It seems to me that in order to successfully maintain such species, the system needs to be specifically tailored for non-photosynthetic organisms. The coral should be immersed in a soup of plankton to feel good, which cannot be achieved by adding bloodworms, etc. It will last for a few months.

Lindsey3628

And where did you get it? I really want this coral! I just have "plankton soup," as Max put it. Gorgonia, Studeriotis, and Dendrophilia can confirm this. I love heterotrophs - they are so bright and beautiful!

Dana6523

Off-topic, please share your "soup" recipe.

Janet5447

Offtopic My personal recipe is very simple: no chemicals like Antifos, Antinitrate, Purigen, etc... no physical filtration like sponges, pads, synthetic fibers, etc... no UV sterilizers, ozonators, etc... the foam is not the most monstrous and everything grows beautifully on its own)))

Marie5735

Off-topic, and what about the cyan and other charms of "free life"? Nitrates? Is everything geared towards non-photosynthetic organisms? Are there photos on the site? I would like to take a look. I'm very interested in this.

Theresa5149

Offtopic No, not at all... it's not suited for anything. Acropora is growing peacefully, along with other SPS (small-polyped corals) alongside non-photosynthetic ones. The water is fine. Everything except phosphates is at zero, even nitrates... knock on wood. However, experienced folks from the forum say we should wait another year to make a final conclusion... We're waiting. There are photos, take a look.

Pamela

Illusion, "young aquarium" syndrome. This is not an aquarium for non-photosynthetic organisms, not even close... Yes, non-photo - very tough corals that can last several months to a year. They have strong internal resources, and then...

Adam

Off-topic, damn, not the subject. The moderator will scold again. It would be better in a separate thread. I'm personally interested in this. Experience with non-photo content. Battle with nitro, hand-to-hand with thread algae, and squabble with cyanobacteria. The power of the foam filter in relation to the volume of the tank, etc.

Nicole263

Subcutaneous fat layer for winter? Can you explain this concept in your own words - They have strong internal resources?

Lisa

Stas, can you provide a bit more detail about the alveopora? What are the conditions for successful care?

Rebecca

It's better to find out everything about the Chilean fish. Has anyone raised it in a regular aquarium? For example, like tubastria. (With this approach - daily feeding, without special "soup")

Lindsey3628

The two extreme photos are from today, at 18:34. It is starting to release polyps. I have been oscillating for a long time - both phytoplankton and zooplankton (dry food), as well as Artemia nauplii and rinses of live rocks, minced food, and much more.

Rachel

Yes, the beast is worth the effort. It's beautiful, though. I wouldn't say no to that.

James8887

Another observation: Coral can be in the shade as well as in indirect light - the main condition for the normal expansion of polyps is the current!, both directed and strong reflected.

Amanda5586

And now it opens up during the day. From 12:00 - reaction to feeding fish and other corals.
