I apologize for my directness, dear Vadim, but with this approach, it's better to abandon this idea. It's equivalent to saying, I can't swim, it's not for me, I don't want to learn, I don't have the hands of a swimmer, yet at the same time, you want to swim to the buoy on your own. The end result is clear. Creating and maintaining a marine aquarium, especially a successful reef, in excellent condition for many years requires, first of all, love, patience, and effort, all of which are associated with financial costs and close communication with more experienced sailors. Think it over and make a decision.
Amanda
Vadim, there was a discussion on the neighboring forum about the MG 150 W. With such light, one can navigate on their own, and also guide sellers more towards SPS rather than soft corals. Such light is not suitable for soft corals... it's a pity to translate.
Wanda666
If you're not very handy and don't want to do anything, take this set. It will do for undemanding corals. But you'll still have to read some literature.
Patricia
I am not counting on many years; I want to give it a try. And on my own, simply because there are no people in Donetsk who can create a good aquarium diligently. That is why I will start with the simplest. Don't worry about the financial costs; let it be my headache. Moreover, I have not limited the project financially.
Nicholas2252
Not suitable, as there is already an aquarium, and there is also space for it.
Meghan
The light is already there too. I mean, the lamp with the metal halide light is already hung. It's just a matter of replacing the bulb and probably thinking about additional lighting.
Jennifer9100
Light, skimmer, and water pump.
The skimmer - Deltec MCE 300 would be an ideal option.
For the water pump - I think Koralia 1 will be sufficient.
PS Isn't 150W too much for 75 liters with soft corals...?
James4757
The light hangs high.
I was planning for such Vortech MP10 flow. Will it work?
Should there be a box for chemicals in the foam? I plan to actively use chemicals from Seachem.
Andrew9246
Of course, it will work! The pump is just great!
Basically, it wouldn't hurt.. What specific chemicals are you planning to use? And most importantly, for what purpose? The chemicals might not be needed at all.
Marie5735
In a fume hood, how is the box for chemicals?
Yolanda
Seachem Purigen.
Barbara
I have no idea.
Alejandro
Like this? Instead of a sponge?
But how will this affect the performance of the foam?
+ The flow through the filler should be specific, or there will be a loss here as well.
Javier5186
It will not affect it at all. I have the same (Deltec MC500) skimmer. Previously, instead of a sponge, I placed a bag with chemi-pure in there. It did not impact the skimmer's performance.
PS By the way, a media box can be purchased for the Deltec MCE600.
Eric8832
Is there a device that can be combined with "bags"?
Martin3206
Why do you need chemistry in the aquarium?
What problems do you want to solve with chemistry?
Kayla7655
I don't understand why and for what purpose, I haven't used it and I'm not thinking about it.
I completely agree.
Alan273
A hanging Aquamedic Multi will also work; it has a container with balls for the drain, where you can place a bag with fillers. All hanging skimmers have one downside: the system does not collect the surface film, so I would think about the overflow sump. For the tank, you need to add a couple of T5 actinics and also solve the overheating problem (air conditioner or chiller).
Cindy
It is expected to remove organic matter, phosphates, and nitrogen compounds using chemistry.
Daniel8015
Volodya, thank you. The aquarium is located opposite the air conditioner.
Jonathon8514
Why not provide this to macrophytes?
Jonathon8514
Because there is a desire to do without J.K. (living stones).
Andrew9581
My friend, I fear that the inhabitants who love marine aquaristics (there aren't many of us) won't be able to help you. As an option, if you have everything and nothing at the same time, reach out to the marine aquarium, Seawolf here on the forum—he might sell you something, but with that approach, you won't really achieve much.
David953
Well, there are other opinions. There are plenty of successful aquariums that operate on chemicals and without live rock.
Julie
I really want to see one of them...
Joseph8592
I understand that any seller will talk about how essential live rocks are. Where else can you find such markups if not in the trade of them? Where else can you inflate prices three or four times?
Lori4746
You don't have any of this yet, and you already want to set it up... It seems that you are planning not a marine aquarium, but a swamp.
Added after 1 minute Good luck with this not-so-simple hobby... And I look forward to seeing at least one successful aquarium without "her."
Veronica
This will be your main mistake! Moreover, maybe you should really think about whether you need the sea...??
Nicole2404
My friend, there are reef aquariums in the city, and they are very expensive. All your bragging about costs is of no interest here. Believe me, there are very expensive systems here, and when someone named Stas writes to you, you need to listen to him because he speaks the truth, not just to chat aimlessly.
Ricky9405
Well, organic matter, phosphates, and nitrogen compounds won't take long to appear. And the issue of using sorbents is a matter of dosage. I'm not planning to add a kilo of coal. You must have read about Purigen. You only need about 20-30 mL for my aquarium, depending on the bio-load in the environment.
