Equipment "once and for all"? )) - Do we ever have that? Regarding the samp-u, I recommend getting a kit (a set of tubes and floats). I use one like that myself.

John3335

Well, maybe it doesn't exist. Equipment isn't eternal. I meant to ask for a really suitable foam gun. I'm a novice at this, so I don't even know what to base my choice on. As for the constructor, I've seen it. I might take it, but first, I need to make the sample myself.

Johnny

so there will be no advice for a beginner

Monica

You see, there are no ready-made solutions here. You can choose a 100% ready project (for example, from reefcentral.ru), or build it yourself. A sump is usually made for specific equipment (with allowances for future expansion/upgrades). This means you need to clearly determine which protein skimmer, which pump, and what filtration you will use, acquire everything, and then create the sump based on that. Choosing a protein skimmer is like a religion)) I advise you not to rush, but to study a lot of information from different sources and choose what you think will be optimal for you.

How can I choose and buy something if I'm a complete zero at it? I created this topic for people to give advice. Specific models, for example. Should the SAM be made up of several compartments?

Jasmine

SAMP is a very simple thing. There should be at least 2 compartments - for fillers and for the pump. But this depends on your imagination. You make the water pass through the fillers using compartments, so you can come up with their number yourself. Usually, they are limited to 3-4 compartments. Fillers are either placed in "nets" = bags, or simply poured in (which makes it harder to maintain, rinse, and replace them).

Is there a sequence to the output? Some I've seen do it with algae, others do not. Why is that?

Jerry

Because this labyrinth is designed for comprehensive water purification and to allow all technical equipment to be placed outside the aquarium.

Earl

In most cases, a sump consists of three compartments. 1) This is where the aquarium drain, sock, skimmer, heater, etc. are located. The water level depends on the skimmer; it is preferable for the height of the sump to be 5-10 cm higher than the water level in the first compartment (air bubbles burst, salt remains on the walls, the stand is clean). 2) This compartment contains caulerpa, chaetomorpha, possibly a frag tank for corals, and a quarantine for aggressive fish. 3) This is the compartment for the return pump and the auto top-off float. The water level in this compartment is variable. It is also necessary to ensure that when the power is turned off, the water from the display above the overflow level can fit completely in the sump without spilling onto the floor.

WELL, GOOD PEOPLE HAVE FINALLY BEEN FOUND.

So don't be a fool. Read, read, and read again! Start at least with these little cheat sheets: When it comes to pennies, choose the most expensive ones you can afford.

Tasha

Golden words. Pennik - Deltek. Pumps - Tunz, etc. You won't be disappointed with this equipment.

Daniel

Who can say anything about the TUNZE DOC SKIMMER 9004? I have a feeling that it's a bit small for 250 liters.

Curtis9143

This is a foam filter for aquariums with a volume of up to 100 liters. You should look at more advanced models. However, there are many polar opinions regarding tuna foam filters.

Anne

I read here that it's up to 250 liters. I have 188 liters and thought it would work. But if I'm going to install two, it's better to really get one good one.

Antonio

There is a golden rule when choosing a skimmer - divide the volume stated by the manufacturer by five or look at the minimum value. If Tunze states a volume of 60-250 liters for the 9004 model, you should focus on the first value. I was looking at this skimmer for 100 liters, also considered the Deltec 500, but chose the Bluskimmer 550. I can't say anything about it yet because it's still in the box.

Denise

Yes, I could tell at first glance that he is a bit small for the giant task.
