Help with launching the mini-nemo.
Jacob4800
I recently encountered a lack of information about Kyiv Sea. I hope I will be supplemented (which is unlikely). Three reputable suppliers. One aquarium center. Two. Three - Rey Tkach. It's better for first-time newcomers not to start with 35 liters. Visiting two and three is worth it, and deciding whom to collaborate with seems equally valid to me. I choose based on location. By the way, I have no experience yet, as I am currently the owner of a dry resun. I consider Tetratec EasyCrystal to be the optimal choice for a filter.
Mitchell3177
Oh! Something is becoming clearer. I will be making the starter soon. How should I handle the sand? Should I put it at the bottom and then add water, or the other way around? Is it okay to add live rocks about a week after the starter? I understand that I can buy salt at any decent pet store, right?
Marie5348
water the next day stones the next day or in a week sand
Stacy6866
Got it. So, do we pour sand when the stones are already on the bottom? Sorry for the silly questions—just don't want to mess it up.
Sheila1322
Maybe it's worth making a deal with one supplier and buying everything from them? Especially in Kyiv.
Courtney4094
Salt is sold FAR from everywhere. You have already been informed where it is available:
On AquaLogo, there is a thread by the author of this concept, Lev Mironov, "Mini Nemo," where there are answers to ALL these questions and much more.
A heater should be present, but considering that the lighting will warm the water, a "cooler" is also needed, like a computer cooler.
The launch is described VERY well here:
My launch is here:
Darlene4238
I agree - it's worth it! I just want to buy everything according to my financial capabilities. So, can I just contact these suppliers (Rey Tkach) and buy everything from them? What else do I need to get started:
- Hydrometer
- Sea salt – 1kg
- SaribSI sand – 16kg
- Live rock – 4kg
- Pump
- Protein skimmer Jaba 180 II – is it needed at this stage?
- Tetratec EasyCrystal filter
Joseph8842
I read it. But I didn't understand everything. The energy-saving lamp doesn't get hot, right? I think after the fermentation it will be clear whether I need cooling/heating.
Patricia1746
salt 10 kg
sand 8-10 kg
stone 5-10 kg
jaba 180 II I would like to google it, but it didn't work out, I wouldn't set it.
Joshua
check the freshwater system, why wait for the starter culture. check the lamp for the temperature when it's on, also the pump motors heat up well.
David3217
Oops. The salt is indeed 10kg. I meant to write.
Thomas1044
I'm not very fond of your idea with the light, but you did a decent job. I'm also interested in the dimensions of the aquarium; how does the lid/light look? I would like to see a photo of the patient.
Kevin262
I will take a photo today and everything will be clear...
Recommend a pump.
Jeffery7866
Hydor Koralia nano or 1
John3335
Are Jebo pumps bad? I just have the opportunity to get a Jebo skimmer and pump for half the price. So I'm thinking about it, but price isn't the main thing.
Is one pump enough?
Thomas5021
Here is about the skimmer he chose.
David4968
Aquas like this, but with a lid:
Aquarium with a convex front glass 40x25x34, 32L, TM "Nature"
Will that work?
Daniel4967
Hydor Koralia nano is simply for flow, the frog has no alternatives. The foam should be placed with live rock.
Michele9664
Regarding the alternative, I disagree, for example:
But the size of this frog is still unclear.
In my opinion, the lid should cover both the aquarium and the lid of the foam for aesthetics.
It should have ventilation holes and propellers.
Destiny
I'm talking about Corallia.

Here is the theme for the logo: I think it's a pretty good option, but the person has lost a sense of proportion and I'm afraid they will keep improving it forever. "Seasickness"
Christopher4108
Here, the person only has a pump and that's it. As I understand it, the pump draws water from one side of the aquarium and releases it on the other, thus creating a current? And he doesn't have a skimmer...
Regarding the filter - can't a filter be placed after the pump? The pump takes in water, goes through the filter, and is released in another corner of the aquarium. Is that possible?
Cynthia
Cool... But too much.
Laura7633
At Leo, that's exactly how the synthetic padding is after the pomp in the upper filter. Check out his entire thread on the logo.
Patricia
I'm afraid the person is inattentive and careless, and won't be able to create even a small sea.
We are smoking.
Especially during the fast, question 103 about the placement of coal and aeration is irrelevant.
And the entire topic is clearly explained from the beginning there, including about light.
