Corner? As for the height... it's not a simple question, as there is no definitive answer. On one hand, the taller the aquarium, the better it looks. On the other hand, tall aquariums are harder to maintain. Plus, more powerful lighting is needed to illuminate the bottom. As for the size of the aquarium in general, go for "a little bigger than you can afford."
Aaron6112
The beginning of the topic about my corner aquarium.
Amy5070
Let's start with the fact that 50 kg of stone is planned, which is about 200-300 liters. And what about sand? If there is no money for stone, will you be able to buy a good foam? But that will also cost around 200-300 dollars.
The height directly depends on your budget (the cost of glass, which is 15-19 mm!, lighting). Judging by point 6, you don't seem to understand anything.
I always ask my clients how much they are willing to start with for the sea and how much they are ready to increase it and in what timeframe. This is the MAIN thing you need to determine at this stage!!!
To invest this amount correctly! And not to end up selling unnecessary items that were bought cheaply at the time.
John5528
Yes, I forgot, reread the forum, it can be useful sometimes!
Matthew7977
sand, I wrote that it's planned to be live.. I won't save on it.
a good skimmer costs 400 to 500 USD ) but that's a skimmer... you set it up and forget it...(in many ways)
about 100-120 kg of rocks is approximately 3500-4000 USD, don't you think they are different categories?)
point 6 is about the filter, I've made a decision... what's wrong with it?
thank you for the comment)
the glass is 15 mm, not 19... the aquarium has been calculated in all options (sizes)
Mary
Oh... I might end up with a ton, everything will eventually end up in the fridge, which I need to take...
By the way, about the light, can you give me some advice? Should I make the lid with a luminaire and then take everything apart, or is it illogical to make pendant lamps with metal halide right away? One craftsman told me to put metal halide in the lid... I immediately imagined boiling fish...
Bonnie
OMG. Thank you for such a clear answer.
1. About the exchange resin. I actually wanted to install reverse osmosis, I’ve already laid the pipes... should it go there too?)
2. I would order from A... need to think about it)
3. What's wrong with the panoramic one? I mean, will it work like a convex lens? Not pretty? I might redraw it... it just seems to me that the corner and panoramic look bigger than the rectangular one... and there’s an angle... and all the plumbing goes there...
I will make a drawing. I’ll post it here.)
P.S.: What kind of drawing won’t get me hit with slippers? Can I indicate lengths/heights in a three-coordinate system?
Nicholas2252
Thank you for the response) I plan to start with just a little... an anemone + clownfish, a rostat to feed the anemone, and a couple of cute, undemanding fish... only soft corals... but then we'll see how it goes.
Jesse
Provide a schematic drawing to clarify at least the thickness of the aquarium walls around the perimeter. And think about this as well... I understand that you plan to make the aquarium out of acrylic... hmmm... I'm not categorically against this material, but it does impose some additional limitations. You will have to conduct regular cleaning of the glass very often. Silicate glass can be cleaned with a metal scraper, unlike acrylic. For example, sea urchins are also not the best inhabitants for an acrylic aquarium—they can gnaw at the glass.
Loretta5483
1. The resin after osmosis... there too... 3. It distorts a bit, just my opinion, I wouldn't do it... p.s. no one will get stuck over any drawing...
Robert1845
Yes, there is a lot of work, and I think you shouldn't rush to plant the anemone in the young, fresh aquarium. Let your tank mature; there are many soft corals to start with, and more will come later. As I understand, the aquarium is quite decent in volume. Good luck to you, just don't rush things and think everything through in advance. Weigh the pros and cons.
Susan1358
Damn)) I was here waging such battles over online shopping...
The drawing will be... tomorrow or the day after at work I'll draw it...
If anyone can recommend a set of equipment for their "..." - I would be happy)...
2, "if for starters a lot of soft ones" - I'm so confused about whether to plant or not?
I'm afraid my aquarium will be sitting with just live rocks for two months...
Thank you for the good luck)
Brian7092
Light - ATI, pen - if you can - Bubble Masters (you probably won't find anything better), you can use Octopuses - they work for your money, but the sound!!! You've decided on the stone. Your eyes will hurt from the semi-circular glass. Salt - Tropic Marin, Sand - Caribbean Sea. You can add a halogen later - Reef Lux (maybe something better will come up).
Don't rush with the corals. Get soft ones, different types, an anemone - Macrodactyla. Ocellaris, chrysiptera, a little wrasse, then a dog. Definitely get tigershrimp! Yellow zebras.
The rest will be in the process.
Jasmine
In this particular case, I vote for DIY lighting... I can't think of a better solution for a corner aquarium... I don't know... maybe someone will have an eureka moment, but I think it's reasonable to take their solution as a basis with adjustments in details (power and geometry).
