• Settlement Question 450L.

  • Ryan1989

In general, I'm building a sea from my 450L freshwater aquarium, planning a soft reef... I've set up the osmosis system, and the equipment is being selected by Rey Tkach... he promises to deliver it by Friday... so in two weeks we will be thinking about stocking... can you suggest an easy starter set, for example, 3 clownfish + an anemone, 2 tangs?... I would like something hardy to start with... and what quantity would be suitable for this volume?

Erica

In 2 weeks, I recommend introducing a strombus, an ophiuroid, maybe zoanthids and/or a sarcophyton. It's still too early to buy clownfish or especially anemones.

Monique1236

Thank you very much!

Joseph9057

Ray is 100% right, M.A. needs to mature. Actinia not earlier than in six months, or even more.

Daniel

How long does it take for an aquarium with live rocks to mature before adding the first inhabitants? I've seen some people adding mollies... how much water should I ask Tkach for the biobalance?

Antonio

Instead of asking the Weaver for water, you would be better off reading books on marine aquaristics, and then many questions would resolve themselves!

Rachel

I read about creating a reef aquarium, and there's some nonsense about pH, alkalinity... I just need a quick and easy way to get a sea.

Colin1418

Well, aim for a month, although many don't wait that long. Sometimes animals endure the consequences of our hasty actions. Often, they don't. Don't worry about the livestock for now. Focus on the maturation. Water parameters, algae growth... Post photos. There are knowledgeable "marine aquarium enthusiasts" here who can help.

Michael826

I will do everything gradually, thank you very much for the helpful advice, I am actually already a sailor... they set up the aquarium yesterday, I think my experience in growing discus will help me deal with the water...

Steven7574

Osmosis, DI cartridge (preferably), salt from a well-known manufacturer (better not from China). Live rocks are good, sand (can be dead, but aragonite is better). Light, skimmer, current. That's all for now. P.S. By the way, what equipment is planned?

Brandon9634

Offtopic Without PS, CS will be bam bam and miss.

Phillip9722

I will report on the equipment on Friday))) I took the path of least resistance, I'm not assembling it myself... but I will put a jar up for evaluation...

Joyce

Friday the 23rd has passed, and it's quiet. The 30th Friday is approaching. It's time to post the photos and continue the topic.

Kathleen

Just yesterday, I handed over the cabinet for equipment layout, they promised to return it tomorrow. The delay was due to searching for a side overflow (the cabinet from the press is not very suitable for drilling) and gluing the sump... they didn't find the overflow, so we decided to make a regular well. If I really get the cabinet back tomorrow, I'll take a photo... I haven't given up on the idea of the sea, so I think everything will be salted within a month.

Emily

Offtopic. There is no nonsense there - it went to the abed! Dnevalny for the duty rowdy Akhmet...

Sharon

Good job. But what about the fact that someone is supporting the reflector with their stomach so it doesn't fall? Wait for the salinometer, then the calculations...

Shawn

On both sides, there are brackets, like slides, that go over the edges of the aquarium, especially since the lamp itself fits perfectly on the edges of the aquarium... I was more concerned about the 320W light (2 blue and 2 white), but the seller assured me it would be enough for my purposes (soft coral)... we'll see after the launch... I realized that my stomach really got into the frame, as I was aiming at the label with my super-smart Nikon.

Tracy4603

This aquarium won't have enough cooling; I tried it on a 300-liter one, and they aren't worth the money. It's better to buy regular fans and place them on the side of the aquarium. I have two fans sized 120*120, 12v 3.5w, and they are enough to maintain a temperature of 27 degrees. However, there is an evaporation of about 8 liters per day.

Wesley

Install the 1500 next to it, but not in the cabinet; it's better to place it on the balcony, and there will be no problems with temperature regulation, especially in the summer.

Ricardo7341

I realized that my belly really got into the frame, and what a belly it is - a wealthy owner of an aquarium!

Christine864

Hooray comrades, the launch... yesterday I salted "by eye" 16 kg, today the raid brought stones and sand... we checked the salinity, it's normal... we poured it in, launched it, now we will wait for the precipitation... so far I've only seen a scared goby.