James5032
I would consider redesigning/replacing the skimmer.
ADDED: I didn't look at the volume right away... 35L? Is a foam maker even necessary?
P.S. Mini things are ungrateful.
Kristin
Well... Everything will happen! And very soon! I'm not inattentive, it's just that my head is filled with work. I apologize if I'm asking stupid questions! I just read on the same forum that they use coal instead of synthetic padding, so I'm curious. As for the air, I understand, I was just thinking there might be some other options. Maybe in some cases, additional air is needed.
Mark9853
sorry.
the dumbest question is the one not asked.
Kimberly
Regular sterilizer or specifically emitter (open)?
Dana4701
Hmm... I didn't quite understand about the physical emitter... I understood everything about the lamps and tests! But I didn't get the part about maintenance... What kind of aliens can there be if the aquarium is without live rock and fish, etc.? Regarding the literature - thank you, I will get some. Tomorrow I will go to the store to consult and take what I need.
Brent7831
Honestly, I don't understand the need for a sterilizer... Just like, for example, the magnesium test...
Guys, why complicate things? Weekly water changes + playing with bacteria (it's not necessary to sterilize everything to zero) + any light with a power supply + a flow pump... It results in a beautiful tabletop aquarium. What's more important is to slowly populate it and not overload it.
Katie3017
Thank you for the information. But why is there an equal sign between holding and keeping? No, I understand when overloaded fishkeepers keep, for example, morays in the ozone... but in a mini-Nemo (as well as in reef aquariums), what's the point? To heat the water? Your instructive tone does not explain this at all. I'm afraid you should modernize your knowledge (for example, buy a contemporary book on aquarium maintenance) - with good water quality, fish do not get sick... and UV reduces biodiversity.
John3187
I see you are very advanced in marine aquaristics and have a lot of experience. You read a lot of modern literature. I would like to see photos of your reef; I think it must be wonderful for a specialist like you. Please share a link, my curiosity is tearing me apart.
Lee425
dear sea wolves
go to the bathhouse
we don't want to argue in the sandbox, we need information, and what is correct I fear you don't know either, so we will filter based on our own mistakes.
regarding holding and quarantine, in our case, trusting suppliers is better, without professional equipment, chemicals, and laboratories, and of course, knowledge and experience, we won't be able to do anything.
and if we don't trust, then we need to go to the ocean and chop stones ourselves.
Ryan
I would be careful with expressions, otherwise you might not get any more answers, as if we all went to wash ourselves.
I hesitate to ask, if you want to learn from your mistakes, what are you doing here?
I kept a mini aquarium and now I can easily start such an aquarium. I give you advice, but you don't listen, that's your right. Good luck with your mistakes.
Antonio
To all the little tortures. Do not torment beginners and do not torment yourselves. There are rules for settling a marine aquarium that must be followed. These rules have been developed by amateurs and specialists based on their own negative and positive experiences. They have published the results in their articles and publications. Where does such disregard come from? Open the book by A. Ova and Savchuk; by the way, there is a computer version. According to your logic, are those "educational" instructions unnecessary for anyone? Do not lead beginners away from the truth. Show your reef, as has already been suggested to you, and we will admire and applaud your ability to increase "biodiversity."
Rachel9060
It is very difficult to talk about something with a person who considers their opinion to be the truth... You appeal to the experience of respected aquarists? Great. For example, read reefcentral.com... This is more than a representative sample, deserving of the closest attention!!! I will read your criticism of the "aquariums of the month" that do not use a sterilizer with admiration and applause. I hope that the authority of this publication should at least change the dogmatic tone of your theses... perhaps reading an imperialist forum will teach you not to resort to personal attacks in the absence of arguments.
Alan273
Enough with the swearing! I was at Sergei's today, and he explained everything to me in great detail. I have two questions:
1. Osmosis. The simplest one I found is -950. It's expensive. What can we come up with that’s cheaper? Maybe buy ready-made water or a simpler filter?
2. A lamp for the reef. What can I put on a 32L tank?
Justin9867
1. Buy water/distillate at the pharmacy, or ready-made water from the system, or "live water" from the seas.
2. The choice of lamps also requires an understanding of the sizes for them.
Karen81
The size for the lamp is about 30 cm in length and 10 cm in width. As for the distillate, how much does it roughly cost? It might not be worth the hassle. Maybe it would actually be cheaper to buy a filter?
