In this budget, you can either get an entry-level DSLR like the Canon EOS 1000D, Nikon D3000, or Sony A290L, or a used model of a higher level, if there is no prejudice against such products. It is quite possible to get a Canon 40D, but the lens will exceed the budget.
Marie5348
For an aquarium, it's best to get a DSLR, as you can manually focus instead of using autofocus. I would currently choose the NIKON D3100; consider this option. The CANON EOS 1000 will be much worse than it, as it's an old model from CANON and it doesn't even shoot video.
Jeffery7866
If a DSLR is too bulky, you can also consider hybrids like the Samsung NX100, Samsung NX10, etc. Even here, the photos were quite good.
As for the DSLR, be prepared to spend at least the same amount again later as you did at the start. Although similar options are also possible with hybrids.
Jason5071
whale kit canon eos 350-450 etc... new. or buy a slightly used 50d.
Michael
Canon EOS 350-450 can only be purchased used. The current models in this line are 550 and 600.
Laurie3842
Good equipment. Just don't take the whale kit. It's better to buy the lens separately, and even better to buy two lenses: a macro and a panoramic one.
Michelle
And the flash, and the filters, and... Did you forget about the budget of 600 units? Buying used equipment without being an expert can lead to a bad experience.
Karen81
Find the Paparazzi store in Odessa. They sell new items and also have a consignment section.
Diana7891
SANYA, look here.
Frank7213
From budget DSLRs, I would choose something from these... then when I have extra money, I could buy lenses...
1.
2.
- macro lens, the price would be approximately 625 USD.
Kimberly2102
Exactly!!!! I've heard about them - I need to go there first - maybe I can sell my Canon for at least 100 - it wasn't cheap... it was... four years ago.
Christopher4125
I would like to clarify what the frame rate is for video recording? Is it 25-30 or 50-60? I didn't see this number in the description at the link.
Lindsay
you don't have to go
Charles894
Sanya, you're just like always.
The video on the camera doesn't really bother me at all - for video, there are video cameras - that's how I see it.
Andrew4194
It's not me, it's Google. I wrote the name of the ray, I searched - there are a lot of useful things on their website, so it might be useful for me too. Off-topic: my 6 MP Nikon compact camera is definitely not enough for underwater photos, but at least it takes decent pictures of me.
Alexander
Video recording Size/frame rate: 1920 × 1080, 24 fps; 1280 × 720, 30 fps
Robert800
It's not worth buying from photo flea markets, as in most cases you'll get defective items. You should either buy from acquaintances or from professional photographers.
Sheila1322
To each their own, but I really like how my camera shoots video, and I basically don't need a camcorder anymore.
Andrew4194
Well, if you don't need the video, then you can take this one instead.
April3499
... or the price is inflated "... what do you want, I bought it for ... four years ago."
Lynn4242
Try to pay attention to the SEA&SEA 2G, which is based on the RICOH GX 200. It's a good camera, compact (convenient for travel), and very functional. The old 1G model served me faithfully for three years, and now I have the 2G. I tested it underwater in Thailand and am very satisfied. It has macro capabilities from 1 cm, and there's super macro as well. Here are a few photos.
Dana4701
I got a Nikon D5000 and I don't regret it. I bought a 4x macro ring and a tripod. It's not the best, but it's much better than before, and I'm taking photos and videos. I still need to study it properly. I'm satisfied. The tilting viewfinder is very helpful when shooting in an aquarium. I would have bought more, but the budget was the same.
Vincent
Guys!!! At Paparazzi, there is a Canon EOS 1000D kit 18-55 for 3000.00. Interested - should we buy it????
Corey3201
It's hard to give advice here, the camera is good, the price seems normal too, it all depends on its condition... God forbid it was water-damaged or sand got inside... it's all about luck here...
Michael
Inspect carefully. If there are signs on the screws that it has been opened, do not take it even if everything seems to be working.
Randall7906
They seem to check it there - like they value the company's reputation and also give 7 days for usage - if anything, they return the money. Our guy was handling the Canon for about 15 minutes, and just a little more and he would have started to take it apart - when we told him that we weren't planning to give it back now and that we wouldn't sell it for 600, the disassembly stopped.
Oh!!! Thanks. - Idea - tomorrow I'll take a magnifying glass with me - any other ideas for checking? Basically, I asked the pawnshop guy to test it since he didn't accept it and it was just brought in yesterday - I should call him back at 6 PM - he promised to conduct crash tests and a thorough inspection.
Lynn4242
Check how many shots the shutter has taken. Raise the mirror, look at the sensor. Check the autofocus - Canon cameras have issues with focusing.
Darrell5975
In the store, I talked about this - the guy said there is a semi-official software that can do it, but it doesn't work properly. Nikонов said it's a standard function.
I don't know how it's done - I need instructions - like how to raise the mirror, etc.
Stephanie4990
Thank you for the support and advice!!!! In short, let someone else buy that Canon - it’s just the body and a lens without stabilization, which is the worst among Canons and which, as they said, is better to change right away. The owner even held back the USB cable - the charge is for 380. Change the lens - or rather, wait for a used one. For 600, someone will sell it - in short, this new Nikon turned out to be the D3100 Kit (18-55mm VR) which costs 5200 new from them - they promised a discount, who knows how much.
Guys - what do you say??? Should I get it???
Joshua8425
I would buy a decent device with my own money; I'm also considering it.
Find out what discount they will offer, and if it's small, you can get an 8-gigabyte memory card as a gift from Rozetka.
