And here there is. Well, if you take one for yourself, then only those that are well-fed and overgrown, even if they are more expensive, but the chances of success are higher; otherwise, it's 50/50. Also, the reef should be well-developed, spacious, with a large food base.

William

Sorry for the question, but does the corresponding riff under the tank work for you? If so, how is it arranged? What does it have for the normal existence of this fish? Or is it just passing through for you? And how is the tank behaving at the moment? Where is it sitting and what is it eating, if it is eating...

Ronald5720

Thank you for the question. To answer, my aquarium is 150 liters (of course, I think this is probably a small volume for it). I have 3 clownfish and 1 helmon. There are a few euphyllias, a few sponges, and I got a zankl for myself; I want to try keeping the zankl. Right now, it seems to be exploring the aquarium, swimming back and forth. I haven't tried feeding it yet, but I will try to give it artemia or shrimp closer to night and will describe its behavior.

Anthony

He should, like Helmon, show interest in J.K. (living stones). If there is anything for him there. He may not react to marine feed.

Rachel

eh eh eh.............................

Robert1845

Moreover, it's a trivial fight, not a full-fledged system. Rather, it's not about the volume. It's like trying to keep an astronotus in a bucket with a compressor. How to put it. In 600 liters, you can add a handful of cichlids. The question is what kind of 600 liters it is - a full aquarium or a 600-liter "bucket." +100 What to do? Have you prepared the oars for drying?

Diana3118

The thing is, I quoted his response about Aqua being a full aquarium. Yes, and the fact that five Zankls will do better than one in 600 liters, but there isn't much space for five. Well, if it's in a tank that's a couple of years old, then it's really great, and with a minimum of fast, aggressive neighbors, although there are also some not-so-great ones among Zankls. Those who can handle it, read on, it's interesting.

Monica

Come on, much larger fish live in groups in smaller volumes. The key phrase here is not volume, but the quality of the volume.

Vanessa6144

The topic is about keeping the Moorish idol (Zanclus cornutus), not about another much larger fish, and volume plays a significant role. There is a term "living space." But that's not the point; the discussion is about Zanclus, and we should rely on the experience and advice of those who have successfully kept them for at least a couple of years.

Melinda2740

Off-topic will come later, and oh, oh, oh... It was necessary to refrain... How could one possibly put an Idol in a 150-liter tank? Especially in an aquarium that is clearly not prepared for keeping this fish? The chances of it living long in such conditions are practically nonexistent. While there is still time, I would advise urgently finding a suitable aquarium for it. A 600-800 liter tank, with the necessary complex of stationary invertebrates for proper feeding. This means it should be a well-established reef, not just 2 months old, but several years old...

Mitchell3177

For the idol, 600 liters is not enough. My aquarium is 2 meters long, and there's hardly any space for it to swim. The fish is very active, reminiscent of a haplochromis, and has the same appetite. As for sponges and other vegetation, my Zankl is indifferent, but it loves to eat everything you give it (bloodworms, daphnia, lettuce, dry food). You're right about the cleaner shrimp; every night I see a shrimp climbing on the Zankl, while a Caribbean goby is on the Helman.

Katie5500

Why are you all only talking about the bad... It's easy to catch him in 150 liters; there's no room for him to turn around there. And by the way, a Helmon shouldn't live permanently in 150 liters. And 150 is the total volume - I think the visible part is about 120 liters. Off-topic: My settlement in 120 liters reminds me of my friend, who had difficulties and had to live in a one-room apartment with nine other people... He says that while he was bringing tea to his bed at night, three of them had third-degree burns... He kept tripping over things.

Ryan2281

There is experience, but there are no Zankls. You won't believe it, they seem to be dying for some reason. It's more about luck. Experience is when at least a dozen healthy Zankls pass through your hands each month. That's real experience. But when you have just one survivor, it looks more like luck. Meanwhile, a dozen or so Zankls are swimming around in the aquarium. I suspect that none of the owners would call themselves leading Zankl keepers. And all the other talks about experience...

