Laura9093

Congratulations! Another sailor has arrived. You are preparing thoroughly for the sea business.

Amy5070

Safe travels! Regarding the "worms" - those areiptasia. Remove them. Relocate the parazoanthus to another rock. What kind of light is installed?

Tracey

my congratulations on the launch)

Darrell7542

With a start. In the samp, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the clamps with plastic ones (while the hoses are still flexible) because the metal ones will "burn out" from the humid air very quickly.

Andrea

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE LAUNCH! Wishing you smooth sailing! We have gained a new member in our ranks.

Stephen5857

Oh-oooo!!!! Congratulations!!!! But I don't understand - there are no mines??? And what is the purpose of the two stone pipes?

Jessica

In the center of the back wall, there is a trapezoidal shaft. It can be seen in the first photo.

Wendy2244

What are the plans for retirement?

Jessica5016

Exactly!!! Beautifully done!!! Excellent!!! Well camouflaged - I didn't even notice it. And the pipes in the stones??? Are other ones going to be strung on them?

Joseph

I won't clamp the plastic with the clamps, that's why I'm using metal. Water is only in the form of vapor, but I installed a 120mm fan for intake, hoping it won't cause direct contact with water. The foam is lying around, waiting for me to set it up - Deltec 600 - it will be placed on the right side. I will also be putting a calcium reactor, calcium dispenser, and auto top-off in the cabinet. These are not pipes but rods that are screwed into a small base, and I will be placing live rocks on them when they arrive... And dry reef rocks enhance the stability of the entire system.

George5104

What's the point of both??? Or did I misunderstand something - I just set the KR and that's it.

Wanda666

They work proportionally - one lowers the pH, the other raises it. It may not be needed 100%, but I read a lot and immediately got it, as there is very little space - and the task was to fit everything in.

Jade

And then, when calcium precipitates in the osmosis inside the aquarium, there will be a picture of a winter reef on the night of Kupala. A properly adjusted KH does not lower anything to critical parameters, in the sense of setting something against it. Right now, I have KH 12 for a week, and pH 8.15 and Ca 440, which, as it turned out according to the KH-Ca balance table, is very good.

Justin

Sanya, you sound just like a scene from a horror movie - you really need to approach everything with some sense. Here’s the manufacturer's description. Read it below - I think it will be interesting for general knowledge.

April3499

You don't have such calcium consumption in your aquarium; if you plant a lot of SPS, you'll have to increase the power of the calcium reactor, and the pH will start to drop immediately.

Susan

It's not a fact - there are counterarguments from our "successful" individuals.

Jonathan6173

Probably just hasn't tried. It clamps without any issues. In a humid environment, metal corrodes much more than just submerging it in water. The laws of physics have not been canceled by anyone. And this 2-in-1 is really unnecessary.

Rodney3101

Since the oxidation process of metals occurs only in the presence of oxygen, which is much more abundant in the "air" (%) than when submerged in water, the same applies to metals in the ground; for example, a stake driven into the corner will "decay" faster above ground.

Andrea

Why? Take the largest "format" with pliers by the edge and go ahead. Just don't overdo it. It tightens up very well.

Rodney3101

This looks more like a marketing gimmick.

John3187

I'm afraid that the pressure from the return pump will definitely break such a tight connection; this option won't work at all... If it were just a drain, then there would be a chance, but as it is, I don't think so. As for the calvasser, I can't argue about it yet since it's just a theory - we'll live and see.

Joseph

Those simple cable ties are sold in every hardware store or construction market. Don't doubt their strength - they are used instead of handcuffs (by the police), and tightening them with pliers is even better with round-nose pliers - pinch the end and twist it around the lips.

David7773

It won't break through, I have 12500 l/h on the return going to the UV, and then a split to two tanks. Several transitions and everything is on such clamps. Not a single one even thinks about "leaking."

Wesley

It doesn't sweep away - it is rough as it is - this is me, as a specialist in advertising and anti-advertising, saying ... "This screw is more convenient and correct to tighten with a special screwdriver for this screw, which we have in our range, with a complete set of such screwdrivers."

