I bought one like this.
I have a question:
There are small bubbles coming out of the pen. How can I get rid of them?
I adjusted the air supply from minimum to maximum. In the office, they reassured me that this would pass over time, but I didn't understand the mechanism of why this would happen.

place the sponge at the exit
Thomas
There is something like a groove there; if you put a piece of synthetic padding, the water overflows.
Derek7322
Then adjust it correctly. Open the air valve more.
Rebecca
So, no need for synthetic padding, use a coarse-pored sponge, the synthetic padding will get clogged quickly.

When the air valve is opened, the water flow decreases significantly, and the small bubbles do not disappear.
I will try to glue a plate on top so that it forms a rectangular tube instead of a groove, into which I will place a sponge or synthetic padding. What is the best way to remove these nasty bubbles?
Bryan1851
I glued the record in, put in the synthetic padding, then switched to a sponge, but I didn't notice a significant effect. Literally a few days later, the number of bubbles decreased significantly, and at the moment there are almost none without the sponge and synthetic padding. I didn't adjust the air valve; I left it in a position where, when slightly opened, a small air layer forms in the pipe supplying water to the column (I apologize for the imprecise wording and names).

It needs to be adjusted so that the water level is at the very bottom of the foam collector tube.

I checked the pump of the foam gun today and found that the metal shaft was crooked. I straightened it a bit, and the foam gun started working quieter. The same issue with the pump - after fixing it, it's practically silent.

Is there a question? What is more effective for bubble formation in a foam generator and its operation - air supply in a pump or a Venturi injector? How much quieter and more efficient does the foam generator work with a Venturi? I would be glad to hear all opinions on this matter.
Natasha
It will be more effective to supply air through a pump + rotor "brush," in this case, the air is broken up and mixed with water, and more bubbles enter the foam separation column, and they are smaller than if the venturi is placed behind the pump.
Robert
I can imagine what a "brush" is, but if possible, could you provide a photo, drawing, or link to show what it looks like, please?
Jennifer5371
It was here, I will look for it and post it.

Maybe someone can tell me what this "brush" is made of? Is it soft or hard?
Tracy
There is also such an option, but it seems to me that this design is not durable. There is another option with a plastic propeller rotor, but the blades are like a brush comb. They are used in Aquamedic foam separators.
April3499
Now we need to return the rotor-comb; it might be even better.
Natalie
You can certainly try, but the "comb" was designed to reduce the size of the bubbles and increase their quantity. In this foam generator, there is already a Venturi injector at the entrance, and I expected that the blades would further break down the bubbles, similar to a mixer.
P.S. There is something like a Venturi at the entrance.

I have the same one, just an Atman. I'm curious how the comb will help. The pen is working great, just noisy; maybe it will be better with the comb, but for now, I don't want to damage the rotor.
Debra8438
With the "comb," the noise did not decrease; it became quieter after I aligned the metal shaft on the rotor and placed a few pieces of synthetic padding where the foam touches the aquarium (I didn't have any rubber on hand).
April3499
My pen is noisy because the blades are breaking the air, and the head is positioned right in the air, so the noise is quite significant; it seems like your head is underwater.
Curtis
There is still so much hassle with the $200 pen. It seems like decent money, but everywhere you look, there are just complaints about it on Seaklon. Sometimes it doesn't pen, sometimes it bubbles, and sometimes something else.
I also once got one for myself; it lasted me two days, and then I returned it.

In general, only Deltec works well, and I saw Weipro 2013, 2014 working decently. Or homemade ones. But the brand costs a fortune; it's a shame to pay so much for a piece of plastic with a pump.
Tracy4603
It certainly looks like a piece of plastic, I agree... but the main thing is the result; design is not needed here. I have a Deltec 600 that has been running for a month now, and I can't get enough of it. All other protein skimmers are just nonsense, including DIY ones. There's really nothing to adjust, just the cup regulation and that's it. I started producing foam within the first hours after purchase, and every 2-3 days I empty a cup full of black, dirt-colored liquid.
Considering I have a 300-liter tank (1 large Actinia, 10 fish, 5 shrimp, 3 hermit crabs, 5 cm plus colonies of Zoanthus and Discoactinia), there are few rocks, and the aquarium is quite overloaded, the skimmer handles everything 100%.

Hello EVERYONE!!!! Well, I also agree that if you pay $200-300, this penny should not only work but also sing songs, and not create any problems with upgrades. We are paying for the calculations and everything that comes with it, like faucets, pumps, etc.!!!!!! Otherwise, do what I did: make whatever you like, in any shape and performance, and experiment without spending such a huge amount of money!!!!!!!!
Frederick
The pump has been working quietly for the second month. It produced a lot of foam during the first three weeks, and I had to empty it every day. Then the amount of liquid in the cup decreased, as I understand it, due to the water that I was able to expel.
Daniel
Where did you order Deltek?