Colin1418

sandstorm

Wesley

but it's better than looking at all sorts of expensive plastic trinkets under the aquarium; the child even thought he got new toys for May holidays... if possible, I kindly ask the moderator to move the second part of the topic to the section "Marine Aquariums of Forum Members" with the title "Bats Bats and the Sea 450L"

Kyle

And on the right, it looks so drearily bland...

Stephen5857

It's really pathetic, there are shrimps - I'm already looking for someone to trade it for beer))) it's hard to watch from the couch... By the way, I'm currently only struggling with one problem - the noise from the sump, which is coming from the side (right), where the auto-refill container is installed... there must be an amplifier there... I will make it really noisy... For some reasons, the continuation of the launch in the diary:

Cindy

I have experienced a certain grief, not with the aquarium (it's actually growing as planned) but with the stand (the front edge has started to sag by about half a centimeter), and I can't calmly look at it. Therefore, I am asking for help with contacts for someone who can make a proper stand from a metal frame. According to the plan, it should be exactly the same height as my particle board (so that the water can drain into the bathtub, probably). I could just move the aquarium to the new stand (the rocks will also have to be removed, but the sand will stay)... so far, I've been given one contact, but they won't be available until the end of next month.

Vincent

You can pry open the existing one: a jack + a properly cut beam or a sufficiently thick bolt with a coupling.

Corey3201

A small wave went across the face, a gap formed where a knife fits... it seems there is no gap at the back, meaning the aquarium is currently resting on the rear brace, on two side braces and two middle ones, with sagging on the right and left up to 0.5 mm... Ray reassured me that everything is fine... but something tells me that it's not really okay. The sagging occurred in the areas highlighted in red...

Jeremy8404

The question is about finding a person capable of such feats to strengthen the pedestal; I will go to our Yunost this weekend, maybe they can help.

Wanda666

It may not be scary for now, but gradually the loads will increase, the shelves have been removed, so the stands are bending a bit (especially since I understood that there is no stand where the amplifier is?). Is there no person for the frames at Rea? Call them (I don't know the price), and any aquarium store will definitely make them to order. Youth - I don't know what that is. Ideally, a 38mm kitchen countertop should have been placed on top - but it's already too late.

John3335

I wouldn't bother either and would just use metal with bolts. It will be a hassle, but at least the headache of disassembly is eliminated.

Laurie3842

Bye-bye and the sea!

Rodney3101

strange comment for the seller I was addressing, but oh well

Mark9853

It's just some kind of fairy tale!!!! There are three well-known people in Kyiv on the forum who make a fortune: Marchenko, Tkach, and the guys from IRIF. I thought about starting a sea, with a budget of around $4,000. Well, maybe it's extra for someone, but I would take it on in my business. But these eagles seem more interested in humiliating and mocking each other than in making money. So here, instead of caring for the client, whom they could still milk for a long time, we see some kind of youthful self-assertion. Very funny. P.S. Instead of a sea, I now have harrazins. Because there's no one to order a sea from.

William

With your 4000 USD, it's VERY difficult for specialists to fit in, let alone make a profit. That's why no one has taken it on. Try to figure everything out yourself - then you might just manage to fit in at first (full set of equipment + livestock).

David4089

your 4000 USD - well, that's really very little, unless it's a mini-nemo!

Steven7574

Well, you guys are something else, it's both funny and ridiculous. Temka is turning into spam, slow down.

Joseph1346

Nooo, the sea starts from 10, I'll tell you... a couple of small fish like ocellaris now costs about 4k, that's why the guys don't want to talk...

Angela

Hmm... there was no question for us (iReef) regarding the sea for 4,000 currency units. Another question is whether it can be done or not... It can be done, but the sea will be small. And this is not related to profit... there are rules by which we advise or create aquariums. And milking is also not in our rules... we don't suffer from that)))

Theresa5149

Don't take it the wrong way, but I think I wanted to remind you of your 7th post out of good intentions. Best regards, M.

Richard

To be honest, it would be much more helpful if you called me back with an answer to my question, and then we could laugh together about all my posts, especially since I'm not a spiteful person and I have a good sense of humor.

Justin

Don't take offense at the comment, but you wanted to do everything quickly!

Jason9952

It would be good to know your phone number and your name, and I will definitely call you back!

Mitchell7972

The millionaires' club, well, 4 pieces is not much... Just right for a start. By the way, in defense of Igor, based on my experience, I can say that among the sellers, he seems to be the most friendly and professional specialist. P.S. But with a sense of humor...

