I recommend you read the section "Marine Aquariums of Forum Members" regarding your question like "why don't we chat about everything at once..."

The sea is much cooler and more expensive. If you have 2-3 thousand dollars, start with the sea. Real men only build for the sea. As for the grass, that's just for pioneers, a little fun in childhood.
Joseph8842
Both require gray matter; if it is absent, there are cool guys who will support this balance for you without your involvement. I repeat, without your advice.
Michele9664
What a question! I just start thinking about the sea, and I have the money, but I lack experience, and then a guy comes in and says... something... I'm in shock.
Jeremy
I will answer after all.
Advantages: 1) beautiful, imagine the sea at home.
Disadvantages: 2) expensive!!! takes a lot of time, requires a certain level of knowledge (for example: in computers working with Linux, in cars driving a Subaru Impreza STI, in music—JAZZ)!!!
P.S.: by the time you learn, you'll be left with nothing at the sea, start with freshwater guppies.
Elijah7048
It's a bit expensive for me and I have little time at the sea. That's it. But I will definitely get one soon.
Michelle1505
I just don't like the sea... that's all!

The sea is a fairy tale, a magical tale, but you will not feel at HOME there and will not dream of continuing your self in those places, although who knows what is in everyone's mind?

MISCONCEPTION!!! A swamp takes more time than a properly launched sea.
Nicole263
How much time is needed for the launch? It takes a year for the sea launch. For the freshwater launch, it takes 3 months.
Michelle9986
I don't know, I haven't tried. I mean, I don't have time to be creative about it. As soon as the factors are favorable, I'll take care of it.

I disagree with your statement because with good design, the rock is hardly visible, and when it comes to marine aquariums, they are much more diverse and colorful than freshwater ones. I would also like to add that there are no ugly aquariums (whether freshwater or marine), only poor designers.

Exclusively, Subaru and Jazz somehow don't go together for me. P.S. Moderator, sorry for the off-topic... I just couldn't help it.
Michele9664
What is overloaded with corals?
For example:
And here is an aquarium where we can talk about design.

Sorry, there are no "marine" competitions at the moment, but the topic is interesting to me. I have come across information that annual competitions are held specifically for marine aquariums. They take place in the USA. Both complexity and design are evaluated. I never thought that in the field of marine aquariums, Takashi Amano is also remembered. Just by the way, he also works with "marine" themes.
Alyssa6727
Uuuhhh...
I haven't seen Amano's marine work... And I would be very interested to see it (if it exists). Do you have any links?
As for marine contests... Every month Reef Central holds a "Tank of the Month" contest, and so? The link in my previous post is to one of the winners.
James
What doesn't add up for you? This comparison:
JAZZ requires excellent mastery of the instrument.
Driving a Subaru requires skills.
A marine aquarium requires knowledge of aquaristics and things like water parameter control and much, much more...
THERE WAS A KEY WORD LIKE! It's just that a person far from aquaristics, that's why I welcome such comparisons.
Jessica5016
Do not confuse launch time with maintenance time.
Erin
No comments. We have different ideas about what an aquarium should look like. Whether it's on hard or soft surfaces doesn't matter.

This is not a photograph - everything is done in Photoshop.

Maybe even in the King.
Brandon9634
Uuuhh...
What do you disagree with? That most marine tanks are just overgrown coral gardens? What design are you talking about? How many "marine" tanks do you know that have harmonious proportions? Why does everyone like the Peterhof Gardens, while you insist on a solution that looks like a spontaneously overgrown thicket? The argument that the biotope is complex is accepted, but isn't it time to think about the well-known principles of design? The golden ratio is widely used in landscape design... How many tanks do you know that are built according to this principle?
Ross
It depends on how you approach it. Most freshwater aquariums are just overgrown plants, and as for spontaneously grown thickets, it depends on what one is capable of; not everyone is talented, and not everyone has the right skills. Most likely, we are talking about the same thing, but we just can't seem to convey our thoughts to each other.
Ryan
I do not agree with you...
No one is competing with each other; everyone is trying to understand this marine world.
And if you are looking for well-designed marine aquariums,
that is one thing - here, everyone who created a reef is a "world aquadesigner of marine tanks."

People, did you read the first post carefully? The guy is just tired of dealing with algae, so he thought, "Why not get a sea? There, algae won't reach..." Whether it's a sea or not is purely a personal desire of each aquarist. And HARD WORK is needed in both cases. It's just that your argument is, excuse me, about whether it's better to be thicker or longer.
Bryan1851
You can launch the sea in four days, and throw whoever you want in there, everything will live.
Daniel4967
Exactly, it's not just about money or its amount, but about the quantity of gray matter and the availability of time to acquire the necessary qualities with this matter.
Phillip9722
Looks like it's on topic...
I will buy gray matter of the brain.
Expensive.
