You can light it up with any electronic ballast, even with the Chinese fixtures that Arovana has. The only difference is the manufacturer. By the way, I didn't expect such a question from you, Pavlik.
Regarding the 2 MG fixture at Arovana, there are both Aquamedic and Chinese ones. So, you can buy a fully packaged aquarium for the price of the Aquamedic fixture. So what's the difference?
A Mercedes and a Moskvich are both cars and both drive. It's up to you to decide which one to drive.

I haven't experimented with T5 lamps yet...
Christopher
By the way, you can get EPRA for T5 from other manufacturers (cheaper), but preferably not from China. And JBL lamps are amazing. The spectrum is incredible. In my opinion, they are better than MH.
Sheila
In addition to JBL lamps, there are more affordable but still good quality aquatic lights, such as Sylvania (from Vodianoy) and AquaMedic (Arowana). Personally, I use T5 from Sylvania. I can say I'm satisfied.

Silvaniya doesn't have 80 watts - I found out.
Craig7302
Here, here... And, moreover, the Silvania spectrum is 8500. I can't say anything about Aquamedic, I haven't used it. But for me, I have my own opinion about Aquamedic products. The product is certainly not bad, but the price??? It feels like we are only paying for the brand. It's not worth the money. By the way, the price difference for JBL lamps is about 20-25% more expensive.

I heard you can unscrew the driver from the energy-saving bulb and light a T5.
Alyssa6727
But where have you seen an 80W energy-saving bulb?
Daniel8015
I apologize in advance, but I wanted to ask if it's not possible to just buy a ready-made lamp for a T5 bulb, throw it away or use it without the bulb, and install the one that is needed, or are there any issues? Please explain if something is wrong.
Jennifer9100
What's the question? Buy a ready-made lamp from Arovana,
I got one for my algae filter:
and I'm happy with the light, though it gets hot. I'm thinking of trying to move the ballast outside.
You can buy ballasts, etc. from Vossloh-Schwabe.

so it will be

Why pay more? The price in the arowana is unjustified...
Stefanie9771
Where is the price justified?

A specific question was asked, not a compromise. What type of ballasts are needed to operate 80W T5 lamps? (I plan to buy these lamps in the future.)
Robin
Pavlik!! I have a warranty for two 80w T5 Osram and Philips lamps, I tried to replace them in the Chinese fixtures and the difference is significant! The Chinese fixtures have 34w!!!!!
Timothy
I didn't like the actinics 80W from Aquamedic due to their spectrum. I couldn't find any other 80-watt options. As for the Sylvania actinics, although they were the older 13th generation lamps, they were mesmerizing!
I installed them as Fedor described:
"In Vemasa: Electronic ballasts for T5 FQ lamps with hot start 188047.08 ELXc 180.479 1x80 Watt 99.55"
