it means "space" + salt, and if desired, adding water from the sea.

Charles4157

Does anyone have the exact salt composition of Black Sea water?

Amanda

Why is that necessary? To make salt (the composition) yourself? There are great salts available now, you can reduce the salinity and move on. Naturally, using osmotic water, you kill two birds with one stone: you get clean water for yourself and it will also be useful for the aquarium.

Jason

exactly,

Daniel4967

thank you so much... if it's not too much trouble, please send the data on trace elements as well... the thing is, my marine aquarium is still just a project (a dream)... so I decided to practice first on what is available... I have the salt components, and they promised to bring some rocks with some living creatures... )))

These are well-known facts; the characteristic of the Black Sea, its low salinity, is due to the large influx of river waters, which results in low biodiversity in the Black Sea, but thanks to the high influx of nutrients, it has greater productivity. Naturally, nutrient-rich waters are less transparent due to the higher concentration of algae and plankton, and so on. If anyone is interested, it's better to read here:

Interesting article. By the way, it confirms my words: high content of organic matter and nitrogen and phosphorus-containing salts. If SPS is planned to be maintained, definitely no to Black Sea water.

Travis572

The Black Sea is big. Where did you go hunting? I liked it in Sevastopol near the lighthouse, and in August a friend was near Fiolent, diving; he said the visibility was about 15 meters.

Kevin3579

In this case, I was fishing in the area of Koktebel - Novy Svet at the end of April. Visibility was 5 meters. The area and time of year are notable for the possibility of catching flounder. I've heard about the places around Sevastopol, known for the thornback rays. Sorry for the off-topic.

Chelsea

Um, is this a microelement??? I think it is listed as a macro one... And why does it make no sense to add it???

Kristin

Guys!!! Don't confuse the person and yourselves!! I'm telling YOU that you can use Black Sea water for coral aquariums. That's what natural seawater is for, you just need to add some salt and THAT'S IT! For example, I often go to Tarkhankut, and the water there is crystal clear, especially in spring before the swimming season starts. The only thing you need to do is pass the water through an ozonator or another device to reduce the amount of pathogenic flora and fauna, and even that is not significant!!!!!!

Meghan

Show a photo of your reef in the Black Sea water...

Jessica5016

Yes, I would like to take a look.

Amber1273

I also want to see and ask - HOW do you deal with such a large amount of iron and silicates in the Black Sea water in the reef, and if the information about permanent residency is to be believed - how do you transport water to us in Donetsk from 650-700 km away?? Or is it all just bare theory, not supported by practice? (This question is also interesting to me because I, having a Black Sea aquarium, do water changes every three to four months using regular cheap salt and don't worry about it. But if I had access to live Black Sea water, I would at least periodically add some natural product.)

Lori4746

I have this natural product right next to me - the whole sea... and yet I (and not just me) buy salt, and not the cheapest one.

Tasha

I'll try to guess..... It was summer, and the stones were transported "as God willed".... and all the living creatures simply boiled on the way to permanent residence..... Or am I mistaken.... After all, the stones were transported in thermoboxes according to all the rules of transportation of live stones? "Put the heater in the freezer and see who wins?" You can... but salt will be cheaper than the absorbents, which will have to be bought more often.

Jeffrey496

In short, in the spring, anyone who can get 20-40 liters of water, I will pay for the container and logistics to the card of whoever can do this, instead of spreading thoughts all over the place. I have a 110-liter aquarium where I conduct experiments. I will fill it up and see. Once again. Otherwise, the water from Karadag caused all my diatoms to turn brown in May 2013. I don't use any sorbents at all; I'm just going to transfer the most capricious and mutant ones to the new aquarium.

Nancy758

Come on... what do I have to do with it? I'm not discouraging anyone... if you want to play with our water, go ahead... it's what you call "on mines..." I’ll say it again - having a whole SEA of "natural product" at hand, I still keep buying salt. P.S. I would be surprised if I find out that someone in Crimea is pumping water from the Black Sea for their reef aquarium (as of today, I don't know anyone like that).

Brent7831

There is a big difference between "lives" and "beautiful aquarium." Did you have a beautiful aquarium in the Black Sea water, or was everything just alive there?

Stephanie4990

Well, to make it clearer, I will say that everything was alive, beautiful, and even reproduced! I think everything will be clear!

Amber1273

I've heard many times how people set up systems on the Black Sea water and stones, and everything looks beautiful and good, but I haven't seen a photo of a beautiful aquarium. You are no exception... I still haven't seen a photo of your aquarium...

Crystal

Forget it. Welcome.... the more top layer you remove.... the cleaner, I hope, the sea will be for us))

Jason5071

We have a good proverb about those who pay twice and thrice... This summer, I will try to centrifuge the local plankton in the Sinop area. The water there is clean, and the salinity is a couple of parts per thousand higher than in Krymsk, by the way. It's clear that freezing or preserving with ascorbic acid (and throwing it into salinity over 30 parts per thousand would tear all membranes from shock) is not an option, but I'm very curious about how feasible this process is in our sea.

Nicholas

How complicated everything is for you... I buy sea salt and dilute it with tap water (to the amount specified on the package)... and that's it!

Leah

The tap water in Germany and here are two different universes. Please pay attention.

Joseph8842

Well, well. I take you under my control, as I love to calculate the encrypted ones. Can I, dear sailor, have a photo of your aquarium on the German Water Supply? I'm waiting!

Wanda666

Could you please tell me where I can find a list of water parameters for specific seas (for example, the Adriatic Sea)?

Kevin

In the internet, it's so easy! You type in a question and get an answer! Here is the very first one.

Daniel8015

You sent me two links, but I couldn't find the answer to my question there.