Elizabeth882
Dear, there are different types of aquariums. The price for them depends on many factors, starting from the honesty of the seller and ending with the gullibility of the buyer. Many of my friends and acquaintances have reefs. They cost a fortune, maintenance is 200 bucks, and it's painful and embarrassing to look at. I just keep quiet to avoid offending the aquarium owner and to save the seller's face.
Yes, and there are different types of reefs, so the requirements for them are also different.
Ricky9405
Dear macroalgae are algae, not live rocks. You can somehow manage without macroalgae, but without live rocks, you’re out of luck, and I personally have seen two such smart guys and know them. They no longer deal with the sea; they experimented with their own. Their activities lasted exactly 7-8 months.
Who has such ridiculous opinions? Don’t engage in nonsense; who do you want to hang these lies on here? Maybe you’re mistaken and writing all this nonsense in the wrong place. Or are you just trying to stir up a scandal with your nonsense? Be warned, this will go to moderation.
Adrienne
RUB for a hundred, I don't have any rift friends in Donetsk))))) There are a few of us, and I don't know you, believe me. In general, go to Vova, he will take care of everything for you.((((())))
Jeremy3637
First of all, your opinion has already been expressed, and I have heard it. Whether I will engage in this for a month, two, or a year is my business.
Secondly, take a look at the date of my registration on the forum.
Chad
Buddy, they won't even let you on the threshold of those houses I'm talking about. Vova, is this "Colonel"?
Danielle9144
Organic matter, phosphates, and various compounds are an integral part of any aquarium, but thanks to the proper setup and approach, all of this will be processed and recycled by the system itself, without the use of chemicals. Chemicals are only used in critical cases when the system is on the brink, but it is not possible to maintain an aquarium in that state. I have read about Purigen and even used it; it is a useless and very dangerous product for reef aquariums. It can only be used in heavily stocked fish tanks.
Anna9752
The flag is in your hands. Create a sea as you wish, and let it last for 3-4 months. Take photos and provide a report on your unique method to amaze us; otherwise, it's just marine dust. Your registration date after such discoveries in marine aquaristics won't enhance your reputation. That's in the section for those who are new to the forum. You can shine with your registration date here, but it doesn't count. Photos and a detailed description of your reef are what matter.
Emma
I'm not asking to come to houses))) that don't exist))) say hi to Vova.
Susan9583
I do not claim to have a reputation in marine aquaristics. This is my aquarium and my path that I have chosen. I have heard your opinion on this matter.
Alan273
I would pass it on, I just don't know which Vova you are talking about.
Katie3017
I am still waiting and hoping to see a successful aquarium without live rock. Or were those just empty words?
Dawn6148
No one disputes this. Grandfather's methods are still valid. There are certainly cases where only they work. I intend to take a different path.
Hannah
wait))))
Monique1236
Are you doomed to fail in advance? Maybe you just have money to burn and don't care about animals?
Jacqueline6670
If you are talking about mine, then it doesn't exist. I don't have a marine aquarium at all yet. If it's about global experience, then Vitaly (Arowana) promised to send links. I opened a similar topic on Aquafan as well.
Emily
I am talking about the global experience for which there is no information. I am sure there will be no references. Such statements have been made many times before, but the result has always been the same...
Mike
To avoid linking to someone else's resource, I sent it in a private message.
Tanya
I think we need to cover the topic. Let's see what Vadik will buy for himself with a super budget of about 100 liters. I suspect who will sell and who will service the super reef.
Alan273
I don't think it's up to you to decide what to close and what not to. Also, I definitely won't be buying anything in Donetsk, as I don't trust the local shipping companies.
Jose
According to the link you sent me in private, after the launch, you will completely lose the desire to engage with the sea. And most importantly, we will not see successful aquariums based on chemistry without live rocks and references to them. Vadim, I wish you to make the right choice and avoid mistakes.
Bethany
There is no point in arguing with me, as I am not a specialist. In the link I provided, the person says that such examples exist. And regarding live stones, the same person expressed himself quite clearly. Argue with him.
Rachel
I am not arguing with you, but trying to point out the right path. The person in the link you provided is talking nonsense. There are no successful examples!!!
David7773
Vitaly says there are.
Okay, I will ask him for the links. Especially since he mentioned them.
John3187
We will wait
But for now, it's just talk...
Bethany
Initially, I did not agree with you, but now, after 4 pages of this "discussion," I agree 100%!
I don't understand... You created this topic, asked for advice from sailors, but it turns out you know everything better than anyone. It seems that all you need for a successful marine tank is NEJ.K. (live rocks), not a good skimmer, which you hardly mention in 4 pages, but just Purigen! Well, go ahead!!! Follow your planned path of creating a marine tank! Sorry, but I don't see the point of this topic...
Brent5588
In fact, instead of live rocks (L.R.), you can buy dry reef rocks (D.R.R.) + 5 tons of live rocks (L.R.), which will be quite budget-friendly. The setup will take longer, but from every $4 (D.R.R.) after a year, you will get at least $14 (if you sell later), and there will be no issues with iptanaesia palolo and ov... the only loss will be time... and you can save a lot on the initial setup.