Adam4310

Hooray!!! On Tuesday, the move to the new stand will be carried out by Marchenko and Co... I hope it will actually happen, as it has been postponed due to the company's workload (which is understandable). Finally, we will be able to buy decent softness without worries...

Kellie

probably Marchenkoff and Co

Anne4851

Yes, that's right - chenCoFF... by the way, the hedgehog walks around with your seaweed and, contrary to the rumors, spends all its time cleaning the glass... it is little interested in stones, so the creature is harmless and funny... unlike the sweet couple Fox+Skopas, they would probably eat the stones if they could... This is so the photos don't get lost: hedgehog Fox+Skopas

Leonard

The rest of the algae didn't survive/didn't attach? And is the hedgehog trampling the Carolina?

John3432

Oh, Biokon, there’s a nice algae in the top photo. I would have separated it somewhere and cultivated it, or given it to someone to keep—after all, a haplochromis might come close to it. It’s not easy to find something like that; I’ve never seen it in a hobbyist's aquarium before, and I’ve never encountered it in person. We need to take care of such things...

Rachael

Hello! Is the nightstand already made of metal? Good hedgehog. Off-topic, is this a globe? Who knows how it won't touch strombus and sarka? And in general, how, it's prickly.

Brandy1134

Hedgehog decorator. Good hedgehog...

Amber9312

Off-topic, should I ask him like that? Is he Mespilia globulus? And still, does he not sting strombus, fish, and corals?

Natasha7622

The decorator urchin, Tripneustes gratilla, is sometimes mentioned in guides as "always trying to hide by covering itself with various objects, including discoactinia, zoanthids, etc. This leads to the recommendation against keeping these urchins with corals, limiting them to other species," except for diadems. I had a decorator urchin for about 3 years and never saw it covered with anything, although I believe it can happen. I have long since given up on diadems...

David

Off-topic. What kind of reef-safe are you talking about? I'm looking at a similar little watermelon, but I have doubts about whether it will move the corals and chew on the coralline too much... I want something that crawls on the glass, like (a). But definitely not a diadem! Stas, sorry for going off-topic in your thread.

Timothy

There are pencils on this matter, Heterocentrotus mammilatus beauties, small and large. They are not very good on glass, more on rocks and the bottom. There is also Echinometra lividus, a cool Atlantic sea urchin, and the amazing Echinothrix calamaris, although rare (at least in our backwater), Tripneustes esculentus, fantastically beautiful, with small spines, green Lytechinus wilsi.

Brian6895

I think Tolik in the photo is still Mespilia globulus. Although I think it doesn't matter, with Tripneustes. It eats everything. Corals need to be planted on epoxy, then it's not scary. Tripner)) crawls on the corals but doesn't cause harm. I've had it for 3 years. It eats coralline, so all the glass is clean.

Amber

I moved, there are no photos yet, the losses are minimal (mostly financial)... thank you personally for your participation, everything went at the highest level... although I still couldn't arrange the stones as before, it turned out as it did, once again I listened to comments about my stones... well, never mind, the main thing is that the paranoia has calmed down ) the iron nightstand is still as iron as ever... In the morning, a bunch of planarians crawled out on the glass, no idea where they came from... now I'm looking for a way to deal with them, but at least now I can calmly shape the reef without the fear of flooding six floors.

Kimberly4253

That's an option too... let him eat for his health...

Ricky9405

Congratulations on that, while I was congratulated a long time ago... The methods to fight it include a hose with a bucket, experiments with lemivazol, although only half a tablet was given for more than 800 liters, which had a stunningly "successful" effect—LPS started to lose their hair, the mushrooms were stressed, but it didn't affect her at all. Fortunately, at that moment, I got some help—I took a few things for temporary care while the lemivazol and the replacements gradually left the aquarium.

Brent7831

Planaria? We need to get one of the gobies, it will clean everything up quickly! I think Holichores melanurus will save the situation!

Andrea

I read about mandarins, so find out about the guban as well (this is in response to the question in the DMs) anyway, it's time to replenish the fish)))

Justin

Mandarins should be settled in a mature reef, populated with live rocks. Otherwise, they will die of starvation... They do not respond to artificial feeds.

