In addition to my zebra with a dog, I want to acquire or borrow some herbivorous monster. I have in mind either a hedgehog diadem or a dog, but not from the bicolor series (so they don't end up fighting each other). What do you recommend from what's available on the market? The hedgehog is certainly cheaper, but I'm afraid that at first, it will eat the Carolina, and then it might nibble on the algae... I wouldn't want that... I've heard that rabbits eat plants well, but where can I find one??? In general, I'm ready to hear any practical advice.

Hello! Hare? It was two weeks ago, it's not a problem to bring it...

Michelle1505

I only saw it in a picture and don't know much about it. How does it relate to corals and does it climb on rocks? It looks like a big slug.

Tracy

Volodya! You don't need a hare or a fox, just wait and that's it... everything is great in your aquarium! Don't rush, let the system stabilize.

I communicated with Egis on the logo forum. I think this person has earned some authority. He recommended adding a sea urchin type diadema and then removing it. I'm not against "waiting," but if we can help the system a little this way, there's nothing wrong with that. One zebra and a little dog are not enough for my volume. Although maybe I'm mistaken. For some reason, no one else is sharing their opinions here, yet there are already 76 views.

According to reviews, the best remedy is still the hare. But it's better to wait for maturity or find the reason. And then the hare can be rented out.

Despite all the zero tests and excellent water treatment, it is difficult to find the cause. Most likely, the main reason is the "youth." The age of the subject - the laying of live rocks was on September 28, 2010.

Is that all?... Off-topic: Oh, the guards are getting up early...

My algae-eating fish prefers dry food, mainly eats algae from the back wall and the pump, very rarely from the rocks. I added a globe urchin (it polishes everything clean), a foxface, and a scopus, so at least the rocks started to become visible, otherwise everything was covered in algae - a string and occasionally I added some dino-charcoal - they started to appear, changed the light - same result. There are also some green things on the rocks, but I don't know what they're called (they come occasionally). The aquarium has been set up since around April. The diadem is too big for my aquarium; I don't know how it polishes.

That's right. Miracles do not happen and cannot happen. Everything will settle down on its own. Well, the hare will eat the overgrowth, but it will also pollute the water. The overgrowth will continue to grow anyway... A little time - and that's it! P.S. I agree with you - better a fox. The hare will eat everything, and when the aquarium matures, it will die of hunger. And the appearance of this naked gill is somehow not very appealing (probably a matter of taste). But a fox will look good in that volume.

Volodya, it went a bit faster for me, but I want to remind you that the stone from the old system and the water is somewhere around 200-250 liters as well. It makes sense to wait a little. Everything will be fine!

Jacob7201

Thank you all, we are waiting.

I was a bit late, took a long time to find the photos, they are old, but real and illustrative. To start, I want to say, Imir, that the processes happening in your aquarium are completely normal, and over time, if you don't overdo it, everything will clean itself. I launched my first reef after reading smart books for six months, meaning there were no fish in the aquarium, but it turned out pretty well. However, the attempt to create a technogenic SPS tank without really understanding what and why was a real aquarium that I saw. Nothing will help here.

No one is diligent in anything. I try to listen to sensible advice and pay attention to it. We don't plant anything, we reduced our MG to 6.5 hours, there is a current, I don't put my hands in the water unnecessarily, and I don't turn the TV on loudly at night.

Barbara

I really like the hedgehog globe. It doesn't touch the higher algae, doesn't flip the corals, and polishes the stones to a shine. However, it doesn't eat much. But the fox didn't adapt. For a long time, it ate almost nothing, lost weight, and eventually disappeared.

James4342

I do not recommend the diadem hedgehog. I had this ... rare one. When I brought it, it was 8 cm in diameter, and after 2 months, it grew to 30 cm. When it was climbing, it knocked everything down in its path with its spines. When I cleaned the tank, I pricked myself on it several times; the feeling was very, very unpleasant for a few days. In short, I got tired of it, caught it with a strainer, and took it back to the store. While I was transporting it in a bucket, it shed its spines again and became 8 cm.

Jeffrey2277

Colleagues, what do you use to clean the Carolina? The one that is not on the live rock, but in the background, for example. And if it is on a plastic background, what do you recommend to clean it effectively, carefully, and quickly?

Linda

I personally clean the Carolina on the rear window with a plastic card; it doesn't scratch the glass and removes everything well. I do not recommend using a blade, as it scratches the glass.

Michelle5859

Lesha, I borrowed a scraper from Vitalik. In general, I crossed myself with cleaning now).

Jennifer

Yes, I agree it's a convenient thing, but for glass. As I understood from what he writes (And if it's on a plastic background - what do you recommend to clean it?) Plastic background, and (why did it need to be molded?) So it needs to be done carefully.

sorry, I didn't finish reading