Scott9892

I was persuaded, tomorrow I'll go buy it - I'll try it out... I'll show the effect and tell you about it. Guys, stop messing around, or I'm going to start getting upset - I bought it, let me play with it.

Ricardo7341

If I don't forget, I'll take pictures of mine tomorrow. It's still early.

Scott8536

I don't understand the debates about KVs; they just started producing them. I'll see when one of the debaters starts lacking calcium, increases the gas supply/water flow, and when the pH starts to drop. It's as if people have nothing better to do than buy them for aesthetics. And there's nothing wrong with the fact that the topic's author decided to buy it in advance; there's no need to shout about why he did it.

Cynthia

Congratulations! In the photo are aiptasia and fan worms. Put the aiptasia in the toilet, bury the fan worms in the substrate - they will come out on their own and it will look beautiful. This advice is very practical. You can put 100 fans in the cabinet, but the metal will still rust, and quite quickly. Install all this equipment and don't listen to those who will try to dissuade you from a closed system. Otherwise, you'll end up dependent on chemicals. This way, everything is automated with minimal intervention.

Charles5941

I installed a Hofer overflow for myself, who is using it? I have a bit of noise on the siphon, not loud, but there is a sound. Maybe someone can share more detailed settings or does it make some noise anyway? As an option, I also want to set up a Durso, I made a disassemblable system in advance so that I could change it to any drain.

Helen

As an innovator in life, I also wanted to set it up - then I gave up and made a Dursot - it's easier to make.

Jeffrey

After about a month and a half, everything calmed down for me - it makes noise when it's new.

Pamela

On the "logo" a couple of people - it's unlikely here, because from what I've read, it should be completely silent.

Emily

I would like to clarify this nuance. So if anyone else has conducted experiments with us, I would appreciate the information.

Kristen2246

A friend of mine has one on a 600-liter aquarium, it's just what you need, you can't hear it at all, as if it's not there...

Rebecca

I bought clamps today (though the biggest ones turned out to be 3.6), overall the experience is sad - I just tear them apart - and they don't tighten properly at all. What do people use for minimal clamping? Fighting with aphids is an interesting thing, they are in some slime - I tried to clean them out, but I suspect that some particles are still left and we will meet again. But I read that you can introduce some creatures that eat them very well.

Lori4746

The livestock may eat the aiptasia or may not. My helmon has grazed all the small stuff, but it left one bush, the largest one in the background, and is ignoring it. You drip a few drops of lemon into a shot glass of boiling water, draw the boiling water into a syringe, and inject it at the base of the aiptasia. For convenience, you can bend the syringe needle. You don't need to collect the drips afterward—nothing bad will happen from a few dissolved aiptasias in your aquarium's volume.

Jason9952

Among the main ones: Helmon and Wundermani. But it depends on luck... 50-50. Vinegar is dangerous for the aquarium, it should be used very moderately; boiling water doesn't always work. I don't recommend chemicals at all. It's better for shrimp and fish.

John5528

There are no remnants observed yet, but if I see any, I will try to burn them. I placed the umbrellas on small stones on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), but they are still sitting like stumps.

Mark9853

I finally figured it out with Hofer. Now it's really silent - I'm as happy as a pig in mud. So whoever will be setting it up, I can now help with the settings.

Ryan

Do you feed the dog something, or is it enough for her to eat the growths in the aquarium?

Mitchell7972

If the creatures on the stone in photos 4, 6, and 7 are there, then there is definitely a briarium, the one that is longer. As for the blue ones, I don't know. I'm looking for something here.

Monique1236

It looks more like Anthelia and Mayano to me. If there is Briarium, it is closed (from the bottom, left, and right - J.K. (living stones)). It seems there is still a Discocoma, but I need a photo of each specimen separately and up close.

Dennis

Yes, the stone looks like a stone of Rea. Read the first pages. If you have a mania, it's better to get rid of it before you place the J.K. (living stones).

Andrea6761

I look and they seem similar, only mine have legs and also travel... They are really very beautiful, so green, and at night they actually glow green in the moonlight. It's a shame if they have to be thrown away - and there are a lot of them.

