Dear forum members, I can't buy Moment epoxy glue, I came across epoxy putty (contact). Can I use it to attach corals? I am attaching a photo.

Joshua

It's better to use Moment gel for gluing corals; I bought it at Epicenter, and it's always in stock. Epoxy is used to glue stones together, but it shouldn't be used for corals, as it heats up during the reaction and can burn the coral.

Kyle

I have been gluing them for a long time without any problems.

Stuart

I glue the fragments with epoxy, even after the instant gel... the skirt builds up on the epoxy much faster... and it's 100% more reliable.

Brooke

2008, I have been using epoxy for the second year, there is no negative reaction on coral fabric. Use it confidently.

Martha

Are you gluing while wearing gloves? Because there are warnings everywhere that there should be no contact with skin, etc.

Cynthia

I would advise delicate female hands to even dip into the water while wearing gloves, not to mention epoxy.

Curtis

Nadia, it's definitely better with gloves, but sometimes even without gloves... hand cream helps after all these manipulations. Nothing much happens to the skin...

Jacqueline6670

Yes, I'm not worried about the skin... it's just that I have some necrosis of the tissue at the joints of the corals on a couple of them, and I'm wondering if it's related to the glue or not.

Hannah

Off-topic, well yes... it can stop a horse in full gallop... and enter a burning house... can we really be scared by epoxy?

Brenda

Nadia, I only use epoxy glue for frags, everything is great... even when there is some peeling at the bottom of the coral (it happens after pH fluctuations or after transportation), I cover those spots with epoxy and a skirt grows over it... I've never had such problems as you describe!!!!!!

Here is a clear view of one coral. I traveled for a long time, about a day, from Moscow... on the third day, I started to fly around, I fragged it with the help of epoxy, it's very well visible in the photo. As of today, the skirt is already growing on the main column.

What spell should be cast to ensure that this epoxy adheres to the stone firmly on the first try? It seems like I clean the stone's surface with a brush and press it well, but often the whole structure comes off after 2-3 days.

When it comes to construction, it really doesn't always fit; in such cases, I use cement glue, but you also need to get the hang of it... turning off the flow, etc. Above, I described specifically the gluing of the frags... and since they are not large, there are no problems.

Just the frags, or rather the pyramids at their base, do not stick to the J.K. (living stones). There were no such problems with Zyuht's cement. It's just that this cement was unavailable for a long time, and out of desperation, I started using epoxy.

In the fourth photo, the green acra on the right looks great. Is the clavularia somehow related to the SPS? Doesn't it feel oppressive?

Christina9947

Offtopic, in the evening it's green, and during the day it's salad-colored, but it's cool, I won't spoil it. The little blue flowers on the logo are called cornularia. So far, I haven't noticed any problems.
