Igor, Max is right about those little stars. I've caught them doing that in the photos more than once. Green clavularia and zoanthids often suffer from their visits. So, if I notice that, I take a long tweezers, remove them, and put them in the sun. I do the same when I need to do something in the aquarium. Then I return the dried ones to the aquarium. No need to lose the DP bacteria or calcium... And the population is under strict control. After all, they bring more benefits than harm.

Softness is periodically eaten away - it's a fact... Whether to kill or not is a decision for each person to make.

I had a small colony of zoanthids eaten (and not just me). Now I catch them whenever I get the chance.

Maybe I just have enough food?... Klava, Ksenya - the premnas is pinching, actinia, tube - no one touches, umbrellas, mushrooms - they suffer more from nematodes... I need to be more careful, most likely... I'll sit in ambush.

Off-topic. In the morning, I usually find them at the colony. That is, the day starts with an execution...

I have about ten of them crawling around the aquarium, they haven't been caught in any misdeeds, but lately they've been hanging out near the colony of parazoanthids... what could this mean?
Reginald5073
they are keeping an eye out, ...)) I also have a few Asterins hanging around the colony's borders. They are looking for a hole in the fence,...
Amy
So this is just a little bit for them. But when there will be 100 or more - see post 7.
Linda
First and foremost, it concerns you.

I will take the brainiac, give me a couple of them... but they need to be trained to eat the right umbrellas.

When the colony is large and "strong," asters will hardly help.

Sea stars Asterina spp. often enter aquariums with "live rocks." Apparently, these animals are harmless detritivores, as no visible consequences for invertebrates have been observed. The stars reproduce in the aquarium by division, and the rays almost always have unequal lengths.

It's a controversial statement; I also noticed them on zoanthids, then the colony disappeared. I'm not claiming that they did it (the presumption of innocence hasn't been canceled), but someone must have destroyed it...

I have a question: how to calculate the number of starfish for my aquarium?
Jill9137
For some time now, I have been putting every asterina I spot on the live rocks into a tube... These beauties sense the deterioration of the umbrella's immunity and immediately get to work.
But why calculate them???

Yesterday I was cleaning the aquarium and decided to thin them out a bit, so I collected 45 of them! (130 liters). I think that's a bit too much...
Anne
As of today, 70 pieces have already been collected.

To the ceiling. And to be honest, is that amount normal?