Rick
It's actually very good if you have a couple of months for a freshly salted aquarium with live sand and live rocks to mature. I think you will fill it with living creatures sooner, and you won't be able to wait for two months; it's just too exciting.
Have you considered reaching out to the sailors in your city, Donetsk? You have enough specialists there, and they are often active on the forum. Message them privately, and I think that would be the best option. You will see everything with your own eyes, and they will help you on-site better than any forum (and I assure you, without any ulterior motives). I would do the same. Best regards.
George5104
This is how a person comes to the Forum to compare different offers. In many cases, it is not necessary to pay the first suggested amount. The internet helps a lot, and this account is no exception.
So why is this forum needed if there are offers for just 107 bucks?
No one here is looking for a free sea; a person, a lady, is asking for help in choosing equipment.
From where does the conclusion come that "I want a free marine aquarium!"?
Nancy
If you want to order a marine aquarium from specialists, fully equipped with installation and setup, it cannot be cheap. To make it cheaper, you need to do as much as possible by yourself and get involved in all the details. People will certainly help with advice, but you also need to put in the effort yourself. Understanding won't come from advice alone.
Christopher1252
I don't argue. It seems that I am simultaneously reading advice and gathering information. Unfortunately, there aren't many books, and so far I haven't found anything better than "Rifovy Aquarium" by Ivanov-Savchuk.
Stephanie4990
By the questions a person asks, one can determine how much they read, whether they read the forum or not. If this forum is not enough, there are others.
Brandy
I'm already there) and on akva.ru too)
John3335
This exists because there are no widely known clear standards for building a marine aquarium. Or they exist, but no one knows about them.
Gabrielle5053
Unfortunately, there is nothing to conclude yet. Thanks to the three people who wrote something meaningful. I'm currently making notes like a schoolgirl. The rest... there have already been two battles, the first on the second page, in the second battle I was accused of wanting "freebies." I still love forums. It's live communication, after all.
Thank you for the response... I'm going to look for some light.
Kimberly
Which one is it? As I understand, there won't be a DSB, so what's the point of having a live one?
Robert
The one that covers the bottom, the one that is called living because it represents a microsystem for the life of various small hydrobionts, worms, and other creatures... Which, together with other inhabitants of the living rocks, will create their own biosystem... No?
Antonio
Ask a question about the light there. I have a lamp from A, no problem.
Jonathan6173
I think his prices are among the best in the city. I still don't understand why you need 15mm glass. For a height of 70 cm, 12mm is more than enough. The main thing is to glue the braces smartly, and that's it. Take the foam from A. Actually, for your request, Grotek, which is lying around at Balexa, will be enough. Contact him privately - I think he will sell it to you for a good price. You can choose the light, of course. You can get it from A, from Doctor Fish, or even bring it from eBay. The stones were supposedly with Alekhin. Get regular sand from A. Order fish and corals on the forum from someone. There are plenty of offers.
And regarding the price, if you want to spend less than 50,000, it's better not to start.
Eric
I wouldn't make a thick layer of sand—it will take a long time to mature, 1-2 cm is enough. As for the stones, they need to be placed once!!! So decide on the quantity and arrangement of the stones right away!!! When adding a new batch of stones to a matured system, problems with unwanted growths will arise!
Michelle1662
Thank you all so much. The height will be a maximum of 60. In general, I will finish drawing it now and post it for the public to see.
Stephen5857
Is this...? Yanovsky is...? I tried to... I can't find the store...)) Ulyanova next to the former Shakhter - something unclear to me...
Brandon9634
Don't make convex glass, I'm far from the first to advise you this, it distorts terribly, it's hard to look at, and why do we set up aquariums - to enjoy the view!
Katie3017
Well, since Pogromsky has been found))) it's a sin not to find him. On Maria, there's a pet store opposite the cafe Dobry Shubin. 333-71-75 SASHA
Jacqueline6670
On the other hand, a corner aquarium with flat glass doesn't look very good. A curved one is probably better here.
Melinda
Only the corner one fits... and the glass... it won't be a lens... it will be slightly curved... not like the store ones where they make a ball from a triangle...
Is it really that terrible?
Phyllis
Thank you for your valuable input. I've already posted the drawing. Well, the start is indeed standard... what happens next depends on how everything unfolds... maybe the clowns will die a brave death, I'll plant a 15 cm wing and feed it guppies (oh no, I can already imagine it).
Unfortunately, everything is done under the corner... I could change it to rectangular, but is a corner really that bad?
As for the equipment... I'm compiling a list.
Keith7534
If one of the corners is very sharp, there will be an hard-to-reach area, and the glass will be difficult to clean. If you really want a corner, you can consider this option as well.
Barbara
Here is the drawing...