Wendy

Yes, the fish is cool, but this mortality concerns me, and there must be some nuances, some secret somewhere that I would like to know. But for now, the only answer is that they don't live long. However, 150 liters in Odessa is definitely not suitable for Zankl, and the aquarium is poor and young. It was a hasty decision.

Daniel

Of course there is. And there are no secrets in this. Fish, by their nature/species, are too susceptible to stress due to food refusal, which leads to exhaustion. In the chain of events from catching the fish in the wild to the aquarium of a potential owner, there is not a single moment (and this is not just one day, or even a week) where the fish can catch its breath and receive any nourishment. The experience lies with those companies that import them from the wild by the hundreds and sell the remaining dozens after they have been fattened up. This is where the price comes from – one well-fed fish costs as much as a dozen "wild" ones.

Kristen1161

Day one I took a photo of the zankl. It seems to have settled in the aquarium. No visible deposits on the fins or any other visible defects are observed. It swims quite actively, constantly trying to peck at the rocks, approximately 10-11 cm in diameter. I tried to give it artemia; it seems to swim up to the floating food and then instead of swallowing it, it starts blowing on the food. Overall, the zankl seems to me to be emaciated. By lunchtime, I will try to feed it again. Thank you all for the feedback on this topic, although judging by the comments, my aquarium clearly does not suit it in terms of volume and maturity.

David2398

Maybe it's better to give it to someone who has at least 600-800 liters and a large amount of live rocks? There are quite a few such people in Odessa. At least there will be a chance that the tank will survive...

Adam4310

At 3:00 PM, I threw in some artemia............ I see it started to peck at it a little, and then it really went after it........... this probably doesn't mean much since it's quite bloated, but I'll try to fatten it up if I can............

Amy1672

No, it still says something. First of all, it means that not everything is so bad. Nevertheless, Zanklu needs another aquarium. What kind, that has already been discussed. Otherwise, he has practically no prospects for a long and happy life.

Rebecca

If it exists, I will take my almost ton system with an 840 l display. I will add from the input for the risks.

Omar3497

17-30 Zankl started to take Artemia well, I throw in a piece and he eats it completely by himself, even trying to chase away the Helmon from the food while at the same time gobbling up the Artemia. Closer to night, I think I’ll give him some shrimp or dry food.

Jeffrey496

Roma, congratulations on your purchase...

Melissa3200

And not only with discus fish. Well, like, they bring in the zanklows not from the wild, and everything has already died from cyanide before they get to them.

Brooke3987

a compelling request to write on the subject matter.

Jade

November 22, 2010 Zankl feels energetic. He constantly swims actively around the aquarium, devouring artemia with enthusiasm. I feed him three times a day, and Helmon has really fattened up; he is quite plump and eats just as much as Zankl. The "braid" on Zankl's dorsal fin seems to have gotten longer, or maybe it's just my impression, but it definitely is longer compared to the day I first got him; now the braid is about one and a half centimeters long.

Rachel9060

Great, can you show us a photo of the current stage of this Idol? Very interesting...

Patrick4439

Yes, Tolya, I took a lot of photos of Zankla and I'm posting them, sorry for the quality, he clearly doesn't enjoy the photo session.

Zachary

It’s actually clear that the belly is drawn in, but if it has started to eat well, it means it doesn’t plan to die. It would be good to periodically throw in some sponges from a well-populated reef. By the way, you should have plenty of it on the coast on Zostera or on rocks, piles, etc. Look for it. The theory about the Black Sea sponge for Zankl has already been discussed here on the Forum.

Tracy

Thank you, Tolik, but to be honest, I don't even know what these sponges look like, especially the ones from the Black Sea that are on the shore. I wanted to ask you how often I should feed this zankla in a day—so as not to overload the system with excess uneaten food that falls into the rocks, and on the other hand, to help it start gaining weight. What else can I try to give it besides artemia? Should I try giving it shrimp? Or something else for variety?

Charles894

Just expand the diet, keeping in mind the risk of overloading the system. If the zankl has started eating, that's already a good sign. The sponges are a sure hit if the zankl isn't eating. But here, it's not so critical. There should be sponges on the rocks.

