First, you need to at least roughly determine what animals you are planning to buy. I think the moon lamp can wait for now. Write a list of the creatures you plan to inhabit it with, and what equipment will be there?

Hunter1471

Since I lack practical experience in creating a sea/reef, I want to start with relatively simple creatures. I am not planning on hard corals for now. A pair of clownfish, a sea urchin, a couple of shrimp, anemones, soft corals. Although this question is off-topic for the thread, I would appreciate any advice on stocking.

Take the BLV 14000 or 20000K lamp, they have proven to be very good. You can get them from Sasha in Odessa or from the company Elektrosila; I ordered all the lighting components from them. Since the branded fixture itself is very expensive. You can also use T5 JBL lamps, which will produce less excess heat and shine twice as well as regular T5s; they are available in Kyiv. How can I contact the company Elektrosila? In which city is it located?

Stephanie3084

Odessa 80482375122 Lamp number 150 watts 20000K according to catalog 221901. Tell them this number - they will find it faster and understand what it's about. They send it via courier services after full prepayment. I have worked with them multiple times. No complaints.

They send the cargo by night express or inline. The lamp itself costs 14,000 K, which is 47.8 euros plus VAT. 20,000 K costs 48.9 euros plus VAT. But to start, you need T5 now; you can install MH later. Just if you install MH, lower algae will start to grow; it is installed when the aquarium has been running for about 3-4 months.

By the way, gentlemen, how many and what T5s do I need considering my aquarium? And can you tell me where to buy a decent electronic ballast for T5, because everywhere they sell Chinese ones. China and electronic ballasts are not compatible concepts.

Jessica5348

I got the electronic ballast from Elektrosila; their German Vossloh-Schwabe will cost you around 14 to 17 euros plus VAT for one piece. As for T5, I would recommend JBL, which is about 100 grams each if you have the money, and if not, then Aquamedic in Arovana is around 40, I think.

EPRA is available in Vemas (they say, German).

Ira, where is that?

Monica

In my opinion, there is no such thing as too much light; the only thing I disagree with is the "moonlight." If they start using some corals to emit sperm for reproduction, it could lead to a catastrophe from organics. Install two T5-T8 actinic 20000K lamps and one 10000K lamp, and then you'll see. Also, get the T8 Selvania; it's great and not expensive. Just don't buy the Chinese ones, which are complete garbage; they last about 2 months! And since the aquarium is not large, you should raise the MH light higher because there will be noticeable temperature fluctuations!

So if you make an aquarium with anemones and soft corals, kalkwasser is not necessary?

James1625

Correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still don't have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only good salt!!!!!!!
