I also read and read - did it as I understood - now I'm refining it. I also didn't get an answer to the question posed in that way - you should ask more specifically - for example, "what's the purpose of the first compartment and what height should it be?"

Why do you need this? You have a ready-made system (or a semi-ready one), you have a sump at the back, why do you need an external one? As a last resort, you can slightly improve yours if you are not satisfied with it, although the only thing that might not be satisfactory is the work of the skimmer; otherwise, the aquarium is quite normal.

The sump is an auxiliary container for equipment, so calculate what you want to take out of the main aquarium into the sump and based on that, calculate the sump.

Why I need this:
1. In this aquarium, it is not possible to make a sump like in Resun 500 (the back wall of the main tank is not black but slightly tinted, and there is no film applied).
2. I want to create a planted tank because the lower organisms are attacking seriously again.
3. It is practically impossible to properly install a bag of carbon, such as Chemi-Pure (the water level in the rear compartment changes immediately).
4. Looking ahead to another skimmer.

it's not cheap enough to just break it
you'll need to install an overflow, drill it, or raise the lid; this "niche" can then be completely cut off.
and what if you want to change the aquarium and sell this one later?
look at the logo, there are aquariums with their own sumps, they also do something tricky, but without global fanaticism, i.e., without installing a separate sump.
p.s. I believe it's not justified for this aquarium.

It will be necessary to install an overflow, either by drilling or raising the lid; this "niche" can then be completely cut off. There is already a hole there, I think it's specifically for the overflow. If possible, could you give me an estimate of how much the installation of the sump will cost?
Lee425
I don't know about the installation, but the tank itself is just a simple aquarium divided into (usually) three parts - that's its price - plus pipes and fittings - it won't be expensive if you do it yourself.

and plus the pump...)))
Chris
overflow, aquarium, dividers, return pump and pipes/fittings, all
but where are you going to put it?
there's probably no hole for the overflow, it's not such a small thing

I also created a similar topic once, specifically about a sump for a 1000-liter aquarium. So, I wasn't given any specific information, just "there are many topics!!! READ THEM." No one can explain it properly. So, for me, everything remains a mystery as well... But for such a volume, I still want a sump... And, as I understand it, you can avoid drilling the aquarium itself and just create an overflow through the lid?
Aaron580
For your ton, a sump should have been installed right away, and the overflow for your volume, which will allow pumping through 3-4 tons, will be quite large with pipes about an inch and a half.
The author's aquarium is quite expensive to break, and there is a sump there; it just needs a little modernization - I don't see the point in building another aquarium.
And yes, there are many topics, and the sump is the second aquarium, which is mainly located in the stand and where all the equipment is hidden out of sight - that is its entire purpose. The partitions, the sizes of the compartments, their number - everything is individual, according to preference.
Sarah
I will put the aquarium in the cabinet; there is just enough space for it. If possible, explain what the overflow itself is.