Christina9947

Yarik has already said everything. You just need to put off all your tasks tomorrow and rush to the sea for the sponges. If I were in your place, I would do the same. But I don't live in Odessa. You can find the sponges in the elements. Walk through the grass, especially since the water in the sea is currently 15-18 degrees. They can be red, pink, or pale blue clumps on the seagrass. You can also find gelatinous growths on the rocks if you turn them over; that's it.

Tami

Hello, I hope this helps you (more precisely, your uncle).

Gregory

That is, the question about paddles is still relevant. P.S. Just a piece of advice for the future: before getting any pets, it would be good to study the "technical details" about them.

Janet5447

So when you offered me to buy it today, you saw that it was covered in waste? You have interesting sales methods... I told you a long time ago. Take a break for 2-3 weeks. If all your fish have died in the aquarium, don’t rush to buy new ones. But a few days after our conversation, you posted an ad for buying a clownfish. Well, you know better... P.S. I don’t want to assume that’s how the White-bellied one left too.

Ryan2281

Odessa, I talked to you 15 minutes ago))), you urgently need a yellow zebra..., and there are such events in this topic..., do you want to put it in your aquarium? The one that has an infection!!?? Of course, it's profitable for a seller to keep selling fish to the same person, but I care more about the animals... I believe a one-month pause is absolutely necessary for your aquarium!

Maria

It was a joke.

Jesse3979

I didn't understand the question.

Chad9037

I will answer for you. When I shop at Airife, they always ask about the condition and characteristics of the aquarium. There have been cases when they discouraged purchases. Right now, a new aquarium is maturing, so Denis is holding a couple of orders for it at his company, and he advised against rushing.

Rodney3101

I see that jokes are not being taken well.

John3142

I still don't understand the question!!!!! Message 42 What does this have to do with the topic? Do we ask every client about their system or not????? What do all six points you wrote have to do with this topic????? Do you need statistics on fish deaths? Or is this the start of your election campaign? And the first point - I will bring order to fish catching, all aquariums MUST BE DRAINED!!! I think the "residents" of this site won't follow you. If you want to discuss how we transport fish and how many die, create a topic with a question or complaint to us...

Leonard

I have no complaints about you, I just decided to tease.

Elizabeth882

I didn't expect that at all... Regardless, the very fact of such a question being raised is quite surprising and valuable. At this stage, most suppliers couldn't care less whether your creature will survive or not, whether your aquarium conditions are suitable or not, as long as they can sell it for a good price. So, IReef gets +1000. It seems that the trading system is finally starting to take on some civilized forms. To be specific, we are not used to such heights, and this is about image. You can't buy it for any amount of money.

Emily

Offtopic Then I will say - this is already the third time I talk to them about that angel, and for the third time the Airians dissuade me, even though the Loricul is more expensive than the Argi. That's why I don't mind typing good words on this matter.

Rodney7316

But the fate of the little fish, which is actually the subject, is interesting.

Brian6895

Off-topic It's not my business, but there is an opinion that it's all over for her... Or not, please clarify the situation.

Christina9947

The fish covered in crypto is swimming in a quarantine aquarium and has stopped eating..........

Judy

It's clear. All that's left is to regret.

Deborah2682

That's it, brothers... Zankl ordered us to live long and has departed to another world.

Sydney

Don't worry, there will be more Zankls in your life.

Courtney

hmm..................

Caroline1599

I sympathize. But you knew that the fish was not ordinary—the statistics speak for themselves, and unfortunately, you were not an exception. Alas, such things happen.

Brooke3987

The road will be mastered by the one who walks it. There is not a single sailor on the forum who hasn't had to lose something at some point. So don't despair...

Mark

Thank you for your kindness and warm words, very "pleasant" Odessa, 99% we are sending you the yellow zebra tomorrow... I hope you told the truth that all the other fish are not sick...

Denise

I certainly earn enough to buy a fish for 600, but I’m not going to do it just to put it in an infected aquarium and then wonder if it will survive or not. So feel free to send it with a clear heart!

Sarah7284

Aquarium of 500 liters and keeping this fish is simple. They are just aggressive.

Erica752

And also the suppliers are probably different) they don't poison the fish.

Brent8919

I don't think so, the main thing is the proper quarantine.
