Light,
flow + attack from Ksenia,
change of water parameters
Chad4168
Try feeding, there may be a lack of nutrients in the water.
Denise
The only parameter that fluctuates is salinity, but it is within the normal range according to the float salinity meter (I forgot what this device is called). Light... well, what about the light built into Yasha (AquaMedic)... could it be insufficient or excessive? Websites say it's better to set it lower... As for feeding, I don't know, I don't know... first of all, we feed it at night, it opens up very well after the light is turned off, we feed it frozen artemia about every three days, and based on observations, it started to feel this way right after we began feeding it... although it's quite possible that this is just a coincidence...
Kellie
Do you rinse Artemia or not? If you don't rinse them, phosphates and nitrates may have risen significantly, and they could be the cause. It's also important to know the calcium level, as it's necessary for the skeleton of LPS corals. If it's too low, that could also be a problem.
Sheila1322
How do you rinse it?
Jennifer5371
Yes, it's hard to say anything without tests, but we definitely rinse the atemia, not with osmosis, but with tap water.
Natasha7622
In my opinion, it can be done with plumbing; there is no "crime" evident here.
Cheryl9296
Moreover, they haven't been adding chlorine to our water supply for over a decade, except for rare cases. Somewhere there was even a topic about successfully starting a marine aquarium with tap water.
Brent5588
And there it seems the water supply was being launched. However, this was not happening here; God forbid, we can't, under any circumstances...
Mitchell7972
Let's conduct a simple experiment. We'll pour tap water into a clean bottle and water based on O.O. into another clean bottle. We'll compare these two substances in terms of purity and transparency. Without straining our eyesight too much, we'll see that the first one significantly loses to the second, with its yellowish tint, transparency, and even the characteristics of movement... And there lies the answer to all questions. If you want to ruin the reef, use tap water. It contains everything necessary for its rapid destruction, even things we are unaware of and do not suspect. This is what the sanitary-epidemiological service remains silent about, and what is kept in strict secrecy from the public.
Brandy
It's a pity for the little animal; it will suffer.
Kayla7655
You see, Ryuha, blindly believing is also bad...
P.S. No offense again, a lot is written on fences too, but why do we not believe the fence, while we believe books or unverified rumors????777777
Joshua
So almost on all forums there is a situation like... What is my reef growing?...... What are you pouring?.... Tap water!...... Curtain!
After all, resin is not used just like that.
Natalie
Here we go again... So explain why my future minion will die on the plumbing and with what? I can also write a lot of things...
Russell8484
Where in this topic was anything mentioned that is based on rumors and unverified?
Cassandra7840
Lesha, no one said anything... I probably expressed myself incorrectly. I just have an acquaintance (a neighbor in the building) who started not just with S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), but also with plumbing. Let it be a fairy tale in many eyes, but it's really true. Yes, the aquarium isn't super, yes, there is currently some hair algae, and again, yes, the aquarium still has a long way to go. But everything is alive and healthy... We'll be at his place on the 24th, I'll take photos on my phone...
P.S. The aquarium is only 4 months old, with bacteria and Sichemo's chemistry added...
Brianna
I also have a similar issue with my caulastrea, but with the two-colored one. It doesn't fully open, although the green one puffs up completely. The parameters in the aquarium have become not very good, with hardness at 8.5 and calcium at 325. Tomorrow I will add calcium, but can it really be that one caulastrea is fine with this level of calcium and the other is not?
Emily3144
I completely agree 100%.
Of course, it's nice if we live near the sea or have money. But what if I live in some village and have only seen the sea on TV when there's electricity? It's clear that launching on all living things is a plus (and no one disputes that), but if there’s no opportunity, and I want the sea.
P.S. If we support alternative systems, we will only develop marine aquariums. As it is, we are at such a nascent level that it makes me want to cry. And the main reason is: MONEY.
Let it be...
Daniel8015
Off-topic I have no doubt about it. And there will be such a thing that all marine aquarium enthusiasts will cry out in unison: "To hell with osmosis, I'm tired of it!!! Give us tap water!!!"
