The lionfish belongs to the scorpionfish family (Scorpaenidae). This family includes several dozen genera and over a hundred species of fish. For aquarists, the most interesting are the stunningly beautiful fish from the genera Pterois and Dendrochirus. I think you have a zebra lionfish, Pterois volitans.

Thank you for the response. Basically, I bought it under that name. Doubts arose because of its behavior. I heard that the only type of lionfish that is more or less not hiding and swims all the time is Volitans, but mine constantly hangs upside down near a rock or glass and only comes out to eat. So I'm wondering if it might be a completely different species?

Thank you very much!

If it's something serious, feel free to message me privately; I will always help as much as I can. Best regards.

In the background, in the aquarium with the winged fish, there are issues with the rocks; I recommend working on that.
Alejandro
These are very rare anemones that are difficult to breed; I am trying to breed them, but it is not working.
Jennifer
The work has been done. There are practically no iptazis left, but it seems unrealistic to completely eliminate them.

What is the question?
Michelle1505
A lot of stones, no access? Can't remove them all at once if they have multiplied. Methodical and systematic work. You can combine a screwdriver, calcium hydroxide, or boiling water. Previously, we fought with boiling water from a syringe. It all depends on the neighbors and the conditions. The main thing is not to give up. If access is difficult, put a small hose (4/6 mm) or an attachment on the syringe. Good luck.
Michele
Planned and systematic work.
Perhaps for this reason. By the way, the aquarium is purely fish-based, and aiptasia are the only invertebrates. How harmful are they specifically to fish?
Allison
Not harmful at all...
Karen1649
For fish, Aiptasia is not harmful, but only for the fish. However, under favorable conditions, they reproduce very quickly. The tentacles of these small anemones contain powerful toxic nematocysts, and if they come into contact with sessile invertebrates, it can end badly. When they are abundant, they suppress corals, causing stress and tissue necrosis in some corals. The conclusion is that they are unwanted neighbors. Best regards.

Aiptasia catch leftover food, so they are even beneficial in fish tanks.

Helmon controls the process very well. Proven. My client cleaned a ton in less than a month. Although there was an enormous amount of this crap.
Jesse
Yes, sometimes you need to "control" Helmon. I would love to see this process! Sometimes they are temporarily placed, but each animal has its own character and dietary priorities. You need to look at the reef to see what "population" is already sitting on the rocks and what is planned for the future.

I definitely had 3 beautiful fan worms once.
Tracy
I have Helman Rostratatus living in a soft reef for a year and a half, with zero aiptasia, but there are no feather worms either. Sometimes I specifically take aiptasia from friends and throw it into the reef; the guy catches it on the fly. Yes, it has grown from 3 cm to 10 cm and additionally eats all frozen food from my hands.
Veronica
GETTING RID OF AIPTASIS TURNED OUT TO BE VERY SIMPLE, I FOUGHT WITH THEM FOR 1.5 YEARS, NOT BY INJECTING THEM BUT BY EATING THEM, HELMON, WITH PLEASURE, JUST SAID THANK YOU.