Debra
I have already seen it and suggested another option in my previous post.
Derek7322
I confirm - the most beautiful aquarium. Lesha is a modest guy and never posts photos.
Brent5588
Nadya, it's terrible! Our aquarium is at an angle, it's hard to look at, I felt nauseous at first... there's a small belly in the aquarium. Be sure to see it in person, the convex sea...
And what if we make one like Denis's, but in the wrong shape? Or one like the one suggested, I think it's even better!
Lynn4242
They are all wrong - only the rectangular one is correct.
Michelle1662
This phrase should not be taken literally... The more you see the aquarium in person, the easier it will be to form your own stable opinion... I can lend the aquarium for an indefinite period for free... P.S. The aquarium is in good working condition, in excellent shape, like this:
Amanda5586
The correct shape is angular, I think we understand each other, Denis.
Laura7633
Yes, we understand. Denis's corals are amazing, but the design in such aquariums is always the same - a slope from the far corner to the front wall, and almost no options. I prefer the corner cube; there are more options for creativity, plus you can view it from two sides.
Chris
Comrades... I really have nowhere to put the rectangle... it should be in the corner... (( What to do... I went to draw and think of options...
Breanna9982
Well... I will definitely take the pen right away... I'm just still deciding... How much will you sell yours for? According to my calculations, I have 700 liters... it can go up to 1000... it should be able to handle it... Where do you live?
Anne
I started thinking about the substrate and live rocks. With live rocks, it's simple - the more, the better... that's clear. Regarding sand - can it be mixed? For example, can I mix regular sand with 20 kg of Caribbean sand? Or is it pointless? If a layer of 3-4 cm is needed... how do I calculate the amount of sand?
Rick
not better - many J.K. (live rocks). you won't create a proper current for yourself - it will start to emit over time. Take about 70 kg - don't take more. Alekhin had stones for cheap - take them. Just lay them out in a terrace - you might want to plant SPS later. For your volume - 50 kg of dry sand. No live sand. Spend any extra money on lighting.
Jacqueline5976
Multiply the length of the aquarium by the width and the thickness of the layer of sand in decimeters to get the volume in liters. There are probably about one and a half kilograms in a liter or so, depending on the type of sand.
Melanie
That's the thing... the economy in Donetsk is like this... 35 UAH per kg of live stones... or 25 UAH per kg of live stones... or up to 20 UAH per kg of live stones if ordered from Kyiv, but there's a question about delivery. I don't know how much dry sand costs... for now) live sand is 40 UAH for 10 kg... that is, 32 UAH per kg... Caribbean Sea + delivery 30 UAH/kg... so 50 kg of live sand is only 1500 UAH... I went to look for the price of dead sand.
Thomas1044
Live sand is not available, only fine coral rubble in 5 kg bags, and live rocks are always in stock. Delivery through "Avtolux."
Kendra2262
Based on what you suggested, I will do it... although it will still be angular, I looked at many angular ones... I liked it. I didn't feel dizzy. Tomorrow I will approve it.
Alexandra
What do you mean by the definition of a filter? The less the deflection of the windshield, the better.
Tanya
a container with a chemically inert material through which water passes... this is a mechanical filter, which, as I understand, is particularly necessary after starting the aquarium... since it removes, among other things, microorganisms that corals feed on.
and a container with bacteria (for example, a nitrogen source is placed on the same chemically inert material...) through which water passes - this is a biofilter...
that's what I'm asking about.
Brandon9634
Some use mechanical filtration, while others do not. Biochemical filters are currently out of fashion, and the use of biofilters is considered an outdated method. However, this does not mean that there is no biofiltration at all; it occurs in rocks and sand.
Michelle1662
Where did you acquire such "fundamental" knowledge????
Brooke
and another author "Riff Aquarium" ...
Steven7574
Savchukovich is the second author. The first author's name and patronymic is Valerievich. On page 61, there is complete information on biological filtration. I recommend reading it several times. Maybe then you will understand what a biofilter is in general, and biological filtration in particular.
Jasmine
Thank you... I quoted page 63 about charging the biofilter using method two: with nitrogen (that is, a piece of squid-fish). But for some reason, you ironically categorized my post as "fundamental" knowledge...
By the way, the book also discusses mechanical filtration...
Rodney
To name correctly means to understand correctly. And you, highly respected, seem to have "something like Fedot, but not quite that one." Therefore, I urge you once again: read, understand, and then express yourself correctly.
Maria6659
About China in previous posts and further, by China I mean not "made in China" on the box but quality in China (for little money)... since the tuning produced in China will still cost 400 USD... that's it, just anticipating the comments...