Ryan7682
There is never too much money, and sailors especially always lack it. Well, you live by the Black Sea on a yacht, it's easy for you to go for a ride, but I have to drive 400 km one way to get there, and where to find something worthwhile is all 500 km, so that's 1000 km round trip. And I don't see any problems with that. If there is a goal and desire.
Patricia1746
I wasn't writing for myself. I was writing for marine aquariums. Fortunately, everything is fine with my osmosis, resin after osmosis, money, and other things.
Where did you see me advocating for tap water? Of course, it's evil. But I will still conduct the experiment, even if it's just for myself, even if I lose mushrooms, umbrellas, and money, but it will be my experience and not someone else's... MY EXPERIENCE, even if it's bitter, you can't buy it, and no one can convince me otherwise...
Tammy
When the "financial troubles" started with the sea - due to bad habits (cigarettes, beer on Saturdays, and sometimes vodka with the consequences) - I quit both tobacco and alcohol. With the money saved over six months, I calmly set up an osmosis system, lighting, and... In general, one must want the sea.
Joseph8592
I read it. One single question has arisen - when will the esteemed begin "gaining experience in maintaining a marine aquarium on tap water"?
Kevin8087
Although I have little experience, I am not going to fill a 500-liter aquarium with tap water. I mentioned above that it's a 20-liter aquarium.
I AM INTERESTED, is there really no one interested in this experiment? Well, let me ruin the aquarium, you can gloat, say it's a ridiculous idea, so what... There will be bricks to throw.
P.S. I'm really interested in the experience of keeping Plerogyra sinuosa; I can't find anyone who has actually kept it. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, so if you know, point me in the right direction. This animal is really interesting.
Jennifer5784
Off-topic. It's okay... it's already been said here... "poor little bird."
Jeremy
I see that no one is interested, everyone is sure that everything is doomed, even though NO ONE HAS TRIED... and the main thing is why it's doomed, not in general phrases but specifically... Everyone feels sorry for the little bird, but how did medicine develop, wasn't it on corpses???? Since no one is interested and everyone has already given up, I ask the moderators to delete my posts and we will end it here. See you all...
P.S. I will still post the report............ (even if this experience is bitter, I don't care, I am not ashamed of failures)
Jessica
Here is a person who experimented, then Polina switched to osmosis, but for some reason a year later "bam" and for unexplained reasons I think all the nastiness from the tap water is still in the system, the condition of this aquarium right now.
Colin1418
Polina's topics were read and I corresponded with her.
Vincent
On corpses, but mainly during wars and out of despair. But here it turns out that everything is there, everything is known, but.....
Emily3144
Oh, what a controversial question...
You see, Ray, I want to try EVERYTHING, both plumbing and an aquarium with dry reef rocks, chemistry, etc., and let them throw shoes at me, but that's just how stubborn I am...
Thomas1044
Offtopic. Or maybe it's better to make a couple of normal cans of about seven hundred liters, that's also interesting.
Rick
That's what we're doing... I wrote. Right now it's temporarily a minnow tank, but the aquarium itself is ready for 250 liters. However, I had the idea to seal the bottom (drain) and turn it into a sump. If I could find some enlightened glass in Mykolaiv, I would have done it, but unfortunately, we have what we have for now. In any case, one doesn't interfere with the other.
Anthony
I have a coral called Plerogyra. This coral, like any LPS (large-polyp stony corals), is even easier to care for than others, is interesting in its own way, and is not overly demanding. It prefers dim lighting, requires feeding despite having zooxanthellae, and enjoys eating. The photo was taken quickly.
Robert800
Lesha, could you shoot a short video? I think everyone would appreciate it.
Joe
What exactly? There are several reasons, and they all seem to be obvious.
- The tap water already contains salts, and it's hard to determine how much and which ones without analysis. Dissolving salt in this water leads to a disruption of the stated parameters. It's impossible to predict how this will affect the marine aquarium because...
- It's unknown in advance what comes out of the tap.
The experiment makes no sense. It is too dependent on geographical location and the time of year.
No offense.
Brian7092
Of course, no hard feelings. ...
An experiment always makes sense... and whatever it is...
P.S.: I can't find a 24W driver, if anyone can help with this, please message me privately.........
