There are very small branded JBL bags, through which nothing will spill out.

Amy1672

It is recommended to use a 300-micron bag.

Courtney4094

It seems so. We measured under a microscope, the smallest particles are 300 microns. I bought nylon mesh fabric, I will be sewing...

Sarah5423

What is your impression of Purigen? Off-topic Happy Archaeologist Day

Gene1948

In the aquarium with the trophus, it helped. The nitrates really dropped. In the aquarium with the frontosas - it's a mess. The fish is just too big.

Nancy

Water, they say, is super clear... it removes a lot of things besides phosphates. It would be interesting to try it in conjunction with ion exchange resins.

Anne

Is that what they just poured into a liter aquarium and sold to you? By the way, where did you buy it?

Laura9093

Purchased in the city of Krakow. Factory packaging 1 liter. I don't understand what surprised you?

Heather9815

Wasn't there a brand of SiKem bags for this Purigen in this city? They say they exist, but they're expensive...

Emily3144

A women's stocking doesn't rule!

Jeffery

neralitpalubomu. He will fall into the cells. I sewed bags from mill gas. I wrote above. It was two years ago.

Breanna9982

In the shrimp, there were bags. My wife made a curtain from the shorter fabric that they hang on the windows, I don't know, she fused it with an iron and that's it!

John3142

Experienced users of Purigen, please advise on the placement of this product. Is it enough to simply place the bag with Purigen in the sump, or is some complicated device required?

Mary

Usually, they are placed in filters, but they can also be kept in the sump; the flow rate should not exceed 200 liters per hour for proper operation.

David953

Thank you for your response. Let me clarify. My water turnover from the sump to the marine aquarium is 600 L/hour. It probably makes sense to just place a bag, for example, near the return pump (where the water is after all the filters). The bag with Purigen will gradually be washed and adsorb. Am I right?

Joshua9847

The water flow moves along the path of least resistance, and the bag being washed by this flow can simply lie there as almost useless ballast. It is necessary to insert this very bag into a pump container with a capacity of 400 liters per hour. Due to the density of the purigen itself and the density of the gas tissue, the water flow rate will be approximately 200 liters per hour, as has already been mentioned here. The main thing is that the powder in the container is not too compacted, so that water can pass through it more or less easily. Am I right?

Tina

I won't assert it, but I think I read that 200 l/h is for Matrix or some other product from Seachem, but not for Purigen. I should check the product descriptions.

Aaron

It could be very effective, however, it is important to focus primarily on a low water flow rate; otherwise, its action will not be sufficiently effective, in my opinion. This is similar to the case with AU.

Patricia1746

By the way, I don't quite understand what will happen if you put in an "overdose"? Will it extract more organic matter or what? What are the consequences?

Laura3673

It's better to follow the instructions than to act on the principle of "more is better."

David4968

It doesn't have any consequences; it will just take longer to work. I've been using it for over a year and I'm very satisfied with the results.

Craig7302

What is the amount, if it's not a secret, that your purigen works on per unit volume, and what do you do with the purigen that has been used for a certain period, i.e., has turned brown, how do you rejuvenate it?

Jeremy

I have been reviving with bleach for the second year. It effectively destroys organic matter. I exceed the norm by two to three times, so I have to bleach less often. After bleaching, I rinse with osmosis water and fill it with water, adding a dechlorinator.

Jonathan6173

This dechlorinator... can you tell me more about it, where was it purchased?

Courtney

Taking this into account, I want to understand where to place the miraculous pouch. Maybe someone among the users can share their experience. Otherwise, it seems to be a roundabout way of discussing it.

Karen2578

Vadim_Art placed a bag instead of a sponge in the internal filter container and used it this way.

Sarah7284

I have it, or rather it lies in the external drive in the middle; before that, it was in the internal drive in the basket. The water is just like a tear.

Julie4738

I don't think it's the best way. The fabric will quickly get clogged with dirt.

Sara4035

Vadim's fishery has no fish (only shrimp) and there is almost no mud there.

Eric

I used the FX-5 in the last basket in the cichlid tank. I took the embroidery hoops, cut them, and adjusted them to fit the size of the container. I inserted the inner ring into a women's pantyhose, 60 denier, tied a knot on one side, and carefully filled it with Purgen. Then I tied it on the other side. It turned out like this. Then I compressed everything with the outer ring of the hoops and placed it in the container. I apologize to marine aquarium enthusiasts if this is off-topic.

Cassandra1840

Thank you for your participation. In general, it's clear. It is necessary to place it at the end of the filtering chain in such a way that part of the water flow is blocked.

Erin2730

In theory, purigen is a powerful sorbent. Accordingly, it absorbs both "bad stuff" and necessary substances (possibly in proportion). Most likely, if there is no "bad stuff" left, it will start absorbing everything else. In the worst case, when this product was just starting to be sold, the importer strongly advised against exceeding the recommended dosage, warning of critical consequences even for freshwater aquariums.

William5838

Where can this recommendation be read?

Ryan7682

There is a clear dosage... for example, 100 ml goes for 400 liters... and this is only relevant in the sea... in freshwater, especially in cichlid tanks, they use a triple dose and nothing happens.)))

Troy8808

I have a small 100 ml pouch lying around in the sump... it works wherever you put it... the water flow doesn't play a significant role... some attach it directly to a string and throw it right into the aquarium... (they have a shortage of sumps).

Christopher1252

Well, what can I say, good job!

Zachary

Maybe I am right after all...

Mark

The most suitable place is the one that resonates with you. And it will absorb...

Lindsay

I don't argue with that. Aquaristics is not a hurried affair. I tried here, there... The main thing is to look at the aquarium often. She loves that.

Amy

+1. Of all the places the bag has been, the cleanest mesh is near the lift pump. (from experiments in BOYU 550)

Dana6523

I also love, or rather enjoy watching. Especially when the water after purigen is like air.

Kellie

Another question has arisen. I have three aquariums. Let's say I load Purigen bags into each aquarium. Over time, I will need to regenerate the Purigen. It makes sense to collect the Purigen from all three tanks and perform the regeneration. However, the Purigen will not be exhausted in all three aquariums at the same time. The question is: how should I store the used Purigen until regeneration and afterwards? In water or in dry form? Thank you for the suggestion.

John1464

absolutely spot on. I once foolishly didn't control the dose - in the morning all the brittle stars, worms, and gammarus were on the bottom. During the day - mass funerals. The fish, by the way, didn't care at all. So don't overdo it.

Angela7060

And what about the bees?

Debra

Question: What kind of whiteness do you use to bleach Purigen??? Or what else can be used?

Melinda2740

Simple whiteness, without fragrances. Composition - sodium hypochlorite.

Nancy758

Actually, underwear usually refers to a chlorine solution (approximately 30g/l)...

Melinda

I recommend taking the laundry and checking its composition. It will say: "sodium hypochlorite." And chlorine is a gas.

Lynn4242

Exactly, I confused it with the mass concentration of chlorine on the packaging.
