• Maintenance costs for a 450L bank.

  • Ronald

Good evening to all forum members. I want to set up a 450-liter marine aquarium, which will have approximately: - 10 fish, corals, 1-2 anemones. I'm interested in how much it will cost per month.

Tammy

Specify whether the expenses will be for electricity, adding water, feed, or all together, or perhaps the cost of setting up the aquarium or expenses for buying fish, etc.

Debra

The monthly cost is not very much... the initial investment is quite significant. Fish, corals, and anemones are animals that I would say are not compatible; you should choose what will be included. No one can say for sure what the monthly cost will be. For my aquarium, 4-8 kg of salt, reactor media (not every month)... approximately 20-40 euros. It could be more, or it could be without any expenses at all. The cost of food is negligible compared to the investment in the aquarium. It's hard to calculate exactly! After all, it's the sea...

Julie3950

I know how much money is needed to set up an aquarium. I'm interested in how much money is needed for maintenance per month, approximately minimum-maximum.

Caroline1599

Rhetorical question.

Holly

How much is this approximately? What is incompatible, anemones and corals or anemones and fish?

Michelle5859

Well, how to say, they are not compatible. I have a volume of 500 liters and there are two types of actinies, SPS (small-polyped corals) five species, soft corals - nine species, about eight species of Helman algae, a pair of Acelaris, a girl, a Pseudocheilinus hexataenia, three species of stars (not including three species of brittle stars), 15-18 shrimp, and a handful of hermit crabs. Everything is great.

Daniel

I wrote about my aquarium, 20 - 40 euros... You mentioned fish, corals, anemones. This set should not be combined. For each direction, there are specific animals... Decide what you want to see first, and then all the other creatures will follow.

Alyssa6727

Of course, you can put everything into one aquarium... I won't argue. But why? Tomorrow, the anemone will start moving around the aquarium, it will get into the pump, the soft corals will start a war with the SPS (small-polyped corals) and so on. Everyone chooses their own path; for me, it is chosen in one direction. Why have an animal in the aquarium that can destroy the entire system?

Joshua8425

Create the right conditions, ensure safety, and choose everything correctly, and there will be no problems. At least I have not had any, and neither have my friends for over a decade. Well, if you throw things around carelessly, then it's understandable.

Sara

I spend about 20-25 grams per month on my 500-liter reef (water changes, topping off) but that's if I don't buy new inhabitants.

Jessica5016

Aqua 300L, it's most interesting to estimate.... light, equipment --- 50 osmosis water (currently buying) --- 60 salt --- 20 Total: 130 + feed + calcium supplements + trace elements + water testing once a month...

Stephen5841

Ah! Well, that's just wonderful! Let's invite those (they are fully present here) who "maintain" aquariums, and let them say HOW MUCH THEY ARE PAID for maintaining them. It seems clear that the person asked about normal standard costs, those WHO pay, not those who get free light, beer, water, and those WHO are paid for maintaining the aquarium...

Joseph6461

I agree with ROMA: expect to spend 20-40 euros a month. If anyone tells you that you will spend less than 20 euros a month - don't believe them!!!! I spend much more than 40 euros a month on my aquarium... The question of what you want to keep will determine everything.

Daniel132

I disagree, my soft rhyme does not cost more than 10 euros a month. I even exaggerated it a little.

Phillip9722

I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!! Guys, let's forget about the equipment resources. Light bulbs do not last more than a year!!! A normal phenomenon is a 5% water change per week. For 500 liters, that's already over 10 euros a month. Feed, light (not just bulbs - flow, return, skimmer). Don't mislead the forum participants. For an average reef, you should be prepared to spend 20-40 euros. Often, it's much more.

Kendra2262

I swear, I don't have such expenses of 40 euros a month. You might have more expenses, and good for you, but I don't. I'm poor with a small income and I don't waste money because I simply don't have it. I have an acquaintance who flushes 5000 euros a year down the toilet, and if he lists his expenses, everyone will be shocked. But that's not a measure of proper management; everyone has their own whims and approaches.

Amber

Alright. Standard citizens have such positions on payments. 1. Feed 2. Electricity 3. Water replacement and expenses for water treatment This is the meager amount that flows regularly in a stable system without emergencies. Is it really possible that these items add up to 25 a month for an aquarium of several hundred liters? Then we are coming to YOU TO LEARN about savings!

