I have had a Yellow Butterflyfish - Forcipiger Flavissimus - living with me for about a month.
Everywhere it says reef-safe. And mine has not been noticed doing anything harmful.
Curious. A very interesting fish. Recently, a Chelmon rostratus arrived for him.
I hope to eliminate aiptasia with his help. It is also said everywhere that it is not a harmful fish for the reef. Although much depends on the temperament of specific individuals.
By the way, they are not very agile when it comes to catching food - they take a long time to aim. So if there are any nimble surgeons (like mine) - I made a simple feeder for my fish.
Here is the description:

Butterflies are not indifferent to fan worms, and I have not been spared from LPS (trachyphilia) either.

Chaetodon rafflesi should not be placed in a reef, as all such butterflies will bite corals, maybe not immediately, but they will definitely do so. Only Chelmon rostratus and Forcipiger flavissimus are suitable for the reef, and even then with some reservations, as they will eat feather worms and may also bite tridacna and some LPS corals.

Guys, I ran into a little problem: I need to find something inexpensive and beautiful to plant in the reef, so I realized I should look for surgeons. HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE who gave me advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