Amy5070
I asked for advice on equipment. Discussions about the role of live rock in the life of a marine aquarium are not the topic of this thread. I don't see any problems with that at all. One might think that whether I use live rock or dry rock depends on the list of necessary equipment.
Kyle

What is the connection? Do we need different lamps, a pen or flow pumps? I don't need a quick start either; I'm not in a hurry. So, I will go this way.
A very familiar misconception. There are plenty of examples, even from our forum members, when experienced gurus were defeated by what "the youth" does. I know this for sure, as I have been in such a position myself.

Mandarinka is more about the approaches to the issues of system filling.
I hope we don't push someone to "stick to their principles" without weighing all the pros and cons. Everyone has their own style of presenting questions and interpreting them.
P.S. It seemed like the question was ordinary, no better or worse than anyone else's. But it got criticized so much... Is it the heat or something?
Chad231
I will repeat myself. I'm not afraid of the result. I'm not setting up the aquarium for an exhibition or for an article. There's a space, there's an aquarium, so I decided to give it a try. If it doesn't work out, it's not a big deal; it doesn't stress me out. I will continue to work on my planted tanks and shrimp.
Reginald5073
In short... For free, I would share with any marine aquarist from Donetsk for starting up, any chemicals, frags, of course, experience... If this is really needed by someone... But so far, I only know three people like that. P.S. At the HOBBY level... I don't make money from the sea...
Angela6489
They took the boy for granted.
And I am an experienced person. As for authoritative opinions and authorities, that's a whole different conversation.
For many, many years, I've been dealing with herbalists, acting smart, puffing up my cheeks (just like some here), and then a "youngster" comes along and shows how in less than a year he has mastered such herbalism that I could just bite my elbows. And all of us, all the forum members. True, some have moved on to another, but the aquariums haven't become any worse because of that.
Anne
1. Deltec 500 or 600.
3. Consider the design/layout of the S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) right away. Don't rush with the final arrangement until the aquarium is filled. Take a look at the Taka aquarium.
Martha
If I decide to, I will remind you of your words.
Nicholas2252
Maybe he should start directly with Acropor and non-photosynthetic organisms? Why be modest?
Vanessa6144
Can I have a link?
Anthony7814
At any time, because everyone is afraid, thinking that I will start asking for money as a loan...
Chad231
Well, that's still about three years away. I'm still a novice in aquaristics.
Kenneth7210
So, friends. Dmitry has already received a yellow card. Vadim Art is on the verge of getting one. Shall we communicate like adults, or will I start banning?
Vadim Art - I would like to hear the OVERALL concept of launching your system. And if there are questions about the launch, then those as well. Then we can give some advice and discuss the details.
P.S. I think you have already thought everything through regarding what to do. I haven't noticed your desire to get answers, as I haven't seen clearly formulated questions.
Noah1632
Maybe.
Actually, I don't know what it is, but...
My time and my money. I spend them as I wish.
Kevin
I am not discussing the launch concept; I asked a question about the hardware. I need recommendations only for the hardware based on what I described in the first post. That's it! I will write about the card distribution in a private message.

Last summer, an acquaintance set up a budget aquarium on dry rocks. The aquarium is about 300 liters. Then he added 3-5 kg of live rocks. The lighting is with T8 lamps, but he is buying a fixture with 2 MH 150W and 4 T5. The flow is 2 san-sana at 3,000 l/h, and I advised him to increase it. He started with Red Sea salt, now he uses Tetra. The condition of the aquarium is not very good, but the patient is still alive. It might be due to the source water or something else. It's hard to give him advice without seeing the aquarium. It is possible to set up on dry rocks, but it's difficult and experience is desirable.
Sara
Vadim, you are right. You should really write down what you want to achieve as a result (and step by step), how you envision it. If it's an experiment, then just say so. ............................. Of course, you can give advice on hardware, but you can give smart advice based on an understanding of goals and tasks, or you can give advice like "just get the most expensive and best" (as if it might come in handy later). ............................. Remember the story with the aquacontroller when I (knowing your aquariums) advised you against getting it. But I KNEW, while people just ASSUME!!!
Lee425
A 150W MH light will be enough, or T5 tubes. A Vortex MP10 if it's not too expensive. A hang-on skimmer or without it. In this volume, you can manage with water changes. That seems to be all. We can discuss the details further.
First, you need to determine what you need before making a purchase.
Collin
Thank you, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. Now about the details. The light will be MH 150. Which lamp should I choose? I will definitely take a skimmer. Which one do you recommend? The flow will be specifically Vortex MP10. I'm getting them for the planted tank, and also for this one.
Robert1845
Not bad, BLV 20,000K MH lamps. Good prices at Elektrosila. I just bought some Chinese ones, I want to see how long they will last, I'm satisfied with the spectrum.