Amy

I don't specifically feed the little dog anything - it constantly gets covered in algae, so I think it's enough for her.

Michele

Here are some better photos of the stone with the "mysterious" inhabitants. What’s the verdict? And how do we get rid of them? Like, do Helmanns not eat them or what?

Anthony7814

Additional info about the sand, I added 27 kg of white aragonite to the aquarium.

Kendra2262

People, I want to share my little joy!!! Finally, I LAID THE STONES!!! I got them from Max (Mgl) - special thanks to him!!! While I was drilling, I almost lost my mind - they seem small, but drilling with an electric screwdriver is a pain - I don't recommend it. In general, everything is in a haze - I'll post photos tomorrow - I hope I laid them well - I really tried.

Heather

Unclear tenants are a mess, 200%! We remove it now, otherwise it will be too late. We take it out into a separate container and then have fun... with the help of a syringe with boiling water. After injecting boiling water into the center of the mess, we remove the needle and try to draw the remaining goo into the syringe. If there is still goo left... we wait for a new mess!

Martha

Some people believe that they live on a separate stone and don't bother anyone - what do you think? Just beautiful creatures. And does no one accidentally eat them in nature?

Stephanie4990

I have one calcinated Mayan. It sits on J.K. (living stones), doesn't bother anyone. It doesn't even want to move anywhere. It doesn't think about increasing its numbers. And this has been going on for about a year. It's hard to explain such a case, if not impossible. Usually, these guys terrorize colonies by settling wherever they want, thus oppressing the polyps. Yes, they are beautiful, but unpleasant. Even the owner has made complaints about where this Mayan has gone... sometimes, for some reason (there was no helmon, and mine doesn't eat them), these guys die off almost completely... or sit as 1-2 pieces like mine and don't make a sound...

Kristen1161

I want to leave them on a separate stone, but there's one problem - they can "fly" from stone to stone. And should Helmon eat them?

Brian6895

I don't have...

Melinda2740

I understand that. I have a question - should I? In theory ...

Brent7831

Only those whose Helmon truly destroyed the Mayano can answer this question. I don't have a precise answer on this matter; maybe there is one... When I brought the Helmon for dealing with the Aiptasia, the Mayano disappeared along with it. However, I didn't see the process itself, so I won't assert anything for sure. Maybe the Mayano disappeared for a completely different reason...

Lindsey3628

I also don't eat. But Chaetodon semilarvatus is not easy to pull away; it eats it and other corals and anemones quite well. P.S. What’s so stressful about the Majano? They are no match for aiptasia – it’s like a children's party. I have a few of them in a mixed reef specifically for breeding butterflies. Some corals outcompete them much faster than these Majano can react.

Cheryl9296

There is one more question for you. Yesterday, I placed the stones, and this morning I see a picture - a bloody shrimp is lying on its back and twitching its legs. What could have caused this situation, and can it be helped? Two toras and one more bloody shrimp are feeling fine.

Maria

The thing is, it doesn't bother me yet - on the contrary, I actually like it. It's just that there are only suggestions for extermination around.

Jennifer5784

So what's the point of measuring - the aquarium is 1 month old, freshly salted. I understand that measurements should be taken about 2-3 weeks after placing the stones. The pH during the day is up to 8.3, at night it drops to 7.97-8. And it also drops after feeding. I'll check this evening what happens with the stones.

Andrea6761

I just don't understand how you will transplant them to a separate stone? What I see is a great clearing with cornelian, mushrooms, and briarium... plus a large number of mayans. Do you want to remove all of this and leave the mayan?

Brandy1134

I don't see the point. It's more of a stereotype. I've seen many aquariums with Mayano, and none of the owners complained about them. This could also be one of the reasons for the shrimp's death. A "mature" aquarium is more suitable for shrimp.

Steven757

Maybe so. But for 2 weeks the shrimp felt good and even molted. And then it just happened.

Mark

Two weeks in a new aquarium is not a benchmark.

Stuart

then we wait and analyze. So when should we start measuring?

