Vitaly, do you not wish to show the rotor to the people?

Daniel8015

Vitalik, I have the same Chinese pump. I will also modify it for the lagoon; the pump is already there. How did you do everything for the pump? What did you make the rotor and the pump housing, where the impeller is, from? (I don't have any leftover pipe; I don't want to buy a small piece, a big chunk is needed, just 5-6 cm).

I have already written about this before, so how at the end of the topic.

Elizabeth

Vitalik, try using stainless steel bolts. I got some for myself at Epicenter, from the brand "Gospodar." They don't rust in seawater, I checked.

What’s the point of using stainless steel? Quite normal nylon bolts, in any quantity.

Christine

At first, the bolts were a shock for me too. But Vitaly wasn't lying - you can tighten them with a screwdriver - they don't break.

I will bring up a forgotten topic. Did you have to cut the bottom to fit the inner cylinder? And how is the cylinder secured? I just replaced the original pump with an Aquamedic one, which also works decently.

Alec9378

Two methods: 1. The bottom is cut out for the inner cylinder and then glued to the cylinder and the bottom of the foam (non-disassemblable option); 2. The bottom is cut out, a larger diameter bottom is glued to the cylinder, and it is secured to the foam with nylon bolts (disassemblable option).

Great design! Please tell me the total height of this skimmer? And what volume of aquarium is it approximately designed for? Thank you.

Ross

Height 450mm, works on 450L and 600L, I think up to 1000L is quite normal.