I would recommend without. Change 20%, that is, 15 liters once a week - it's inexpensive and not stressful. Oh, I made a mistake with the price, I was thinking of Deltec but wrote Tunze. Here it's hard for me to advise, I used the Sea Clone 150 from Aquarium Systems. I was not satisfied.
It's fine. What's the point of this pump specifically for a planted tank?

It turns out to be strange. A person came and understood everything right away, while some did not. Who should I complain to? Well, maybe to myself. The conversation initially was about S.R.K. And the link is still missing, it seems the guru from the neighboring forum is just talking nonsense...
Amanda5586
Well, it turns out that the local gurus are not aware of S.R.C. (dry reef stones). Google is at your service; the third link directs us to a quite reputable resource.
There, people discuss S.R.C. (dry reef stones) without hysteria and puffing up their cheeks, including the launch on them.
Janet5447
S.R.C. (dry reef rocks) is a good product that is excellent for making decorations and serves as a good base, but in combination with J.K. (live rocks). The first link is a simple discussion without specific examples. The second link refers to an aquarium whose fate is unknown; moreover, it is hard to call it successful...
Chad4168
I found two random links, and in both, people talk about numerous examples of dry rock reefs (S.R.K.) primarily in the Western world. Well, that's understandable; they like and know how to count money there.
You can also search Google for "Dry Rock."
So, what do we have?
1. There are links to the launch and existence of reefs on dry rock (S.R.K.).
Therefore, I am not the only idiot, and my idea has every right to exist.
2. The sharp rejection of this idea by a certain part of the forum is also understandable.
Jacqueline5976
Will you manage?
David
the launch date of the aquarium at the link - 2007.
Laura9093
Regarding the skimmer. I recently returned from vacation. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the aquarium lived without a skimmer for almost 2 weeks. There are about 20 colonies of SPS in the aquarium now. All changes have been for the better. They have colored up and grown. Nitrates are at 0. The chaetomorpha in the sump has finally started to grow and has tripled in volume. Of course, I won't throw away the skimmer. But some principles of marine aquaristics need to be recognized as dead ends, like: no skimmer, no sea, light only with metal halides, etc.
Is this, by any chance, your words?
James4342
I just got into the topic((( - this is my thing!!! If Vadik forgets all the disputes, I'm ready to participate in the experiment of launching an aquarium with S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) - just like I wanted to try. Chemistry is my thing - the rocks and Vadik's aquarium. I expect approximate results by the end of the year. As an option, I'm ready to give it a try.
Melinda
Let's summarize.
1. What to do, I have already decided.
2. The equipment set is generally clear. Thanks to those who helped with this. I will start searching and buying.
3. The next step is to choose salt and purchase resins.
By the way, sellers, does anyone have two Vortech MP10s?
Laura9093
Vadik, don't take offense, but the phrase is hilarious.
Martin3206
I managed to get through it. The essence of the discussion comes down to what I've already told you: if you want to use dry rock (S.R.K.), mix it with half live rock (J.K.). Essentially, it's the usual discussion of "dry rock (S.R.K.) versus live rock (J.K.)." There are plenty of such topics on all forums. And as usual, not a single worthy aquarium using dry rock (S.R.K.) has been presented.
Thomas1044
A stable system can withstand some fluctuations. In particular, my aquarium did not notice the short-term absence of a skimmer, as a large number of organisms form long food chains. The temperature in my tank even rose to 30 degrees recently...
P.S. Haaga had a very, very successful reef without a skimmer at all.
Earl
Vadim, start it, throw it, put whatever your heart desires, and around November, you'll wipe the noses of everyone, or they'll forget you unnoticed in the marine theme if you don't show up with photos of your reef. How long can you keep talking in circles? You still don't hear anyone. Are you confident in your success? Then get to work.
Jonathon8514
Why?
Do I need to choose salt? Yes!
And I also need to buy ion exchange resin. I know that marine aquarium enthusiasts use it, that's why I asked. I need cation exchange resin in H-form and weakly alkaline anion exchange resin.
Stephanie3084
Oh, great idea. A lot of salt!.... And frequent water changes. Essentially, keep an aquarium with very undemanding species and frequent large water changes. Then I would recommend Tetra salt - the quality is good and it won't break the bank.
P.S. Just so you know, I'm not joking, I'm quite serious. You have a small volume, no fish are planned.
Jacqueline5976
What do you need resin for?
Emily3506
I am not vain enough to seek recognition among sailors. I only opened the topic yesterday, and I haven't had time to buy the equipment.
Amber1273

James1625
We usually use mixed resin. Ask Denis (Torfish) - he has good resin (and Vortex 10 as well).
Spencer7805
So, are you deciding whether you're an African cichlid keeper? And how about a planted tank for the sea???
Todd8452
And I haven't seen any vain people here, but everyone is ready to rejoice in the successes of the new sailor, especially to see his creation.
