• Help answer a couple of questions!

  • Lisa

I bought a Resun 500/72L. I've wanted a marine corner for a long time. I've gone through various literature, but some questions remain... I ask for help in finding answers! 1) What tests are necessary for the water? (What can be skipped?) 2) How much does a float hydrometer deviate from actual readings? 3) What options are there for filling the aquarium with water if there is no osmosis? Are there other solutions? 4) Is the salt ratio correct - 39 grams/liter?

Here you can find all the answers, not just to a couple of questions.

Here are all the answers, not just to a couple of questions.

Tests are necessary in any case... Ammonium, pH, KH, nitrites. In my opinion, they are the most essential. My hydrometer is JBL and does not deviate from the real values. If you don't have reverse osmosis, you can buy a 20-liter canister and I'll fill it with RO water for you. But it's better to get your own RO system. For starters, it's best to ask someone on the forum for water from an established aquarium. 39 grams per liter is too much... It should be between 31 and 35.

That's cool)))))))))) It won't be profitable for me to travel at all then. I'm in Kharkiv.

Hmm... How long does it take to get there? I'll send it to you by train. Buy osmosis. There are other options, but this one is the cheapest in the end. You can also get water in bottles that have been osmosis purified, but without mineralization.

Bottled water is a good temporary option... the only thing is that you were not advised to test for nitrates, which can be found in such water. This water is delivered to our home with an elevator, 20 bottles of 19 liters. They specifically purify tap water for us; previously, when the water was purified like for everyone else from the well, the nitrates in it were 12.5...

thank you all for your help)

I was getting water for 40. 19 liters. Everything is fine there. You can manage until you buy an osmosis system. With a nano aquarium, you can live off bottles, but it's very inconvenient! Here are more details.

Today I ordered three 19-liter bottles for a total of 174, assuming that the empty bottle costs 30... water is 28, there are also some for 22, but they contain more undesirable substances... I have already filled the aquarium and salted it... we will test the water tomorrow...

Who from Kharkiv can share some live rocks... I'm not talking about a couple of kilograms, just a few small pieces... and a couple of liters of water from a functioning aquarium???
