Hello everyone. Please give me some advice. I have a 450-liter aquarium and I have 4 T8 lamps, each 54W and 14000K, specifically for marine use from the company ine Glo. The question is: is this light sufficient for corals? I asked the sellers, but I didn't get a definite answer. Some say it's enough, while others say it's only suitable for soft corals and some simpler hard corals. Thank you in advance.

There is very little light. A minimum of 6 T5 is needed, ideally 2 MH of 250 or 150 watts (depending on the corals) and 2 or 4 T5.

Nothing like that, I had 4 T5 lamps of 80 watts each for 8 months - euphyllias grew beautifully, especially discoactinies, sinularias, and sarcophytons. The combination was 2 Aqua Medic Ocean White and 2 Aqua Medic Actinics. Of course, MH looks nicer with those glimmers on the sand and is better (light output, price-lifespan ratio).

Thank you for the answers, I couldn't respond earlier. Thank you for the offer.

It's even easier for you, you live in Germany. Register on the online auction, and there you can buy almost EVERYTHING!!! You can send and help aquarists.

I buy almost everything from there, but it's unlikely to find a good lamp at a low price. I'll buy it later; right now, I have other more important issues. For now, I'm preparing the aquarium for setup in the new apartment. I plan to launch it in the first days of August; almost everything is ready, just need to gather it all together. I only need to glue the backflow stopper for the water, just in case I want to install it.

Can you tell me if 8 pieces of T5 at 35 watts will be enough for my aquarium or not? The depth of the aquarium is 60 cm. Thank you.

Mike

better 8 pieces 80 watts