Nancy
you are joking))
Jessica9188
I took that into account. There is a certain specificity to nano cans. It is possible to make frequent substitutions without much trouble, like a duct.
Brandy
I would be interested in your sequential actions for setting up the aquarium! So you filled it with water (I hope it's clear that tap water isn't suitable?), added salt, placed dry reef rocks, and added some sand. What comes next?
Kenneth2761
What’s up? A direct question - a direct answer.
Thomas
I have a lot of things. I used to use resin in herbalism. I brought osmosis to the condition I needed.
Melanie
A person has an aquarium in which 50% is live rock and 50% is dry rock. I can't understand what you meant by this reference?
Jason5071
You won't believe it, I have an osmosis system with five membranes and two booster pumps. Should I show you a photo?
John3187
Vadim, look, Yoda quietly, calmly, modestly, without shouting and noise, placed nano riff post 410, 411.
Zoe7451
I want to say that the topic I want to try is quite alive and not as ridiculous as some try to present it. At the very least, it is debatable, but by no means foolish. I will give it a try.
Jesse3979
I apologize for posting in someone else's thread; I don't want to open a new one. I'll ask here. I'm gradually getting closer to a small sea, and a question has come up along the way. Let's say there is a live rock that has recently been taken from the sea, and another one that has been kept in a moist state during shipping and storage for some time. It is logical to assume that the second one is of lower quality than the first, similar to dairy products. What is the time limit after which live rock loses a significant part of its usefulness?

Katie3017
Des, your power allows you to launch one on S.R.K. (dry reef stones). You'll report back by the New Year. I don't think it will differ from the simple one, except for the time, right?
Emma
His fate has been known for only a few months, and after that, there were only discussions without confirmation and photos, and then the topic completely died down.
Nicole2404
Of course, it makes sense! If J.K. (live stones) has been sitting in transit and storage for a long time, then it's already a graveyard! What is the time limit? If I'm not mistaken, it's about 36 hours in a moist state. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Danielle9144
So in combination with J.K. (living stones) it is certainly alive...
David
The topic is quite alive and without live rocks. I will repeat. I am ready to buy 2 Vortex pumps, resin, and salt from you, but I will not buy live rocks. Well, maybe some lights.
Daniel
I'm not insisting on buying J.K. (living stones), I'm just trying to protect you from failure in such an interesting hobby...

Thank you. Here, there are normal posts. Without the big-city puffing up. In the photo I sent you, next to the supposed sea, there is also a small 30-liter aquarium. Is it suitable for a planted tank? Where can I read about them?
Tanya
You can save on some things, but something has to compensate for that savings. For example, I started with (450L) practically on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), but I had good, expensive live sand (or at least expensive for me)... I only tested for salinity, while development is progressing on its own, and the corals are growing, and the algae disappeared a long time ago... but I don't have any demanding animals... except for a gift from a forum member, a tough fragment... and it is growing without problems.
Read this, the person tortured the aquarium as much as he could (even poured urine), but it still lived for him:
Robin
It's not about saving.
Can you provide a link to the sand?
Arelev also worked with live sand and praised it as well.

Zoe7451
Once again, I'm not in a hurry. Here, two people are already talking about the good properties of live sand. In principle, I was planning to get it; I mentioned it right away on the aquaforum. I'll introduce bacteria, buy a tiny coral, which will also bring a culture of bacteria, and so on... Everything at a very leisurely pace.
Sarah
I have a lot of dirt (mineral mud) in the system. What can I say - I like the mangrove, but to give up the foam... that's too much. Just a good substrate. Overall, I approve of the setup in the algae tank with mineral mud.
By the way, I tried turning off the water exchange between the mangrove tank and the filtration system. Filamentous algae and other undesirable growths start to appear. So, don't expect miracles from miracle mud.

I believe that with a reasonable and gradual increase in bio-load, it is possible to start with chemistry. In any case, I have experience in creating and maintaining specific water parameters.
The other question is that I don't know exactly how to start the bio-load process, which specific hydrobionts to begin with.

Have you heard about anion exchangers? Would you like me to name the brands of anion exchangers produced in our country that can effectively remove nitrates from water?
Matthew1280
No, thank you, I don't need it. And if nitrates appear in my aquarium, I'd rather add vodka.
Andrew9246
We are just fools here and didn't know that you can start aquariums with magical powders. You have really opened our eyes. As for bacteria, read the literature. To start with, check out Ova and Savchuk's "Reef Aquarium" so you don't stir up the forum with silly questions. In short, denitrification is the process of anaerobic respiration, meaning the use of nitrates and products of their partial reduction instead of oxygen to oxidize substances during metabolism, releasing energy. Anaerobic zones directly border aerobic ones: in live rocks, in deep sandy substrates, and in substrates based on Mineral-mud.
