Vitaly, these hanging drips are kind of nerve-wracking. As a rule, according to the law of meanness, they tend to get airlocked when there’s no one home except for the neighbors below.

At the point of aeration, a small pump or pump is installed at the highest point, which, when the light is turned back on, pumps out the accumulated air. Lena has such an American device, and it came with the pump.

I have a "TUNZE" that hasn't gotten airlocked even once in 3 years, and I am very satisfied with it.

It's good, BUT the law of meanness has not been canceled yet. I've already been burned by the aquamedic transfusion.

I have a simple silicone hose connected to the highest point of the overflow, with the other end submerged in water. Once a month, the air that accumulates at the top (which is shaped like a truncated cone) is removed. There has never been an airlock that caused the aquarium to overflow. However, it is true that vigilance is necessary in our work in every aspect, vigilance once again... Therefore, I try to monitor this overflow as often as possible, and even with a slight airlock, I take measures.

And grandma's comb fits in quite well :-)))

Continuation. The throughput is small, suitable for a 1000L pump.

Damn, there's nowhere but Vitaliy's topic about homemade overflows... Evaluate - is the overflow well made?

This is not exactly DIY since it is made of glass; I don't remember the name of the company, but it seems to be from Japan, and they have a lot of other glass items in this style. I don't remember if ADA has any, but they work in a similar style.

Linda

The throughput is much better than the second one, allowing 4000 liters per hour.

I continue.... The dimensions are 108x122x150, both compartments are 58mm, for 8mm glass, I installed a Durso from 1" fittings. I won't comment on the flow rate, I only tested for tightness; I will test the flow rate later.

Jerry

Works with 2000 l/h.

Good day! I am very interested in your topic. I want to make a siphon for myself, but I don't want to drill a hole. I have a 500-liter aquarium; could you share your experience?

Michael5242

What about the topic? Where did everyone go? Vitaly, how are the improvements with the overflows progressing? What has been done about the air entrainment? Respectfully, Vitaly!
