What made you think this is the sea? In the photo: 3 internal pumps, a siphon for the substrate (probably) or a hose for the external filter, and a cooler for cooling. I don't think the aquarium should leak! A "mat" is needed!

Ryan7682

1) There may not necessarily be a leak, but it needs to be checked; a substrate is definitely required, like for 8mm laminate, two layers will be fine. 2) Wash the aquarium with a sponge and rinse the equipment; your filters are internal, not external.

Christopher7213

In the 4th photo, it definitely shows a siphon for the substrate. Remove one end of the hose from the tap and attach it to the flask. The flask has the tap on one side and the hose on the other. Lower the flask into the aquarium, place a bucket underneath, suck water into the hose, and lower it into the bucket. While using the flask in the aquarium, you collect dirt; when the bucket is full, close the tap on the hose, go pour out the water, return, place the bucket, open the tap, and continue siphoning the substrate.

John3187

In the 5th photo, there is a cooler. The cooling system for the aquarium in hot weather is placed on the wall of the aquarium so that it blows on the water.

I decided this way because the pumps and filter are suitable for a marine aquarium and are covered with a white coating (I haven't tasted it). Moreover, I thought the blue light of the lamps is mostly used for marine aquariums, but I guess I was wrong. I really wanted it. Thank you for your response, I will buy the mat. P.S. If I do decide to go for marine, is the equipment I have not suitable?

Jessica6754

Thank you for your response. 1) Sorry, if it's not too much trouble, could you explain what it means to lay under the laminate.. and what it means to lay 2 layers? 2) The water will be delivered today, I'll wash it, the equipment is already getting stagnant, there is a filter with a canister, the photo doesn't show up for some reason Jebo 828 (the fillers are not the same as in the store).

Laurie3842

Thank you, I understand everything.

Robert800

The underlayment that is placed under the laminate is sold in any hardware store, and in 2 layers means to fold it in half, but in such a way that the entire aquarium stands on it.

Sara4035

3 mm laminate underlayment (foamed polypropylene) 3 mm laminate underlayment (polystyrene) Which one is better or does it not matter? And one more question, should I put something under the cabinet itself? I have parquet flooring and I'm afraid there might be issues when I fill the aquarium.

Hannah

Many manufacturers produce universal pumps for freshwater/saltwater. It is quite possible that the aquarium was used for Malawi/Tanganyika, hence the white calcium deposits from hard water on the pumps. Also, in such aquariums, blue light is sometimes used, known as "pseudo sea."

Jason9952

It's best to soak everything in vinegar and leave it overnight, then clean it with a sponge in the morning. The effect is amazing, I've tried it. It removes all deposits. I also think it was a freshwater aquarium. There is no marine equipment here.

Veronica

Thank you for your responses, and I ask everyone for advice. I really want a marine aquarium. What equipment can I keep, and what (besides the protein skimmer, which I know is definitely needed) will I have to buy? There is an opinion that a 300-liter aquarium can do without a sump if I place more live rock that will take on the responsibilities of a natural bio-filter. Is that true?

Jessica6754

Start with fresh water, gain experience, and then move on to the sea. Maybe I'm wrong.

Kathleen

Not all marine aquarium owners had freshwater tanks "before." I would say more, "freshwater experience" is a poor helper in the sea.

James5103

I personally don't see any problems at all for now, and the price for all this was probably symbolic))) First, at least fill the aquarium or start the external filter, and then we can talk about problems))

David4968

The sea didn't hold. Probably I'm wrong. Pigs, scoundrel!!!!!!!!!

Susan1358

But if a person is completely clueless about aquaristics, then out of 10 such people, 9 will fail 100%. Oh, read up on it, and it's better to meet with someone from marine aquaristics. Off-topic, there are so many of them in Kyiv that soon they will need to be taken to the regions so they don't trip over each other during deliveries.

Katie5500

I see no reason to start gaining experience in marine aquaristics with a freshwater aquarium. Right now, I can easily name a dozen people from this forum who saw their first aquarium as a marine one. To this day, they have been quite successful in it. Before that, they were just attentive readers, etc.

Jessica6754

There is a lot of inexpensive literature where you will find all the answers to your questions!

Martin3206

Thank you for your advice. I mentioned at the beginning of the topic that the equipment is used, and unfortunately, I couldn't find any literature on why the lid on the Jebo 838 filter doesn't close. Here's an excerpt from the instructions I found online: "The MAXI-JET PH pump is installed on the aquarium wall below the water level (as shown in the picture on the packaging)." I obviously don't have the packaging, and I was hoping someone might be able to help me. Thank you to everyone who took the time to assist me, and I apologize if anything is amiss.

Darrell5975

How can I explain to you when you don't hear what is even being advised here? Try to be attentive and talk to sailors in person; a lot will become clear to you, and don't rush. Believe me, I have been dealing with the sea for almost three years, and there are so many mysteries and nuances. Although many think I am an expert, it's not that simple; in the sea, I am a lifelong student, and the more I know, the more questions I have. Only communication with sailors clarifies many things, while you just want advice, which could fill a hundred pages, and you won't understand it and will get confused. You need to read a lot, compare, communicate in person, see, analyze, and make your own choices. Don't rush.

