Pieces of shrimp, fish, mussels, and squid.

Colin1418

How does the feeding process itself take place (how to offer it to him), and what amount of shrimp should be given and at what time intervals (for example, twice a week)?

Nancy758

Throw it under the needles where it sits. Well... definitely once a week. I just got one myself recently.

Michelle1505

Off-topic. Well, you definitely have nothing to worry about. According to you, Ksyusha has grown like a "weed," so you'll check if the hedgehog loves her or not.

Rebecca1419

Offtopic No, there’s no Ksyusha. They all died out. We didn’t have electricity for more than two days because of the hurricane (four high-voltage power line poles fell). The temperature in the aquarium rose to 35 degrees. Well, now it’s actually starting to sprout in the place where it used to grow. So I’ll grow another garden.

In general, now expect stones to be thrown from their places with the sea urchin, needles during work in the aquarium, it won't be a small matter, and calcium should be at the necessary level for them, no less than 420, even though they scrape off the so-called "Aristotle's lantern" incrustations, it's not enough. If calcium and substrate nutrition in the aquarium are poor, they lose their needles, turn white, and eventually die. Once or twice a month, you can put a piece of shrimp or squid under the sea urchin; with its ambulacral feet, it will pull the food into its mouth if it gets the chance, but usually, the fish manage to steal the meal, so measures need to be taken here...

Cindy

Aha. Thank you!!! I didn't know. It doesn't seem to hurt much. But who cares - the stones are heavy.

Sarah

So you haven't been injected properly yet. Usually, quite brittle but very sharp needles penetrate under the skin and stay there until they dissolve fairly quickly, but the pain is quite intense, and it's practically impossible to remove the needles; there's no point in even trying.

Cindy

When I mess around in the aquarium, I watch where he sits. He moves slowly, so he won't attack unexpectedly. Well, if I get stung, I get stung. But he's a beautiful creature!

Alexandra

There is also a "pencil sea urchin," before which even the "outgoing" diadem is insignificant, with bright red, pencil-like spines... I had one, it was huge, up to 30 cm in diameter.

Matthew7977

Cool!!! Well, having two hedgehogs in the aquarium might be a bit much.

Pamela

One sailor kept three diadems in a tank for four years. The truth is that there were no live corals in that tank. There were only butterflyfish and volitans; he even tried to adapt sea urchins from the Marble Sea, but it didn't work out, apparently the salinity didn't suit them. Then he completely gave up on the sea. Now he enjoys the shores of the Red and Black Seas (pension 7,000). Our people know who this is about...

Johnny

If you are in Odessa, pick up the Ksyukha, I throw it away once a month. It grows on a separate rock, but it crawls over the sand to the reef. It doesn't fit into the concept of the new aquarium. I will throw it away if no one takes it. How critical is this?

Jasmine

Is there a possibility to send your Ksyusha to Mykolaiv (by minibus)? I would be very grateful.

John3142

I think not only you, but also your hedgehog would be grateful. But please understand me correctly, in order for you to receive the coral for free, I need to spend my time (either work or family time), pack it, spend a bit on gas, and arrange with the driver. To be honest, I don't have much desire for this event. So "it's better if you come to us."

Lee425

Dear lovers of marine aquaristics, I have a question for you: are there any sea urchins that can harm the reef or that eat sponges and small invertebrates? Also, how do they coexist in pairs, for example, one pair of one species and another of a different species? Thank you for your answer.

Julie3950

There is some information on this matter. In general, the diadem sea urchins, like other species, do not pay much attention to sponges, tunicates, etc., while scraping off growths from rocks and may also feed on them.

Anne4851

I feed the hedgehogs with lettuce leaves, sometimes I press a small leaf with a stone overnight, and by morning, there's nothing on the stone. The hedgehogs crawl around the aquarium phlegmatically and slowly, but if they need something or are threatened, they move very quickly around the aquarium. If you get pricked by a hedgehog's quill, put your hand under hot water and the pain subsides; the main thing is that the quills don't remain in the skin, because pulling them out is problematic due to the many micro-spines that cling.

Angela

It is practically impossible....

Alec9378

Can I beg for a piece of Ksyusha? I'll come by and pick it up wherever needed.
