I liked the idea of arranging an additional chamber, so I decided to implement it. The essence lies in reducing the level of CO2 and undissolved particulate matter. In previous models, the outlet from the reactor was from the active zone (with high water movement and high CO2 saturation). The sponge only partially solves the problem. In this model, the water outlet goes through an additional chamber with a slow water flow (up to 5 l/h), allowing the particulate matter to settle and the remaining CO2 to be neutralized since there is no longer any saturation. Additionally, CO2 is reduced through dissolution (the filler is also added to this chamber).

Another model Dimensions 160x230x650 Two-chamber design with integrated bubble and water inlet counter The reactor can operate in self-priming mode, i.e., it is enough to lower the inlet tube into the water The volume of the loaded crumb is up to 3 gallons or 6 kg

The reactor was tested... Filler coral crumb + shell the second chamber is filled with dolomite Fauna Marin pH at the inlet - 7.92, in the main chamber - 6.56, at the outlet from the reactor - 7.3 KH 34 the second chamber significantly reduces the amount of suspended matter exiting, as the water movement in it is almost droplet-like, allowing it to settle and subsequently dissolve.

I think the Caribbean seafood filler is worth trying.

Erica

Yes, Caribbean is the thing! Especially the mix of large and small (in layers).

Tina

Offtopic Just now, that's exactly how we poured it in the reactor! I just forgot to ask, how should we add more later? Fine first and then coarse?

People, please explain to me what this device is for and what function it performs!

Katie5500

Please read here. I think something will become clear.

Thank you!!!

Well, it has already been tested. The product is certainly of high quality. The reactor starts up faster and produces more, and it doesn't release phosphates, so there's no need to soak it like regular coral gravel. There are almost only advantages, the price is just a bit steep. Plans include testing Deep Coral Sand.

Cassandra7840

I don't think anything good will come of it. The filler won't boil properly. It will quickly clump together, and the flow of water will go through one channel while the main mass of sand won't work.

Vincent

I had fine sand lying normally for a month. If it wasn't boiling, it was in a suspended state.

Cassandra1840

He has three fractions. The smallest one is the size of a match head... it will boil easily. He took another filler for testing; it looks solid.

I have been using Tropic Eden substrate for several months now. It is mixed in the reactor with Caribbean Sea. Tropic Eden looks more pink, so to speak. I can't say anything negative about this substrate - it's excellent.

Expanded the range in a larger direction. Height 85 cm, diameter 15 mm, Eheim 1260 pump.

Great line of reactors. The main thing is not to modify it. I have never had a reactor failure, the settings have never gone off, and the tubes have never clogged. I think it all comes down to the second thin acrylic tube (CO2 diffuser).

Wendy2244

In this pipe, all the suspension settles before reaching the thin tubes and the adjustment valve, preventing them from clogging.

Here is what is being collected and how to remove it. The reactor was started about two years ago, and a significant amount of fine suspension has accumulated. When adding crumbs, the second chamber is flushed. All the accumulated suspension goes into the main chamber, and then it continues in a cycle. To flush, it is enough to turn on the reactor with the lid removed.

A reactor for biopellets was made based on the KR. The principle mainly comes from here. Video of the operation.

Megan

Thank you for the promptness in replacing the rotor in the KR pump.
