I have a similar pair (a foxface and a scopus) since the end of May. I haven't observed any conflicts between them. PS Why feed herbivorous fish (the foxface and the zebrasoma) with brine shrimp??? PPS The scopus is not as aggressive as the yellow one. But if you put the yellow one in, the scopus will chase it around! How this ends depends on the size of the aquarium. To reduce aggression, you can place a mirror near the aquarium for a while.

The fact that the fox often swims after some fish - I had a similar experience - only it swam after an olive surgeon. I think this is her usual behavior. Like, maybe something edible will come her way. Regarding the bad character of the scopus - there may be issues when introducing a yellow zebra. As for discus granules - it is not recommended to feed marine fish with freshwater dry food.

Zebrasoma scopas + Siganus lo = normal behavior. Scopas + newly arrived flavescens may have conflicts with lethal outcomes for the newcomer. Flavescens is also a great fish but has its quirks. It can, in turn, bully the newly arrived surgeon. In general, tangs can exhibit both intraspecific and interspecific aggression, which may diminish over time or continue indefinitely. For example, Z. flavescens did not let R. helmuth live in peace for about a week, then calmed down a bit. Usually, aggression in tangs is much less when they are introduced into a group all at once.

I knew I would get caught with the scapas, I fell for the price, good thing I didn't grab the little wing... now I'll have to get a bigger surgeon.

Any territorial fish will behave this way. Therefore, it is recommended to keep them alone or to house them together if the volume allows. Even if you put two male mandarins in the same aquarium, they will fight to the death! Although they appear to be quite peaceful fish.

Sarah

Sorry for the off-topic question, how many surgeonfish can I keep in 450 liters? Currently: 3 clownfish, a lo, a scopas, a dog, and a decorator hedgehog... I was planning to add about 4 different surgeonfish, and some small ones like 3-4 mandarins.

Richard

You can still introduce 3 Hipatus. They have already written to you about the mandarins. You can have either one mandarin or strictly a male and a female; you won't be able to determine their sex, and relying on the supplier is unwise. It may happen that you introduce individuals of the same sex, and then you will definitely have to get rid of one.

They will settle down sooner or later anyway. Regarding symbiosis, it all depends on the species of clownfish and anemones. For example, Stichodactyla gigantea is suitable for all ocellaris, while Stichodactyla haddoni or Cryptodendrum adhaesivum are very rarely settled, and Stichodactyla helianthus simply feeds on clownfish; this has been observed more than once, although it is quite difficult for a person to distinguish these anemones. As for the anemones with which ocellaris have a true natural symbiosis, Stichodactyla gigantea and Heteractis magnifica, they are very complex and capricious to keep and are intended for more experienced aquarists. So just wait.

It's easy to determine whether it's a female or a male (it takes 10 seconds), but the main thing is that they need to get along))) A few pairs have already been brought in... By the way, there is currently a pair available)), they've been living in the same aquarium for three weeks.

Adrienne

By the way, Ocellaris clowns also do well in Entacmaea quadricolor.

It's better to throw the salad on a clothespin to the surgeon and the fox. Feeding the sea fish with a pipe is dangerous. Maybe.

I also have a zebrasoma scopas and a fox. There were problems— I bought the first fox small, and it died within a day. I bought the second fox, the largest in the shipment. It gets along with the scopas, has eaten all the plants: green and red caulerpa (batrioclad), green and red burdock, sailor's eye, red moss, and is finishing off the chetamorpha from the samp. After that, it started eating filamentous algae. It doesn't eat any salads, feeds on a frozen mix—squid, gammarus, mussels, artemia, plankton, and a bit of carrot. It loves bloodworms, preferably frozen, eats like a horse and looks like one too. It has grown 2 cm and is outgrowing the 240-liter aquarium. The aquarium is left without plants.

Danny

My fox is already fully engaged in battle with the yellow zebra (trying to jump on it with spikes), but so far there are no casualties. The yellow one tried to infect her with a crypt, but no way, the fox is made of iron.

Mark

Sailors! Please suggest plants that a fox does not eat. I heard there are such species of caulerpa. I only have one very tough red plant left. It grew on its own on the J.K. (live rocks) from a. I saw something like that with them too.

Sarah

I had three types of caulerpa, gracilaria, and chaetomorpha wiped out in three weeks. So I don't even know...

Anthony4281

Could you please clarify their name or provide a link to a photo?

David

Here are the first two types Here is the third

I was given a bag of berry fish as a gift: they live almost without feeding, and they didn't even eat everything in 7 days of fasting, but keep in mind one nuance: the sexual reproduction of berry fish can harm a small volume, and dead branches rot in the corners... I can provide the contact of a person who discards berry fish in aquariums; they might share...

Kevin262

The danger of sexual reproduction in a properly functioning foam filter is greatly exaggerated. This situation has occurred several times (though in volumes of no less than 350 liters), but it has caused no problems other than aesthetic disruption. Typically, this happens in the morning - by lunchtime, the aquarium is already clean.

Yvette209

Even in the small ones, nothing critical was happening. It has been "sniffling" long enough not to notice and not to catch it from the aquarium. And the one in the corners - how many corners are there...

Thank you very much. The contact of an experienced sailor is always very helpful for a beginner. If possible, please write to me in private messages.
