Do you remember the latest water parameters in the aquarium? You can adjust based on them, but there are calibration solutions for this... If the scale starts from zero, then use distilled water, but this is less accurate than using calibration solutions.

Bonnie

You can calibrate the refractometer using the following solution: dissolve 36.5 grams of table (fine) salt in water and bring the solution to 1 liter. This will yield a salinity of 35%.

Are you not confusing anything?... I'm not into marine aquariums, but from a chemical point of view, you need to take 3.65 g of salt and 96.35 ml of water (at room temperature) to get a 3.65% solution or 36.5 ‰ (per mille). Where do your 1.5% go?

Susan

The thing is that sea salt contains not only sodium chloride but also other salts. The specified amount of table salt simply replaces sea salt.

Now I understand, thank you!

Preparing a calibration solution from table salt is not entirely correct. It is better to buy a calibration solution or ask at a pharmacy that makes custom medications. At home, set the distillate to "0" and go ahead. The error will be minimal.
