I have a 450-liter cichlid tank with a tall, beautiful screen, which has been maintained by a powerful external filter for two years without any issues, only positive experiences. Water intake and discharge are done from the top, for which there is a cutout in the upper part of the glass with a thickness of 30 mm. Now, I have a question: I'm hesitant to drill the aquarium for connecting the sump, especially since the bottom needs to be set up for the overflow and return. I'm not sure if this can be done properly at home. There are low-voltage 24V submersible pumps on the market with a capacity of 3000 l/h, and they even have adjustable speed, which could help regulate the flow through the sump. In my non-professional opinion, such a pump should be effective and quiet, as it will be inside the aquarium and also collect debris from the bottom. Is it worth installing a submersible pump for supplying water to the sump? Thank you for your opinion.
