• What are overgrowths and how to get rid of them?

I introduced such growths in the aquarium, like green slime, which can be blown away with pumps, but then it grows back even faster and stronger, making it not so easy to blow away. No fish eat it. It starts growing specifically on the plates of the sponges, then moves on to live rocks.

They are beautiful. I had something like that on one stone - when they detach, they fly off like flakes (little plates), right? I had them on one stone - the hepatus and spinorog showed interest. And somehow, one night, they completely disappeared...

We had such ones in three aquariums. In all three, I added current and blew out stagnant areas. In the coral rack, there was a lot - it has all gone. In the 1000L tank, I also started adding food and FM chemicals. There wasn't much, and now there's practically none, although I thought feeding would worsen the condition. In the 700L tank, I'm still waiting for results.

I have something similar growing in one spot on the sand for probably half a year now. I'm also scratching my head about how to get rid of it...

I am almost 100% sure that this is one of the types of cyanobacteria. Therefore, the control methods should be the same.
