Cassandra1840

looks like Briareum Briareum sp.

Jacob7201

I don't think it will grow. I have one like that. Before this, it lived with my friend for quite a long time, who gave it to me, but it never gained color. Pachyclavularia violacea

Eric

This is not Briarium, it is one of the varieties of Clavularia, which one I cannot say for sure, I need to dig deeper. Although the closest to the truth is to call it Pachyclavularia violacea.

Mike

This is definitely not Briareum and not Clavularia, because it grows in a completely different way and looks different as well.

Lori4746

It is also similar to a cornularity.

Jennifer5784

I read that briarium and pachyclavularia are synonyms.

Brent5588

The photos seem to be of different posts, post #1 and post #5, and different corals. The first one is likely a Pachyclavularia, while the second one may resemble a cornularia.

Brandy1134

This is the same coral, just the second one is younger, and it's not a cornularia.

Ronald

Are there no more options?

Barbara

Is there another one, not similar?

Adam

Bingo!! This is it!! Thank you very much.

Most likely, this is an outdated name, or something that was once considered a separate species, but later turned out to be just a variety. In general, there is no Acrossota amboinensis in the official taxonomy. Results of: Search in every Kingdom for Con Name containing 'Acrossota' No Records Found. Results of: Search in every Kingdom for Scientific Name containing 'Acrossota' No Records Found. Results of: Search in every Kingdom for TSN containing 'Acrossota' No Records Found.

It is also worth adding that if you want to get an accurate understanding of the classification of Stolonia, you should contact the scientists who work on this group or familiarize yourself with their works. The internet is often not helpful in this matter, especially websites that try to gather information from everyone, about everything, and from everywhere.

Joyce

I couldn't find a better OFFICIAL source. Valera, can you help? There are indeed many links to Acrossota online; I knew that since yesterday.

Well, I haven't really tried to delve deeply into the intricacies of coral taxonomy myself. I will say that when it comes to taxonomy, I have more trust in websites related to oceanographic institutions and real scientific work. You can look them up. Yesterday, I came across an interesting website that, at first glance, should be much more reliable than Itis.

Patricia1746

Yes. Very much so. Thank you!!!

You're welcome. Not exactly about taxonomy, but here’s one of my favorite marine aquarium websites that I have a lot of affection for. It's a treasure trove of various information, you can read it endlessly. Maybe someone else will find it interesting too:

It would be nice to have it in Russian. After all, not everyone is fluent in English.