Michelle13
The cover option is not the best. Immediately, I think of condensation, coolers, temperature, and then the inevitable end - short circuit, fire, etc. In my opinion, a suspended option is the best recommendation. The aquarium is simply enclosed around the perimeter with movable panels, and the light fixture with a set of appropriate lamps is suspended from the ceiling. The service area is 30 cm.
Teresa
I'm writing - you can't go to the ceiling... unfortunately...
About the panels - I didn't quite understand... what are the panels made of and why?
Ricky9405
Here is the coralia I mentioned, they complained that the 3000 volt controller costs... here it is included in the price... two units of that power for 800 liters - is that just right?
Denise
Who did you order the aquarium from?
Yolanda
, Victor... they actually haven't received the 12mm yet.
Laurie3842
It's strange. I think we should hurry up. It usually takes him 5 days for the assembly. During that time, the cabinet is being prepared. In general, it would be a shame for you not to be ready by New Year.)))
Shelby3182
Yes, he might be able to glue it in 5 days... but there’s nothing to glue it with yet. I called today, five times, and they reminded me again that they will call when the glass arrives... And I can’t order the cabinet until there’s metal, because they won’t give me the templates, and there won’t be metal until the aquarium is glued...)) In general, it’s complicated)
Joseph591
12 mm has been delivered. Bring the prepayment tomorrow - everything will be done quickly. If you need anything, feel free to reach out. ))))
Leslie
"I'm not a magician - I'm just learning" ?)) I'll take it tomorrow)
Destiny
When installing fans in the lid for air intake and exhaust, there will be no condensation and no short circuits either. However, the fish may splash on the lamps, but this can also be resolved. A person has an aquarium with a sealed top and fans. He has no complaints about the lighting. There have been no short circuits in a year, and no corrosion is observed. So, a lid can be used, but it needs to be thought out how it should look.
Amy5070
To be honest, I don't understand the purpose of the panels... if the aquarium is open - a polished edge + sandblasting 7(10?) cm to prevent water edges and ribs...
Andrew7823
Two years ago, in our city, at a rather serious factory, the cooler short-circuited despite the absence of condensate. The security guard didn't hesitate and extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. Why the protection didn't work is a separate question. The damage was significant, but it could have been much worse. There are countless theories about what happened, but the reality is much simpler—water is a great electrolyte, so even if the threat seems ghostly, we need to do everything to eliminate it. In the end, Nadia will do everything as she decides, but still, and still...
John3142
Nadia, if the panels are installed at the level of the lower part of the fixture, they will protect your eyesight, and not only yours, from MG, T5, etc., even despite the indirect action of the light.
Shawn
Yeah... I messed up and thought the panels were on the aquarium... 0_o I'm afraid there will be no one to install them on the light... since I'm either going to get an Aquamatic or a Loginov... and it will definitely be suspended since there are no other options, no matter how you look at it.
I ordered the aquarium ) Hooray.
Kevin8087
Warn Viktor that if you see scratches on the glass, they will have to redo it. Sometimes his gluers are not very careful with the glass. Ask them to stick the background right away. Good luck.
Joseph8842
I don't think there will be any problems with the glass or crooked gluing) I clearly explained the criteria that the aquarium must meet... The only thing is, the deadlines are just killing me(
Rick
There won't be any problems, which is good. But my 15 years of experience communicating and placing orders with this company tells a different story. Sometimes there are instances of not very high-quality order fulfillment. If the deadlines are tight and you haven't paid yet, I can give you the phone number of other guys (although they might be a bit more expensive, but they specialize in marine aquariums).
Helen
Can you introduce yourself so we know who Pogromsky has been collaborating with for 15 years?
Amber1273
Should I write my first name, last name, and patronymic? If you have questions, please message me privately. For your information, I have an aquarium that Vitya made; the glass was ordered at 10 mm, but I still don't understand how the bottom turned out to be 8 mm, and the edges are polished not around the perimeter but on three sides and one side? Vitya is a good guy, but you need to keep an eye on his workers.
Debra6575
But what, can't a lamp on stands do?
Alexander
Oh, I reread the thread and the desire to "raise" it somewhere has disappeared. Nevertheless, on Monday we will be pouring it out.
Debra
Don't disappear, everyone is very interested. Tell us what kind of aquarium you got (shape, quality), what equipment you have purchased so far?
Veronica
Sure, Nadia, don't disappear, we miss you without you...
Karen
Is this a veiled sarcasm? Because you were chasing me for not knowing the material so much that I still remember it.
Kenneth7331
Okay, I should probably move to the topic "my existing aquarium," and that's where I'll start writing.
Raven7170
God forbid, no sarcasm!... It's just that the one who starts suffering from "seasickness," always among us sailors, is in the "spotlight." After the technical part, other questions will follow, and I take the liberty to speak for all sailors that help from our side will not be long in coming...