Sarah5423

Thank you for your response. I hear all the advice well and take it into account. Unfortunately, I received not many specific answers to my questions about the aquarium, but rather opinions about myself. If there were comprehensive information in the literature, I wouldn't have created this topic and wouldn't have bothered you. I'll figure it out myself. Thank you all. The topic can be deleted.

Joseph1346

For Maxi-jet ph. You can take the instructions (packaging or catalog) and spare parts for it from our office if it is repairable. In your case, it is simply placed below the water level, in any convenient location for creating a current. Other pumps are installed in the same way. The goal is to create water movement in A to avoid stagnant (dead) zones. Phone office 5692552 Sincerely, .

Stephanie4990

Removing a topic is not difficult. However, there will still be even more questions. After reading your posts, I concluded that you will not be able to set up a marine aquarium by yourself; the best option is to involve experienced specialists who can help you both with advice and in practice.

Jessica9188

I currently have a freshwater setup, but I'm gathering equipment for a marine aquarium. I want the substrate to be only 1-2 cm deep (I'll be using sand). I'll place the rocks on the sand, not on grids. There are quite a few stores in Kyiv that deal with marine aquariums. I don't think there will be any problems. If I answered anything incorrectly, the experts will correct me.

Brianna

I am designing a 250-liter marine aquarium, not far from 300. The main thing is to decide on the equipment; the tank itself is not the most important. Read the topics created by sailors; they will guide you in the right direction. But the best thing, as someone said, is to communicate with sailors. You will understand much faster what you need. Yes, and the costs for a marine aquarium are approximately 10 dollars per liter, just for the setup. Even if you don't have the necessary amount for the setup, you can buy things gradually.

Joseph8842

Here is my light I don't see the starters On the other hand: Included: View of the aquarium from above. In the corner, as I understand it, is there a place for the skimmer? It seems there is no electronic ballast The length of the fixture is 100 cm, the legs are 85 cm

James3382

It will be a bit insufficient. This filter only helps with suspended particles.

Melissa2062

Small doses are meaningless, large doses are poison.

James4342

Definitely not. You need almost a distillate to add what is called salt. A simple osmotic filter and resin are required. What is good for humans is a disaster for the aquarium.

Joseph8842

I have 600 ppm of salts in the tap water, after osmosis it's 25-30 ppm, and after the resins it's 0 ppm. I need to buy the simplest osmosis system with resins, without any mineralizers or flavor enhancers. Just like in the photo:

Brooke

If that's the case, maybe it's worth switching to bottled water, which they sell and deliver. When I started my aquarium, I bought 300 liters of water at once, and then took 20 liters from them every day. My patience lasted for several months. At home, I also have opponents of osmosis, so I had to install a separate membrane (the filter was already there) and set up a tap for filling water in the aquarium.

Aaron580

Dear, do not try to outsmart fate; without osmotic water, your Reef is doomed. Therefore, try to approach this issue seriously and specifically, as luck alone will not suffice. Off-topic: And your geologists, like I am a gynecologist. My family and I have been drinking osmotic water for 7 years, we forgot what cavities are, my son's allergy has disappeared and he has been removed from the registry, and the sand in my kidney has dissolved. As for the taste quality of prepared dishes, tea, and coffee, I won't even mention it. For those with low pressure in the pipes, there is a pump in the system for that.

Jeffrey

There is nothing military there. The cartridges are sold in a mix. In your filter, if the cartridges are standard, replace them with regular ones - two polypropylene ones for 5 and 20 microns, and add one cartridge for activated carbon + a cartridge for the membrane (as Max explained).

Phillip9722

There are practically no alternatives to osmosis in the sea. It needs to be installed; otherwise, it’s just a headache and a hassle. As for the harm of osmosis water, I must express some doubt. Whether to install a mineralizer filter after the membrane is up to you. There is also a filter with coconut charcoal (personally, I didn’t like the taste of the water after it) and other filters for enriching purified water. The tap water in our city is below any criticism, and I won’t drink it. I believe I’m not the only one with such tap water.

Joseph8592

Arrange a tea party for them with tap water and water after osmosis; I think their opinion will change significantly after that.

Curtis

It is quite possible to do without a tank.

Beth3383

Osmosis can be set up in 10 minutes, and it can also be taken down and moved to another place; I don't see that as a problem. The problem is that you are planning to move to another location. You will fill the aquarium, and while it matures, you will be preparing to move. And that is a disaster. It's not like a little parakeet in a cage. You will have to start all over again, and you won't feel sorry for the animals in the aquarium. I don't see the point in starting then.

Kellie

I thought about it. Moving doesn't mean that I'm just draining the water, putting the fish in bags, the stones in plastic, and only starting to deal with them after a day. Most likely, I will set up another aquarium in the new place and gradually, as the new one matures, I will transfer the inhabitants from the old one. It takes 15-20 minutes to travel from place to place. For now, that's the plan. It's good news that the osmosis system can be moved, thank you.

Sheila1322

You would have practiced launching the sea at the old place, and at the new one, you would have created ......