Joseph8842
I’m taking it, damn it.
When my wife and I get the "I want" feeling, +/- 30 bucks doesn’t matter anymore, the main thing is to act quickly - before we change our minds - I’m going to take it from Paparazzi tomorrow and immediately take photos of your Ophiura - she’s clever, she changed her dislocation and skillfully cleaned the dirtiest spot between the stones.
Rebecca1419
Come on, Sanya, we're waiting for new photos from your new camera))) In the meantime, read up on the nuances of photographing with a DSLR)))
James1625
I think you won't regret it, although prepare to buy right away (2-3 days for testing and you need to purchase) money for a high-quality UV filter (so you won't regret the lens) and a bag (preferably with enough space for at least one more lens; I got the Cirrus 120, but there are many options), and then just whatever your imagination and budget allow - a flash, a 55-300 lens, a macro lens, a tripod or monopod, a polarizing filter... And you can also make a bunch of accessories by hand if you have the "inspiration and desire."
I bought my D60 at Rozetka with an 8GB card - I'm satisfied.
Joshua448
Buddy - is it expensive??? UV filter??? Maybe tomorrow I'll pretend to be advanced - like, let me show off, give me a UV filter. Bags and stuff will come with time - I don't think we'll be moving around with this camera - our Canon suits us very well, it fits in the pocket of my jeans and the quality of the photos of kebabs is more than enough for us - we're really buying this camera just for the sea - so we don't have to communicate on the forum like deaf-mutes.
Javier5186
Filter from 150, the main thing is that it should be enlightened, the rest is not so important for a wide-angle lens. Don't forget about the diameter. I have one umi UV MC wide yf 18-55, and on the other (55-200) Hoya HMC UV(0). Marumi, in my opinion, warms up, although according to the specifications it shouldn't, but it warms up nicely. And a bag, in my opinion, is needed in any case - you won't store it in a plastic bag, and believe me, a compact camera will mostly rest except for extreme situations and visits.
P.S. These are the thoughts of an amateur who is not too burdened with extra cash; maybe professionals can give better and more correct advice.
Michael826
Canon also has an entry-level model with HD video for the same price (as an option)
Canon EOS 1100D
Laurie3842
I did it!!! Now I’m probably cool. I bought the D3100 Kit (18-55mm VR) - I also got a UV filter as advised, and the guys at the store (there's a crowd there) recommended getting a polarizing filter to reduce glare from the aquarium glass - in general, experienced guys there taught me for about an hour and a half - I’m grateful to them.
I’m sitting here reading the manual and studying the buttons - but I’ve already taken a couple of photos of the anemone - magnificent, I’m thrilled!!!! Thank you guys for being part of my camera - now I’ll flood you with photos.
In total, everything came to 5680.00.
Can I ask you experienced ones questions about photography here??? I see you’re into it.
Jesse3979
Congratulations!!! I'm glad you're happy with your purchase, looking forward to new photos!!! Feel free to ask any questions, we'll help as much as we can, it's a pleasure to assist a good person!!!

And now, in addition to practice, browse through photo books, for example, the series by Lee Frost.
Let's start with Modern Photography 2003.
For understanding technical aspects with visual examples, good options are:
Chris Wheaton Digital SLR Camera
Lee Frost Photography: Questions and Answers
For macro, Robert Thompson Macro Photography: A Practical Guide for Photographers.
Although there are plenty of books and magazines now, the main thing is practice. However, to achieve photography, you need more than just knowing the technique and theory; I don't have that talent, and I don't push myself. I shoot for my own enjoyment, and that's enough.

What is its minimum distance for macro photography? I have a point-and-shoot Olympus from the late 90s, and it has a minimum of about 5 centimeters. But in automatic mode, it doesn't understand what it should focus on for me in the aquarium.
Nicholas5194
The whale has a 28 cm size, so true macro photography cannot be done with it (cropping from the frame doesn't count). To shoot macro with a DSLR, you need either extension tubes or, ideally, a macro lens. As for focusing, it's easier to do this in manual mode with a compact camera by moving the camera itself rather than adjusting settings. Again, the fact that the lens can capture something from 5 cm is not an advantage but a disadvantage; it's better to be able to shoot 1:1 at least from 20-30 cm so that the subject being photographed doesn't get overly stressed.
Jasmine
We tried everything with our Canon while photographing the sea, but nothing worked out – it was embarrassing to post on the forum. Then my friend came with a Nikon D3000 – click-click-blink-blink, and we got real photos, so we started to think. Plus, my wife has long wanted one and has grown into a DSLR.
Now, here’s a practical question – is a macro lens for aquarium photography practical and relevant??? It seems to me that it’s not very useful. Well, you can still photograph a fish on the glass, but shooting through the water and glass from 60 cm??? Or am I wrong???
Andrew7823
Recently, we discussed whether a macro lens is needed and which one is better for an aquarium.
I think it is necessary. But start without it.
Brian6895
First, you need to decide which camera to choose, Canon or Nikon, and then select a lens. If you're not going to engage in professional photography, a standard zoom lens of about 18-125mm will be quite suitable.
Kimberly3727
I will drip some balm.
Danielle9144
I read a lot of smart articles, so today I'll bring the tripod from the garage and try to take photos of the sea with it.
William
There is a magazine - MyTropicalFish20HR. On page 25, there is an article about how to film an aquarium. Download it from the link -
Shelby3182
It's better to download from the magazine's website.
