I will try to clarify what a skimmer is and how it works. Currently, there are three types of skimmers based on the foam generation method: 1. Turbo skimmers (also known as Venturi...) 2. Injector skimmers (also known as Downdraft...) 3. Floaters (operating from a compressor). In the first type, air is supplied to the pump inlet, hits the impeller, is broken into small bubbles, and enters the skimmer. In the second type, air is drawn in by an injector located at the pump outlet. In the third case, it's simple - a compressor and a diffuser. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on personal preference. I prefer injector skimmers, although they are not practical for small aquarium volumes (less than 200 liters). Each type has many design variations. I will show models that, in my opinion, have the most successful design solutions. Photos of the turbo skimmer... Work photos will be available next week.

In this photo, I see a rather controversial method of attaching the PVC pipe to the acrylic through a cantilever connection using a PVC rod. Is it reliable? Maybe it would be better to use rubber instead. The idea came from the lid of AM Shoti, and I think you got it from there too. Previously, there was no way to implement it with low costs. I really don't understand why it's needed in a cup that is tightly sealed and has no ventilation holes; this baffle is needed to redirect the foam away from those holes, otherwise the foam blocks them and starts to lift the lid. The speed does increase, but not significantly. In return, the flow of water loses its chaotic nature and rises more evenly. Around the upper, narrow end of the cone, the water moves in a ring-like manner. It resembles the movement of smoke rings, something similar to that. There is no point in turning the cone upside down with the wide end facing up; I tried it and didn't like it, as it creates too many vortices.

For the injector, 5000 liters is sufficient at 3m. The pump should provide a bit more; you need to account for losses in the pipe and the lift of water from the pump level to the injector level (0.5-0.6m). If the pump is connected from the drain, a pump with lower power can be used (minus the pressure from the drain).

In freshwater, there is usually no point in installing a skimmer.

The scalar apparently meant oxygen enrichment, not the removal of organic matter. It is possible, but for a freshwater aquarium, it is expensive and the fish will likely die from oxygen saturation (gas embolism), and the plants will not grow. Unless you take a very, very small model and run it at night, the skimmer operates much quieter than the compressor.

We made this little gadget. Pump - Sicce 2500 The pump is made well - ceramic shaft and bushing, thrust bushing, it looks like it will be very hard to break.