Natasha

Post 14, I said everything there. I will repeat, I don't have and never had a soft Samp rift, no MG. All my expenses are to pay for 15 grams of electricity, to add 20-25 liters of evaporated water, and to do a water change of 10-12 liters a month, plus 350 grams of salt and micro-additives once every two months or even less often. Calculate how much I spend, let it be a maximum of 50-60 grams, no more.

Colin1418

He is right, but this is just his specific case, more of an exception than a rule. In my opinion, it's better to expect 40 euros and spend 10. And a good hard rhyme can't be pulled off for 60. So it's important to clearly define the content.

Michele

I also don't have a sump, and everything is growing wonderfully, but what does that have to do with it? You have a beautiful aquarium, and that only emphasizes that you are doing a great job, but there seems to be some mistake with the electricity expenses. I don't think I'm the only one who thinks so. Two plus two equals four, even in Africa. Note that it's nothing personal...

Chad9037

I got tired of explaining to you; it's your right not to believe. Anatoly has larger aquariums than I do, and he earns between 450 and 550 a month with his 800-liter, 500-liter, and auxiliary aquariums. Do you want me to provide copies of payment receipts as proof? There are no cool rewinds like yours; there’s no MG. It's your right to believe or not; come visit, and you'll see for yourself and be convinced.

Joseph9057

The aquarium of mine is 500 liters and consumes 700 watts per hour. In a month, that's 294 kWh. I don't remember the rate, maybe 35 kopecks per kWh. If so, that's 102 for electricity per month. The billing comes out to about 80 per month. Food costs 22 per month (without shrimp). I change the salt once a month - about 1.2 kg, probably - 140 (TM Pro Reef). The water is osmosis. Consumables for the month - about 50 per month. Vodka costs around 10. That seems to be everything. In total, it's 404 per month. This is without the cost of various things like tests, coral reef products, coral minerals, and various Phyto and ZOO additives.

Joseph8842

I can't understand what kind of overcharges you have; check your devices. My son has a 350-liter marine aquarium in his office, a refrigerator, a computer, and a television. His accountant pays for the consumed electricity from 90 to 100 UAH per month, but you, gentlemen, have expenses that are outrageous. Either you are lying, or you have messed up something that shouldn't be there; paying 400 UAH for the light for just one aquarium is not normal.

Kathryn514

Offices vary. I have an aquarium at work too. We declare 2 megawatts per month. We pay 750-800 a month. But the expenses are 25 a month - complete nonsense. Maybe he meant 250 for his mix - that would be acceptable. You can even put one cerianthus and one sponge in 250 liters. If you don't light them, they'll start praying to you. Once a month, you can throw them some breadcrumbs for 15 kopecks.

Jeffrey

I don't know what Sher Khan has going on, but his aquarium is top-notch, unlike yours. I can't understand why you pay 800 for yours and rack up 2 megawatts; it's just sad. Yes, take a look at Sher Khan's album; there are decent animals and a lot of things that many people don't have. From you, it's just show-off.

Daniel8015

2 megawatts - the expenses of an office with 7 rooms - not a single aquarium. Read carefully. I pay, I pay. And I don't understand what Shere Khan's album has to do with it. An aquarium is just an aquarium. Which doesn't cost 25 a month. This is the conversation about it. Ps Thank you for the pity)

Joseph6461

You don't know the person and you don't believe him, but that's a mistake. I've been to SHERKHAN's house many times, and he generally pays around 100 to 120 hryvnias for all utilities, including TV, water, and other things, so the truth is that his total rent is 500 hryvnias. So you're mistaken about that. He also mentioned that one aquarium costs about 25 hryvnias per month for electricity on average.

Earl

Guys, sorry for what might be a silly question, but what is SPS (5 types)? I have never heard of such a marine animal.

Stephanie4990

This refers to the madreporic corals with small polyps (acroporas, pocilloporids, porites...). If you want to successfully keep them, you need to be prepared to spend more than 50 a month on their maintenance. Otherwise, it will be a struggle. And we are responsible for those we have tamed! A 450-liter aquarium with SPS corals will cost the budget more than 400 a month.

Christopher7213

Hello, take a look at Denis's SPS (small-polyped corals) reef and Stas's SPS (small-polyped corals) reef. Post 1 I think this will answer your question.

Anthony4281

Thank you for the wonderful links! Very beautiful reefs! And your amazing! There are anemones, corals, and fish. I don't quite understand how SPS (small-polyped corals) look yet, but I've already been told that they are corals with small polyps. I know what a polyp is.
