Ozonator - friend or foe?
Teresa
I studied this direction through the works of Ova-Savchuk, the forum, and Riffcentral... there are a lot of opinions, but almost all boil down to the idea that ozone is good, but... let it stay in someone else's aquarium, and we'll manage without it somehow.
Buying an ozonator is not a problem, and installing it is easy, and there are plenty of different accessories produced for it, but objectively, no one says that, yes, thanks to ozone, I easily cope with my challenges! One can discuss the benefits of ozone, zeolite, and even UV lamps for a long time (many still claim that they are unnecessary), but everyone will remain with their own opinion.

He has such a fragile line between benefit and harm.

I have a homemade low-power one. I don't use it for the reef, but I turn it on occasionally in the fish tank when I introduce newcomers. It's connected to the skimmer. In the quarantine tank, when I add newly arrived fish, I turn it on when there are crypts. It helps. In my opinion, a good UV for a reef aquarium is quite sufficient, and it's safer and more convenient, plus I rarely turn on the UV to avoid harming beneficial microorganisms.
