Gentlemen marine aquarists, please recommend what to read for a beginner "sailor." Preferably something starting from the basics. Thank you all.

In General Questions, there are topics for beginners to read, and among the books, the more recent one is "Rifovy Aquarium." Author: Ov A.V., Savchuk S.I. Publisher: Renata. Year: 2005.

Thank you for the book, I'm already reading it for beginners.

Nick Daykin. "Marine Aquarium." Moscow. "International Relations" 2001.

Yes, Tolik, quite a fresh edition)))

Do you think that since 2001 the principles of operation of the main marine equipment have changed significantly? The content of the main types hasn't changed much either. The book that I suggested reading is worth it, and for a beginner, it's essential (I'm currently using it myself). There aren't many books in this series, and this one is also well written (in my opinion).

Read the works on marine aquaristics by: There is such a person on our forum. He hasn't created a single meaningful topic in the section, hasn't shown his aquarium on the forum (probably doesn't even have one), but instead criticizes and teaches in other people's threads. He probably knows something after all.

are you kidding?

As for novelty, I dare say that the new is just well-forgotten old. Moreover, what question did the topic starter ask? Give the alphabet. Well, as they say, you get what you have... A primer has no expiration date. Once he masters the basics, he will thank N. Deikin. And then he will be able to freely understand the latest tags... P.S. In our country, the situation is a complete mess... so even Stepanov would consider it a blessing.

That's exactly what I asked for, the alphabet, because I don't even know such basic things as the normal pH for the sea. I know many forum members from Dnipro in person, but there are no sailors among them, and lately, I haven't had much free time for real-life communication. However, I do have time to read... Reading the forum is useful when you have a foundation; without a foundation, you can end up on a topic that only confuses you.

That's right! On the forum, 80% is dirt and 20% is truth. I vote for "Rifovy Aquarium" by Ova and Savchuk. Just take this work not as a guide to action, but as an alphabet of marine aquariums. Many aspects of reef aquarium maintenance have indeed changed drastically in recent years, but this work will provide a general understanding of hydrochemistry and biology of maintenance.

I encountered changes in the approach to freshwater aquaristics; what was relevant about 10 years ago is now just a hassle and a waste of time, and sometimes even money.