Monique1236
Yes, I will name them for you. By the way, when choosing a resin for water treatment, pay attention to whether it removes silicates - this is much more important. And if you put an anion exchange resin in seawater, nothing good will come of it. This is not a herbalist.
Andrew9246
And where have you seen anaerobic zones "on the substrate"? Are there such zones in live rocks, or not? It's hard to say. The conditions must be very specific. There needs to be an absence of oxygen, and at the same time, a weak current of water is required. In soils, this is real, and many do it that way (well, I don't need to tell you). In live rocks, it's questionable.
George5104
What are you pushing in?
Gregory
Vadim, I think you're just a demagogue, and the sea is as necessary for you as an umbrella is for a fish. You start it, then let's discuss (I used to raise discus before the sea, and my knowledge of freshwater has been very conditional). Talking is not the same as moving bags... all marine aquarium enthusiasts usually start from the budget of the project; state how much you're willing to spend, and they'll advise you on the equipment.
David3217
You may have misunderstood - in the sea, ion exchange resins are used only for preparing source water or water for replacement. The use of cation and anion resins in marine aquaristics borders on madness.
Jennifer5371
The zones may be adjacent. But what do live rocks have to do with it? Well, maybe for your 3 cubic meters of rock, there might be an anaerobic zone a couple of centimeters in size where denitrification can occur. Living organisms? Possibly. But explain to me, if I can remove nitrate (and other nitrogen compounds), organic matter, and phosphate with chemical means, then why all the fuss with live rocks?
Dana6523
Thank you.
In fact, I don't know what zoanthids are.
I'll say more, I don't aspire to create a worthy marine aquarium. That's not the goal, it's not my hobby. It's quite possible that three zoanthids will be enough for me.
Hence my approach.
I don't want to achieve anything. I don't like the sea at all, but looking at photos of some aquariums with soft corals, I developed a desire to try. To try the simplest, maybe that's exactly what three zoanthids are.
For today, that's quite enough for me.
Natasha
The simple answer is: you cannot use chemistry to export unwanted nitrogen and phosphorus-containing elements from the aquarium. It's just not possible by definition. You can do it through water changes, but not with chemistry. Forget about your experience in freshwater aquaristics. In the sea, everything is completely different. You should read up on specialized chemistry; it won't hurt you. And notice that on no forum (this one, Reef Central) does anyone maintain an aquarium using chemistry. It's not because everyone is foolish.
Angela
Damn, it's because the unfortunate 5 kg of live rock at $20 = $100 is immeasurably cheaper and less of a hassle than the chemicals that will be poured into the aquarium, plus literally the next day there's a show of living creatures that you can't buy (or why buy them) that you can observe and enjoy... the same worms come with live rock, fan worms? Why buy them... they are in live rock... of course, there are also palolo and mayano... but there are immeasurably fewer of them... live rock is a container with animals, many of which are worth much more than the $20 invested...
Robin
The laws of chemistry don't work for the sea? You are not reading my posts carefully. I am creating a nano aquarium precisely because it simplifies the water change regime. Not just chemistry! My formula is water changes + chemistry!
Jessica6754
I partially agree - your formula is SUBSTITUTION. It solves everything. Chemistry can be disregarded - it will only serve for self-soothing.
Debra8438
I don't want this show. Have you ever thought that there are other concepts of beauty? I can totally accept that three zoanthids would suit me. By the way, I looked them up on Google, and I actually liked them.
Destiny
Vadim, this is not for you; you won't succeed with such a love for the sea and this approach. May I ask, are you by any chance a chemistry teacher?
Robert
Look at the minimum of Leo with, I'm serious... if I were in your place, I would do it this way, simple and quick... consider this Vallisneria in the GUPs in freshwater, there in the topic on the logo, the simplest launch is described...
Here, read this:
Breanna9982
I, in the distant past, was a history teacher. Chemistry, that comes from herbalists.
What won't work?
I am not aiming to create an aquarium that will please the forum members; I am aiming to create an aquarium that I will like. I am a terrible, self-sufficient egoist.
Michelle5859
Guppies are not for me, I don't like fish. I didn't like the result, but I'll read about the launch and maintenance. Thank you.
Erin
Well, Vadim, the cichlids are definitely not guppies; I just personally want their school... it's exactly what everyone shouts as soon as they walk in... THIS IS THE SEA. If there are kids, it's worth getting them, and the fish are rock-solid... that's why I compared them to guppies.
Patrick4439
I liked the idea, the launch, and the maintenance. You just need to choose different livestock, and everything will be fine!
I will explain what I didn't like about Leo's aquarium. I didn't like the proportions. I want the nano aquarium to have nano livestock. How can I explain this to you, sailors? In nano freshwater tanks, shrimp are up to 1 cm, and fish are selected to be 1-1.5 cm long, with small plants. This creates a proportional picture.
Is it possible to achieve this in my case? Well, of course, considering that the aquarium is not 20 liters, but 75. That is, small corals, small worms, mollusks, and invertebrates.