Brenda
The size for the lamp is about 30 cm in length and 10 cm in width. As for the distillate, how much does a liter cost approximately? It might not be worth the hassle. It could be cheaper to just buy a filter, right? I could be wrong, but there are filters that are much cheaper... I only need the filter for the aquarium.
Erin
There are no cheaper reverse osmosis filters.
Michelle1505
You're right, there's nothing cheaper. Distillate at the pharmacy costs 3.5/1L. Options:
energy-saving lamps,
T5 8W
PLS
Compact Aquamedic 24W (not sure about the length)
Devon107
Okay.
Are there no other options besides distillate?
Actually, distillate isn't that expensive... It depends on how often you change the water. If it's once a month, it's not a big deal. But if it's every week, then it makes sense to buy a filter...
Thank you.
Mitchell7972
Thank you, I will watch...
Christina9947
Water treatment is the foundation of marine aquaristics (in my opinion). There are already enough stochastic deviations from the normal behavior of an aquarium, so there's no need to introduce an element of deliberately poor-quality water. If you don't have money for a filter, I would wait with the aquarium and first save up for a filter. It is needed not just once. It is always needed.
Scott9892
You can buy purified water in stores; Kisson, osmosis, costs 50 kopecks per liter, while distilled water is very expensive if you buy it, and regular filters are not suitable, only osmotic systems should be used. Don't even think about trying tap water, God forbid.
Sara
Almost any water that is delivered to offices or apartments in large bottles (19 liters, it seems) will be suitable since it is purified through osmosis. The only thing to pay attention to is that the water should not be artificially mineralized. The cost for your volume is 20 per month. Regarding lighting, the easiest way is to use two energy-saving bulbs of 6500 K.
Craig7302
Buy water for the aquarium, but drink from the tap yourself? Maybe take care of yourself first? Install a reverse osmosis system primarily for yourself?
Aaron6112
Is it possible to drink osmotic water? As far as I know, distilled water is not safe to drink.
Kristen1161
Osmosis and distillate are completely different liquids.
Robert5335
It's all clear, but I have a 200-meter well. We did an analysis - everything is fine. I can't provide exact parameters since I didn't conduct the analysis and wasn't involved in it... I only need osmosis for a mini-nemo of 32 liters. Is there any chemistry that can turn regular tap water into distillate or something like osmosis water?
Wanda666
What I found and didn't find today:
Hagen Power-Glo T5 24cm (maybe 28, I don't remember exactly) 12 watts-140.
Actinic - all at least 44cm.
I asked about regular whites at 10000k - all start from 40cm.
I asked at the bird market...
If I take Hagen Power-Glo 24cm - will one be enough or do I need two? Or do I need a longer one?
I can't find regular whites at 10000k in sizes up to 38cm, and the same situation with actinics.
I was offered regular whites at 6400k for my size... Maybe I should take 3 of those regular ones and Hagen Power-Glo? Where can I get actinic...?
Maybe I should just get rid of the aquarium and buy another one.
Cassandra1840
At least 60cm, as there is already a relatively inexpensive T5 light (24W 55cm).
Jason9385
Why do you ask questions if you don't read the answers?!
Crystal4879
A bold and wise decision, and to put more.
Charles4157
I read (I understand you mean private messages). From everything you wrote, I only found one lamp - Hagen Power-Glo, which will fit in my hood. I can't find an actinic that will fit in my hood... I can't find T8 lamps at 10,000K that will fit in my hood... I searched through online stores - there are no actinics or 10,000K lamps... I went to the pet store - I didn't find anything useful there either. So I'm asking - can you tell me where I can buy all this stuff?
Daniel4967
In terms of finances, it's not 3-5 kg of stones that are needed, but 15 kg. If you take a larger volume, you need to consider osmosis, and so on. That's the whole catch... I just know that I can afford this aquarium, but I'm not sure about a larger one.
Robert800
Silvania Aquastar - aquarium lamp 10000K. Not a deficit, T5 and T8 are available, the entire range.
Ashley5975
T5 8Wt 10 000K
There, ask the representative of Aqua Medic.
Jennifer5784
Thank you! I ordered and am waiting. I plan to start on December 29, 2009.
Kayla7655
I ordered three SanLux 8W T5 and Hagen Power Glo 8W T5. I can't find Actinic in this size. Now I will deal with the ballast.