Alicia5489

And when will it ripen?))) Probably in 3 months, planarians get fat like piglets.

Chris

Igor has already written that planarians are eaten by yellow gobies. Don't rush with the mandarin! Wait another six months. They will thank you later! By the way, the fish is wonderful! Very unique, beautiful, and independent. It doesn't pay attention to anyone in the aquarium, living its own life.

Cindy

On the other hand, unlike freshwater species, no one has determined the harm they cause. Well, except that the aesthetics are a bit off. Try playing with wrasses.

Rachel9060

Damn, what a beauty this tangerine is, well, we'll wait, if it's a lip, then it's a lip... I hope Carolina will finally attack the stones by New Year, otherwise even the hedgehog is hanging on the glass.

Chad9037

I was not writing about the yellow goby (Holocentrus crisus) but rather about something else, although the yellow one also eats planaria!

Todd8452

While there are practically no living creatures in the aquarium, remove the planarians with levamisole. I got rid of this nuisance using it. A 7.5% solution, 5 ml per 250 liters. After about three days of application, you need to change the water; the more, the better.

Alyssa6727

At first, there were a lot of planarians. Now there are practically none. They just disappeared on their own.

Gene1948

Oh, lucky one!

Stacy6866

I thought that the aquarium matures and all the planarians go to another world. But then I saw in a well-established system crowds of planarians - I realized I just got lucky.

Brian7092

Actually, I hadn't seen them before moving to the new stand, but now they've appeared on the glass; probably not everyone sees them until a certain moment... Also, for some reason, the higher algae have started to turn white, and Carolina has disappeared from the back glass... It seems the aquarium is restarting. And I managed to breed Ksyukha; I cut her with scissors, and she has already attached to another stone... A camera will be available soon, and I'll take a photo...

Wendy8540

Don't jump the gun, Max, you'll definitely get the Planaria, the main thing is not to let it progress, it's an unpleasant thing. Off-topic: I can provide some fresh blood.

Robert

You know, mine have scattered somewhere. A friend came over to drink some beer, and he really wanted to see them, but we couldn't find them anywhere. It seems they hid among the rocks... I read that their quantity depends on the light, as they are photosynthetic and can sharply decrease in low light... Well, I have little light, that's a fact. That's the next thing I'll focus on in the near future... By the way, how long should I wait before doing the first water change, and how much? And how often... opinions vary. I haven't done it since the start (May 10).

Lisa

The lack of light doesn't reduce their numbers! I have a planted tank in another room, and there, 15 watts shine on 30 liters of water. And the whole aquarium is full of planarians...

Michelle1662

So... What kind of gop is there? Not today, but tomorrow half of the aqua in the planarians.

Wendy

You can start with substitutions, although you shouldn't get too carried away with them. For starters, at least 20% per month. You also need to start working with ME.

John5528

Between us, I've been pouring vodka for a month now, an aquarium in the dining room, little glasses for myself and a shot for them... just kidding, a 5ml syringe every 5-7 days, the water is murky at first and then crystal clear, I can't believe how the sea tolerates me... I'm shocked myself, and thanks to the kind person for a bunch of this wonderful algae: And thanks from the Fox and from Skopas, and the dog is probably happy too, now I can go on vacation.

Breanna9982

I have long wanted your name in the studio; mine, it seems, is familiar to you. So, be careful with the vodka, oh, be careful. It's a good thing, yes, but what if... you never know. Let's remember the parable about the gun hanging on the wall at the end of the third act...

Keith7534

I know... but damn, I'm a terrible experimenter, I'm still adding iodine... I'm also feeding the fox with tablets for ancistrus with spirulina, if I put it in, I'll definitely write, for now, it's eating it all... the fox only feels bad from the tube worm... and the ocellaris only eat that...

Ashley5975

Well, iodine is manageable, although you still need to be careful to avoid overdosing. But regarding the tuber and tablets. Once, I witnessed Z. Skopas collapse from excessive consumption of spirulina tablets, even though she was taking them excessively. Sooner or later, you'll regret using the tuber for fish; it won't be good for the sea... Get them used to marine Artemia; if they get hungry, they'll take it, they have no other choice. By the way, amphiprions are not afraid of starvation; they endure it quite well...

Angel2396

They might be moving. As soon as I approach the aquarium, they are already at the surface - I'm feeding them with dry food for now, they eat like piglets.