Kevin8087
I suspect you have a different task. There is no particular desire to help a person who, out of love for themselves, does not hear or see, and most importantly, does not want to hear anyone on the Aqua Forum. So why all this fuss, what do you want to show? You are not the revolutionary in marine aquaristics that you think you are. Approach all of this as a historian. Create your nano-reef as you like, and if you are not a hardened egoist yet, show it to us and share your experience; otherwise, all this fuss will end as foolishly as it began. This is my opinion, take it without offense.
Cheryl9296
Not at all. I got answers to the questions that interested me. There are people who provided quite specific and useful advice on the equipment. Thank them for that.
Michelle9986
Then it might be worth temporarily closing the topic and reopening it when there is a personal result, if there is at least something.
David953
Yes, I have decided on the equipment.
The next question is about livestock. I want to get nano livestock so that it doesn't turn out that three corals will take up the entire aquarium. Please recommend some easy-to-care-for nano livestock.
Jeffrey2277
Look at the topic of nano corals and fish.
Cassandra7840
Before thinking about livestock, you need to set up the aquarium; otherwise, you can discuss for another ten pages which coral to keep and where to place it. There is a lot of information on the same Reef Central, from where you skillfully provide links, and there are enough similar topics on this forum. I think it's enough to complicate things; you should focus on the task at hand if you're really interested...
Ashley5975

Lindsey3628
Thank you, interesting.
Lindsey3362
Valera, it's worth trying and necessary. Many have attempted to launch on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) among those who have commented in this thread.
Launching on S.R.K. (dry reef rocks) resembles the resurrection of Frankenstein more than the birth of a creation.
Natasha
I also had a similar idea in my head. I wanted to set up a small reef in the office using dry rock (S.R.K.). I was thinking of 50% dry rock (S.R.K.) + 50% live rock (L.K.). But after I saw what dry rock (S.R.K.) looks like in person, my desire immediately disappeared. I thought the rocks were cleaned before being dried. But no, all the life in it remained in the form of dust. I don't really want to spend months battling the background.
Monica
Damn... why against S.R.K. (dry reef rocks)? There are plenty of chemicals to combat the background... to be honest, as a seller of L.K. (live rocks) and S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), your words are quite hurtful.
It's much more profitable to sell, store, import, and ship - S.R.K. (dry reef rocks), so I am for S.R.K. (dry reef rocks)!
Christine864
Пожалуйста, предоставьте текст для перевода.
James5032
It turns out to be funny. This topic has a continuation that turned out to be quite unexpected.
-"You can build a sea on S.R.K. (dry reef stones), you can do it without stones... and on any sand and any salt... and with any chemistry, and choose any chemistry you want) I think there's no point in arguing. In the neighboring topic "NANO-Action," several aquariums have been launched, everyone sees that it all worked..., everything is functioning and living and will continue to live."
Who do you think said these words?
Maria
Off-topic Don't worry! Soon the professor will move the capital to Donetsk and it will be your turn to "puff up your cheeks"! I apologize to the moderators for the off-topic, but I can't stand rudeness! And you, Vadim, as a teacher, should not behave this way.
Nicole2404
Should I remain silent?
Daniel4967
These are my words!
Everything is possible!!! You can even create a sea in a liter. Our zooplankton lives for several weeks in 250 ml! What’s not to call a sea? There are no stones, sand, or chemicals, yet it thrives!!!
Michelle5859
You shouldn't have given up so quickly. Everyone kept convincing me that it was impossible. Well, that's fine. I'm buying equipment, waiting for the chemicals, and getting started.
Michelle9986
We are waiting for the photo report. Have a good trip!
Deborah2682
Why not give up on yourself? I stand for justice! We have another system with 600 liters of water, a bunch of "poison," salinity at its limit, and the minimum temperature for the sea (let's say metaphorically), and so what? All the fish live, are healthy, and feel great. And this is also the sea!
Mitchell7972
People, let's take a broader look at marine aquariums. If no one has kept the sea with chemicals, then why can't it be done? A person wants to try, especially since they have experience with freshwater. Perhaps their experience will be positive and useful. This is a very interesting direction, especially since not long ago there was something similar. A person mentioned that Americans keep aquariums with chemicals and everything is fine for them. However, there was no more information. Although I often see marine aquariums in movies that seem to have no excessive equipment.
Alexander
The main thing is that it shouldn't be blah blah blah... that's what it's about...
Caroline1599
There is a person willing to do this for a bet. Are you ready to bet?
Megan
Vadim, how is it going?
Jeffrey2277
Off-topic. E... this will already be an "on the house" experiment!!!
I am ready to be a referee. 10% commission.
P.S.
To all forum members - I will provide a loan for a month of the deposit amount at 25% annual interest.
I will accept seriators, actopores, montipores, and others as collateral, starting from 30 cm bush in diameter.
