Are they really alive? Maybe they are already dying? The transportation is definitely not close and surely without any aquatic tricks. It might be worth keeping them in quarantine.

Andrew7823

Oysters can survive for up to 10 days in a cold environment, and they are transported without water, placed between seaweed. They were sold both laid out on ice and in an aquarium with lobsters. Naturally, I took them from the aquarium. They are definitely alive now, periodically opening and closing their shells forcefully, reacting to attempts to bite shrimp and crayfish. What will happen next—time will tell. Best regards.

Anne

Where did you get it??? Regarding oysters and methods of transportation, living conditions, etc., I will write tomorrow - I will make a scan from the book - Invertebrates of Russia.

I bought it at METRO, price - 9 per piece. It's clear that in a reef aquarium they are not needed at all, but in a fish tank with intensive feeding they can be quite useful, even if they don't live very long. Best regards.

Cassandra7840

Hmm, maybe I should get myself a small marine aquarium for oysters... The price is tempting.

Natasha7622

Be sure to start. I will add an anemone, a crab, a shrimp, and seaweed to the oysters. Sincerely.

Thank you very much. I'm still considering the options. Will 20 liters of this company with oysters be enough? Clowns seem to be kept in such a volume.

Holly

Yura, I almost convinced you, but I will carry the experiment to the end. The reasoning is roughly as follows: feed them once a week to make them last longer, and let them work on filtration the rest of the time. It's certainly not humane, but they would be eaten anyway. By the way, some of the mussels brought in the summer are still alive. Best regards.

Amy9618

Well, mussels are a bright example - I mean that you can really keep oysters alive for a long time in an aquarium! - at least try to do it. By the way, about the Metro: How did you get the oysters? I took a look at the counter - they really didn't appeal to me - some were half-open... Did they bring them out from somewhere?

Brent7831

How are things with the oysters?

Angela6489

The oysters are alive, my wife drank three more. It turned out that buying them is not always easy, restaurants constantly order all that are available, I had to persuade the seller. It is not yet clear if there is any effect from them, I suspect that a much larger quantity is needed, and that is already costly. Best regards.

Please tell me what types of shrimp (besides the most common brown ones) inhabit the Black Sea? Thank you in advance.

John3142

Oops! It seems I'm not in this section.

Sandra7004

yeah, I fixed it

Larry

Here is a very good resource about the Black Sea: take a look, there is a lot of interesting information...