Shane

you did the right thing...

Stephanie4990

I bought a Lisamata shrimp and a Yellow Zebra yesterday, and the shrimp was upside down by morning... the yellow one is still alive but doesn't eat any of the usual foods, it's very thin, and the Skopas won't let it pass... in short, it was an unfortunate purchase... the reason the shrimp died is a mystery, maybe I should have transferred it more slowly?

Sara4035

Everything needs to be translated slowly, not just the fish.

Amber1273

They warned you! Put a mirror near the aquarium so that the fish can fight with itself. That way, it will also stop bothering the yellow one. It's unlikely to help... Maybe it got injured during the move.

Ryan7682

I’d better ask again - is she really dead? Or maybe she just molted? I mean, was she held in someone's hands?

Elizabeth1221

I threw it away, I can still tell the skin from the meat, they shed all the time, and the yellow one seems to have gotten used to it, knock on wood.

Brent8919

My friend, you have the most unfortunate aquarium of all the forum members((( I state this(((

Debra6575

I had a yellow Scopas for about two months, thinking it wouldn't survive. A year has passed, and now they swim together as an inseparable pair.

Kevin8087

The main thing is to fatten up the newcomer quickly; it's worse if he doesn't eat... that's definitely death... because on the first day, the lazy yellow one didn't get fed, even the kulak was singing along with the LO and the ocellaris... but as soon as the yellow one showed its spiked tail a couple of times, everyone immediately started minding their own business... the weak won't survive in the sea, that's for sure.

Mike

It's strange that the shrimp died, very strange... sometimes we have shrimp that lie for several hours without signs of life, apparently they get stressed, and then they adapt... maybe it was alive? Although it would definitely be noticeable if it were alive... strange... we will try to compensate a bit for the loss, we will give a good discount on your next purchase!

Melissa3200

I still want a cleaner shrimp, so please find me something like that in the next shipment... if there’s another type of Lysmata, it doesn’t matter (anything except the boxer). (By the way, at first I thought it was dead... but it was completely intact, lying under a rock on its back, so there’s little doubt about its death... who knows what could have happened, it’s still alive... The yellow one is alive, and for that, I’m grateful)))

Christopher1774

If memory serves, there is one more... I'll message you privately a bit later.

Ronald

Wow, what kind of shrimp is that? Please send a photo, show it off.

Kyle

I bought Lismata and Yellow Zebra at IRIFE, that's what I meant, but I really want to get a shrimp, any kind... However, due to my departure for a week, I won't start anything for now... I already have a complex about leaving after having a meal with discus fish)))

Christopher4108

"Watch your words?!"

Adam4310

Today before work, I barely managed to throw out a bush of berry caulerpa, Sabaka decided to reproduce sexually, apparently she doesn't like the view in the corner, it's quite a sight... from the bush, green paint is coming out like from a rag... I hope she didn't poison anything (: Video 1 to 1 with my case:

Jason5071

Here is that libertine named Caulerpa in my aquarium, who disagreed with his participation in feeding the zebra and the fox, and got into nighttime mischief, which is why the water was milky yesterday and the softness closed up; today everything seems to have normalized. Caulerpa: This is almost all my fish (except for the dog and the lone clown) peacefully eating JBL spirulina (by the way, a wonderful food in the form of leaves): And this is Scopas vs Yellow; Scopas just can't come to terms with Yellow, although he himself takes quite a beating, but there was no blood: And this is Ksyusha from VaMa, she has grown and I already chopped off a piece.

Tracy

I left for the sea for 7 days, nobody fed the aquarium, the light was half on... damn, everything has grown so much... that's what it means not to mess with it, I recommend!

Matthew

These conclusions have been made a long time ago! The less you interfere with the aquarium, the better the inhabitants feel! But sometimes you just can't help yourself...

Shane

Every day they itch to either clean the glass or feed the actinia... the fish get stressed, and hands bring all sorts of junk... in short, the best aquarium belongs to a sailor with short trips... and as it turns out, the fish can find food for a week! I understood that the biggest nightmare is a power outage, and everything else is easy to cope with...

Julie4738

Cleaning the glass is great! Additional feeding for corals in the form of phytoplankton. Plus, there's no need to get your hands wet, there are magnetic scrapers.