Andrea
Well, how can they not contain it? They do! I'll say more - they even contain it without a skimmer. A person has about 50 kg of live rock in a 850-liter aquarium (though it's still live rock)! But they do it with knowledge and love for the sea, not just for the sake of it!
Andrew7823
I arranged to call him, he liked my idea. I plan to take the lamp from E.K., I found out about the pumps from Y. As for the chemistry, it's still not clear. I need to ask Yanovsky what is available.
Adrienne
If you have settled on chemistry, try chemi-pure elite. Besides organics, it will also remove phosphates and silicates.
Stephen5841
I wouldn't rush with the chemistry, though you can always buy it (and where would you even put it?). First, buy dry reef rocks. The rock needs to be cleaned well and placed in fresh water for at least a week. Then, salt it, put the rock in, add some substrate, toss in a small bunch of chaetomorpha... and leave it all untouched for at least two weeks.
Lynn4242
Strange beliefs... Where was the phosphate supposed to come from?? How did they justify this?
Kristen1161
So you don't have exactly S.R.C. (dry reef rocks), but Caribbean rocks. In my opinion, this is not S.R.C. (dry reef rocks) at all, but rather a really good thing for decorating the reef and laying its foundation, provided that live rocks (L.R.) are added later.
Meghan
To some extent, this is S.R.C. (dry reef stones). But not the stone of unclear origin and quality that one of the shops in Kyiv sells. As far as I know, the stone sold at iRife is of excellent quality and is mined deep underground. /Denis, correct me if I'm wrong!
Joseph8592
The storm has calmed down, they almost gave the green light for spending personal money, and that's great! What if luck is on our side!
But if it were possible to do it completely without stones... I would have done it that way. But alas!
Guy
Well, why not? I think if we set up a filtering system properly, we can give it a try! What if it works...
Mike
Exactly... that's what I was thinking too!
Nicholas2252
Not only that! When we go to the store for coral fish, we see racks without stones. Right? And everything lives and thrives there! But how to do it at home so that it looks beautiful too?
Steven
Yes, this stone is not directly from the reef. It doesn't have any dried animals on it.
Natalie
Here is a video discussing a stone very similar to the one in iRife.
Julie
In the store, there is a possibility, or perhaps a necessity, to change the decorations.
Angela
Vadim, what's going on?
Cassandra7840
I was browsing quickly, but it seems like a person was launching on S.R.C. (dry reef stones). They just restarted. Maybe something interesting can be gleaned from the history.
Julie4738
I have already taken sand, salt, MГ, and ion exchange resin.
Andrew9246
Offtopic Did you buy J.K. (living stones)?
Jeremy
Can you take a photo? Our people here are quite skeptical.
Denise
Aren't you going to clean the floors?
Joe
Vadim, phew......
Marie5735
Thank you, I'm getting cleaned up, but you can take the dog for a walk, you'll get started faster, I guarantee it, and without chemicals.
Bethany
Will there be enough money? You know, I'm used to spending a lot in a day, and consequently, earning a lot.
James4757
Why is that? Why should I owe someone something? Should I also show a receipt and an invoice? Well, they didn't give me a receipt.
Stephanie4990
Off-topic. Do I need to drink beer with someone? Why not, I can.
Tracey
Off-topic, I think it's not worth trying to catch butterflies in the same field... hmm... I read a couple of his threads, a typical forum troll, sometimes he doesn't like Eheim (which is a wonderful filter, by the way), sometimes the chemistry isn't right... in short, the guy just drives everyone into off-topic discussions and the threads get closed.
Stephen
Offtopic Why not spam a bit? It's summer, it's hot, I'm losing my mind. Here I am, spamming myself. And then I'll delete everything myself.
Daniel4967
I left work early today, thinking I would stop by the aquarium center, then to Irif... to see something interesting, but everything is closed everywhere... had to get drunk at home without any new stuff.
Chelsea
Today the salt arrived, tomorrow Seachem will come. So, the issue with iron and chemicals is settled.
Melissa2062
Are you up and running?
Ross
Such a topic, 17 pages! And suddenly everything was cut off mid-sentence...
Deborah2682
Everything will be ready soon. I already bought a camera. I have been saying from the very beginning that I am not in a hurry. I will pick up the S.R.C. (dry reef stones) on Monday.
Randall7906
Where did you find it? I'm very curious.

What do you plan to add to biology?
P.S. Well, it's time to go to the appropriate section: "Marine aquariums......"
Rachael
the aquarium is still far away. I plan to get the biology from Seachem.
Ronald
Colleagues, can you tell me how to use a refractometer of this type?
Jonathan6173
Are you planning to add livestock already? How will biological filtration be carried out?
Craig7302
No. There is a filter hanging there.
Sheila
How are you doing?
Joseph8842
Apparently not...
David4968
Everything is fine. The aquarium is maturing for the introduction of the first inhabitants.
Anthony
It must be ripe by now. Isn't it time to move to the "My Marine Aquarium" section?