Stephanie4990

Anytime. What difference does it make if the aquarium has been running for two weeks or four? Once the system starts functioning and there are living organisms in it, monitoring is necessary to ensure they don't die. You might have one set of parameters today and a different one tomorrow; the aquarium is in the maturation phase. I would actually recommend not to rush with stocking it with fish and demanding invertebrates. Focus your attention on bringing the system to the desired parameters for: No3, Ca, Mg, Po4, pH, and Kh. It would be better to add more macrophytes and live rocks.

Sherri1320

There is no more room to add stones. As for the microfauna, I added a few different worms and similar things at the start, so I hope it will be enough. Then I will take the JBL lab and start measuring.

Kristen1161

macrophytes - in the sense of algae. Worms are a bit different.

Michael3221

Macrophytes are not little worms; they are algae like Caulerpa, Chaetomorpha, and others. Their role in reef formation is extremely important. They are the regulators of the nitrogen cycle in the right direction. It is precisely them that I do not observe in the aquarium, which is a pity.

William

This is a completely unnecessary waste of money. Just take the most essential tests for phosphates and nitrates. It will even be cheaper. Moreover, JBL doesn't have the best reviews.

Gary6376

What, already a full samp?

Michelle104

In the samp, there's a spot just under the algae that remains (and you can also fit about 5 kg of stones). And on Maxim's stones, there's a ton of algae - I haven't specifically filmed it yet. Regarding the tests - I read about JBL - but so far, only Sanya has raised questions, and there don't seem to be any widespread complaints. Or are there already?

Heather6148

There is. When launching algae, there is never too much. Maximize the Heteromorphs, and having a display Caulerpa wouldn't hurt either.

Aaron580

I plan to put Hetamorpha in the samp in the coming days. And a question for the public regarding tests: which ones are better to take???

James5103

Moreover, in Kyiv, there are no problems with this goodness. It is not very demanding in terms of light; it feels equally good under 6500K and 4200K. And it will pull out all sorts of nastiness from the water—it's hard to describe.

Joseph9057

So what's the problem? The system will get better faster.

Alejandro

Well, basically, there’s nothing. I thought it would be enough with what I took, but there’s still a little space left. So it won’t rust behind the stones. Now the pressing question is which tests to choose.

Katie5500

Get in touch with the AiRif team. They had some good TropicMarin tests.

Alexander

I'll drop by, but the selection on the website is disappointing.

Rodney3101

therefore I suggest to call

Katie3017

+1, it's better to take calcium from JBL or some other brand. Otherwise, it's "too thin" in colors.

Heather9815

Here are a couple of photos of the overall structure. I thought the shrimp would leave, but no - it's hanging around, and it seems to be quite affected. Sorry for the quality. But what's most interesting is that the second bloody one is attacking this one...

Kimberly

Call or drop by - the prices on the website are inflated.

Jacqueline5976

So, Sanya, what did you conclude about the tests?

Susan9583

KN-MG-CA - Salit. KN JBL almost led to water drainage - if these are rare cases, then I still have to be a happy owner of such a rarity. NO3-PO4 JBL is convenient for me, but since they are at zero for me, I couldn't appreciate the convenience of the color scale.

Darlene4238

The sand is quite fine, and it could use a bit of leveling and some stones cleared away... And the stones are arranged, even Khufu would be envious. But the main thing is there are fish and a decent snail.

Jennifer7578

The sand is a bit too fine, I agree - the pumps carry it a little, so leveling is useless - half a day and it will be the same. I'll set up corals - and they will be like poplars along the road - protecting from the wind.

Bonnie

So what's the point of this storm in the desert? There's nothing good about it. We need to reduce or redirect the current.

Laura3673

I reduced it, redirected it, and in the end, it turned out like this. But if you smooth it out, it will be like that again. Not in five minutes, but little by little over the course of a day. That is, there is no storm as such, just landscape design.

Kimberly

The pumps can be directed a little upwards.

Christine

so it was directed - slightly upwards. Provided that the pumps are working at about 20% somewhere - the water is playing up top, you bet.

