• Hanging overflow/pre-filter?

Comrades who love marine aquaristics, I want to ask if anyone has used a system similar to the one in the link. There is a video on how to install and start the system. It's not quite clear how it works with the compressor: is it needed only at the start of the system to get the water flowing, or should it run constantly? I want to understand.

The compressor prevents air from entering the system; it is needed at startup and if air accidentally gets into the system. It can run continuously as a backup. There are plenty of options for overflows. I have my eye on the Tunze 1074/2...

It uses a pump that will transfer air or water from the drain to the aquarium, correctly called an aqua-lifter pump. It looks like a compressor, but in addition to the outlet, there is also an inlet for a narrow tube.

Anyone with the appropriate return pump can, by the way, deliver a second tube there, and its output will increase to 1500 l/h...