Kathleen

It's still worth playing around - right now, it's just covering stones with sand, later there will be corals standing in the dunes.

Chad

This drowsiness has remained since the initial stage of "setup" - I just didn't clean it off - I don't want to stir up unnecessary trouble.

Anne4851

Sometimes you need to sweep the stones with a brush or blow them with a bulb to remove any dirt (I understand it's to help them breathe), and the cloudiness will clear up in 5 minutes.

Brent8919

Oh, really? Can you elaborate? I was just thinking about this issue. Is there something special for this?

Leah

I don't know, they showed me a glass tube with a pear at the end, a tube in the water, and you work with the pear. Everything falls off the stones. Something like that, personally, I brush it off with a soft brush (I have cyan).

Kristen2246

we need to look for all possible variations

Jason

People have a question - what do you use to clean the windows at the bottom? Only a blade or are there other options?

Ross

There is! Hungry little elephant-strombus.

Barbara8192

5 of these ... and for now the windows are dirty.

James8887

I understand that most people try to clean the glass above the sand very carefully so as not to disturb the sand, which is very important. My two elephants clean it with their trunks reaching up. Fedor Afanasievich even stands on tiptoes to reach higher.

Angela7060

Maybe I'm mistaken, but my strombus snails crawl up the glass to the very top without any issues. Or are the little elephants a different species?

Cindy

No, they are usually affectionately called little elephants because of their trunk. They don't climb on the glass yet; there's something to eat in the sand. It's strange that they climb on the glass but don't clean up underneath themselves...

Gabrielle5053

They crawl on the back window that I don't clean. They especially love to eat the edge of the shimmer, just before the crest - that's probably the best spot.

Laura3673

Kvedor Akhvanasievich drank coffee, wearing a hat. Our strumbuses don't crawl on the glass, and they don't clean from below very well either; they can be different. In general, I clean everything with a blade, I'm not used to magnets.

Joseph

The magnet is already not helping in some places. Given that I took the Aqua Medic magnet - it's a crazy magnet. There are no such problems in the cichlid tank (the aquarium is over a year old) - but here, after a month, it's such a mess.

Katherine

So why was the blade invented? And sand can get under the magnet.

Debra

And you can dive into cichlid tanks with a kitchen sponge.

Brian

I didn't expect such a turn of events either.

Deborah2682

I saw somewhere that they attach a blade to a magnet and use it to ride on glass.

William

Here probably

Danielle

An interesting option, but immediately a downside - in "difficult" places - at the edges - there won't be a proper cleaning. A stick is much more effective. And in the center, even a simple magnet does the job...

Corey3201

It was primitive people and some primates who invented this (just a joke). I haven't used anything other than a stick for 4 months. And in that clever scraper, the blade constantly rusts in the water.

Mike

It cleans well everywhere. To prevent the blade from rusting, it can be removed. Do you have a "prosvetlenka"? If so, many advise against cleaning the "logo" with a blade, as it scratches more easily.

Michelle9986

"enlightenment". But the magnet really doesn't pick up some places.

Lindsey3362

I have a question about the tests: will the general tests work for freshwater and for the sea? I have this little suitcase - is it correct to use these tests in the sea?

Sandra7004

I would still take a suitcase specifically designed for seawater.

David2398

The point is not about what to take, but about what is already there - and whether it can be used in the sea.

Heather

If there is, then why let good go to waste. Just the pH measurement is 3.0 - 10 (very large range, accordingly the accuracy of measurement), pH 6.0 - 7.6 (for a herbivore).

Julia

The drawings include both freshwater and sea. Who has used them?

Sarah5423

I use it. The truth is, I don't have a suitcase; I just have a set of tests from TeTra and JBL. I have no complaints about either one. Everything is marked for freshwater and saltwater.

Jeanne

It is said that bland baits can be used for the sea. However, the accuracy leaves much to be desired...

Allison

So that's the thing - according to the markings, they are for both, just the scales are shifted. As I understand it, the reagents used are the same, so theoretically, it's the same thing. So here are the first tests: SG 1.024 PPT 32 pH 8.15 NH4 JBL 0.05 NO2 JBL 0.07 NO3 JBL 5 KH JBL 8 PO4 JBL 0.02 (it's very hard to tell if it's 0 or not, as there is a slight blue tint on the scale) Later, I will add tests from TM (Mg, Ca, PO4).

Danielle9144

And now measure again in an hour. P.S. Well done, keep it up. You approach the sea meticulously and with care. This is very good.

Andrea6761

I'll update the photo album a bit. I'll refine it a little later and make higher quality ones.

John828

The striped mushroom is very beautiful.

Jeffrey6189

Max took it, along with 5 more corals. Thanks to him, everyone seems to feel good.

Theresa5149

The labels on syringes wear off quickly. On my Salifert, two have already rubbed off, and there are still plenty of reagents left. The jars from JBL reveal their dishonesty - they save money and don't make a proper dropper on the jar, so a drop is not really a drop, but rather a mega bubble - and you have to count them...!!! Salifert's droppers are well made - a drop is a drop, and you can see that it's a dropper, not just a hole in the plastic like with JBL.

Anthony7814

Sanya disagrees about the inaccuracies due to drops, as it is still a relative factor; in the same Tropic Marine, it is quite difficult to precisely catch the boundary of color transition. So there is still no 100% accuracy. As for the complaints about JBL, it could be due to the reagent, for example, or maybe something else. We need to take a JBL test for calcium/magnesium.

William

San, you might be right, but when I see that there's air in the drop, I don't add it, I remove the air. Drops shouldn't be different (at least not significantly). I seem to have the same ones. That's why, for the sake of experimentation, I wanted to take JBL for comparison. Or it can be done differently. I have JBL KN, I will take Tropic Marin. For now, I only have phosphates, both of them, but my phosphates are almost 0, so there's no point in crossing them. By the way, who uses what in terms of anti-phosphate and when did they start using it? Does anyone add anti-phosphate + carbon? Does anyone use Purigen from Sachem (I just have it, does it replace anti-phosphate + carbon)?

Larry

I just pulled out the coal, rinsed it in osmosis, and hung it on the fence to dry - some red algae formed on the bag - it sat for a week and a half. Two weeks ago, I took it out and did the same thing as with the coal. It sat for a month and a half - I still don't understand what it's doing - only the Digitatas and one Acropora have lost their leaves - well, not because of it... So, the NO3-PO4 levels were at zero. It probably absorbs something else, but I didn't notice - the cyano started with them anyway.

Andrea9320

San Purigen removes organic matter.

Frederick

You can gently use a kitchen sponge with its rough side, insert your hand, and scrub the areas where it's overgrown; it cleans well, but the main thing is to be careful not to stir up the sand.

Jonathon8514

In my case, he was probably killing himself and my money spent on him.

Sarah7284

I use SiChem SiGel. It is a mixture of MatrixCarbon (coal) and PhosGuard (anti-phosphate). The diatoms appeared 4 days after the setup. The cyanobacteria are not in a hurry, and the thread algae are not growing much. For now, I will continue using it. Purigen. Some people swear by it, while others are against it. I do not plan to use it. Most likely, it absorbs a lot of what is needed.

Diana7891

How much time has passed since the launch?

Tracy4603

Maybe you made a mistake with the dosage; I read that for the sea, the dosage plays a huge role, but it should last a very long time. I have it in my cichlid tank, and it definitely lasts for about six months, and then it can be recharged.

April3499

Have you been using it for a long time? I read that people are not very satisfied with Sichev's antifouling, but their coal is good. And one more question for the community - what do people use to attach corals to rocks - underwater? Moment Gel works great out of the water (thanks to Max for the tip), but what about in the aquarium?

Brandon4517

It's been 3 weeks since the launch. The dosage is slightly less than recommended. They say Moment Gel can even be applied directly in water. I tried using Moment's 2-component Epoxy directly in water... The results are in my thread. Although it seems to hold now, it's not the same result as gluing a dry surface out of water. I glued S.R.C. (dry reef rocks) when dry - it worked fine.
